These boys from Germany made a HUGE dip in the 80s zeitgeist. Songs like "Winds of change" and "No one like you" are AMAZING. I'd be surprised if you hadn't heard some of their stuff unknowingly. His voice is fantastic. The decade of Decadence was a great time to be alive!

(Wind of Change ~ by Scorpions) Long ago in Berlin there was a wall that seperated a nation Capitalism on one side Communism on the other. The people on the communist side longed to own property & speak freely. They started peacefully marching and seeking freedom at great risk they would follow the Moskva down to Gorky Park listening to the wind of change. In the end the song was influenced by the tearing down The Berlin Wall.
@edwardlongshanks827
@edwardlongshanks827 2 жыл бұрын
The song "Wind of Change" was released in Jan 1991. The Berlin Wall came down in Nov 1989 and German Reunification officially occurred on 3 Oct 1990. So no, the song did was not instrumental in bringing down the Berlin Wall but rather reflected the changes that were occurring with the end of the Cold War. I was stationed in Germany with the RCAF from May 1989 to May 1992. I attended the the concert put on by Roger Waters known as "The Wall - Live in Berlin" on 21 Jul 1990 and it took place between the Potsdammer Platz and the Brandenburg Gate. You had to enter from concert venue from the East German side and there were no checkpoints between East and West Berlin by that time.

@@sketchtherapy1218 The song was recorded for the album in 1990, which was released on 6 Nov 1990. It was released as a single in Jan 1991. The fall of the Berlin Wall occurred on 9 Nov 1989, approx. 12 months before the release of the album on which "Wind of Change" appears and 14 months before the song was released as a single. Yes, the writing of it was influenced by events such as the fall of the Wall and the things Klaus Meine saw when the Scorpions played at the Moscow Music Peace Festival in Aug 1989, three months before the fall of the Wall. The Moskva River and Gorky Park are in Moscow.

'80's radio metal perfection, they surpassed a few other bands of their era like Judas Priest for radio play with killer pop hooks while remaining heavy; "Big City Nights" and "Bad Boys Running Wild" also from the album "Love AT First Sting", which was a multi-platinum success for them; both equal to this track

I was born in the same town in that most of the Scorpions were from, Hanover, Germany. A kids I grew up with went to High School with the Schenker brothers. (Rudolp is the lead guitarist and Michael started with the Scorps and then went solo and formed the band UFO). My favorite songs are THE ZOO, BLACK OUT, and WINDS OF CHANGE, which is about the fall of the communist Soviet Union and the re-unification of Germany after they were split after World War 2. It was a HUGE deal for the world and especially Europeans.

@Brooke, you're incorrect. They all speak English very well. I have met them before and there was no communication gap whatsoever. Look for Klaus, Mattias, Rudy, Pawell, interviews, in English. As far as one of them living in "Cali," you may be referring to James Kottak, who is no longer a Scorpion. He is American and may still live in "Cali."

This song is about sex using metaphors. With lyrics like “The cat is purring, it scratches my skin” and “So give her inches, and feed her well.” I let you guys figure it out. Also I love the lyric “love at first sting” which is the name of the Scorpions album. “Scorpions” itself is a cool short name for a band imo, and a great name for a sports team in Arizona, or maybe Texas.
