Yes, Show-Ya, the legendary all-female heavy metal band from Japan, active since the 80’s. Check “Eye to eye”, one of their most recent songs, from their KZbin official channel.

Definitely try "Eye to Eye". You'll see how they are today, after near 35 years!

Let's be clear: in 1989, they were by far the best female hard rock band in the world. And their album "Outerlimits" (this is a single taken out of it) is one of the best hair metal albums ever (male or female). They were superstars in Japan but sadly never had decent promotion (or promotion at all) in the west. They're still playing with the same line-up!

That song is one of their best and I have known them since the early 80's. Brilliant band. Please also check out these Japanese bands - Terra Rosa , Saber Tiger , Mari Hamada , Earthshaker , Seikima-ll , Concerto Moon (early) , Onmyo-Za , Anthem , X-japan , Vow wow / Bow wow etc. They are all brilliant bands too.

My first all female band the grandmother's who led the way for all of today's great Japanese female bands. They kicked the doors in to the Boys Club and blew many of those hiding inside. They are still rocking today. My favorite till Mary's Blood came along in 2009 and then came Lovebites in 2017. All the great female bands in Japan today can look back to this 1980's band who proved women can rock as hard as the boys and in fact were better musicians in many cases. Great reaction BTW, next try some of the great male bands X-Japan or present day Galneryus.

Wow! This was amazing. This song is so cool. I like it very much. This is my first time listening to it. And yes... it reminds me old anime series. By the way SHOW-YA played with Nemophila a few performances or Nemophila played with SHOW-YA... I don't know who was "main" band... But I saw small parts of this performance. Also Nemophila played some covers with the drummer from SHOW-YA... And I didn't listen to SHOW-YA before this reaction... :( Thank you for showing me them!

Terada Keiko, the lead singer is almost 60 and still gorgeous. She founded the Naon no Yaon women's festival in Japan. She was the one who introduced Nemophila on their live version of "Oiran."

You hear music "like anime" just because a los of anime have many opening and endgins songs from japanese artists. Sometimes this songs are composed for the series, but other (and a lot of times) are just themes from various artists, normal themes from their albums. That´s because anime series are produced a lot of times from a "production comite", a group of companies including record labels, so when a serie need some music they got something from their cataloges. Btw, Keiko and Show-ya continues today with the same formation and sing almost the same way. Keiko is like good wine, she got better with the years. Oh, and they even sometimes sing with Nemophila.

“I Am a Stormy Woman”_WATASHI WA ARASHI_(1987)SHOW-YA Lyrics: Yoshihiko Ando, Music: Keiko Terada (English translation of rough lyrics meaning) As if I was swept away by the wind That blew like an endless stream I chased the lightning that shone so brightly The stormy sky we both saw that day Nothing has changed. Now it's a dead age where dreams can't be born That's just a man's line What changed your mind that you were so strong? I hope you'll never betray yourself I'm a strong woman like a storm I'll blow away the false peace I'm burning like a flame Once more I'll set our world ablaze Blowin'you Women wear glass masks We can hide our true faces from the world And yet, somewhere inside, A man always has a rusty dream that he can't get rid of For the sake of love, even if it hurts I fear nothing now I want to go back to that night in the middle of a distant storm The lightning that ran through us both I am the woman of miracles I open this night that has been closed up And let it go I give birth to the future We can feel each other forever You can get! The lightning that calls tomorrow Woo Woo Now it's ripping through the sky I'm a strong woman like a storm I'll blow away the false peace I'm burning like a flame I want to burn once more The fire of our life Blowin'you /SHOW-YA is a Japanese hard rock heavy metal band with five female members. The band is a pioneer of Japanese girl metal bands composed entirely of women in the 1980s. The predecessor of the band was the band "Medusa" with vocalist Keiko Terada and keyboardist Miki Nakamura, which later changed its name to "SHOW-YA". In 1982, the band won the grand prize in the ladies' division of a band contest sponsored by YAMAHA. In 1985, they made their major label debut with Toshiba EMI Japan. Two songs from their seventh album "Outerlimits" released in 1987, their 8th single "Marginal Lovers" and 9th single "I Am a Stormy Woman" became consecutive hits, and the album sold over 600,000 copies, making them the most popular girls metal band in Japan at that time. The band went through member changes, breakups, and reunions, and is one of those rare bands where the original members are still active with a career spanning over 35 years. /Show-ya are... Keiko Terada - vocals, Miki Nakamura - keyboards, chorus, Miki mittan Tsunoda - drums, chorus, Satomi Senba - bass, chorus, Miki sun-go (third) Igarashi - Guitar, Chorus,
