It was much harder for a black man to be a breadwinner, if even employed. Women today don’t have the same values or beliefs as women from that area. you stated that you were raised to believe that a man needs to be the one to get it done. Stop judging things from the past by 2024 standards. The women were the holders of the checkbook and tookk care of the bills,groceries, clothing etc etc even though the mae were the braed winners. Back then a woman needed her husband permission to open a checking account. If she was single had to have her father or male relatives open up one for her. She couldn't even rent or by a house on her own.
