She was a musical genius, truly authentic, nothing fake. She had the balls to stand up for what she believed in and fought against the things that were wrong!!

It is indeed from 1990. Just imagine how she must have stood out with her shaved head. The record company wanted her to doll herself up with long hair and short skirts, so she immediately removed all her hair in protest. Sinéad is best characterized in one word: Integrity.

She didn’t shave it because of that. She was sexually abused countless times in her childhood so she shaved her head to appear less attractive and needed up keeping her hair shaved her entire life. She was a tortured soul and she passed away 2 days ago god rest her soul

Sinead O’Connor was already a shaved headed beauty. She went with this alternative style, and had it before it this album. I first saw her in a video for World Party, long before her solo career.

RIP precious Angel of God. I love her version of this song it is more heartfelt especially because she was pouring out her feeling toward her abusive mom after she passed away in a car accident when Sinéad was a young. What sucks is that her dad turned out to also abuse her . This is why she was a strong voice after Child Abusers😢🦋❤🙏

Thank You For Hearing Me, is the song that strikes my core. Love anything that flowed from her lips yet this song spoke to my soul and my love for the Holy Spirit - I heard someone say she was Ireland’s Elvis. Mercy and Grace will surely arise from the space that has now opened up from her passing in form.

My best friend and I used to sing along with all the Sinéad albums up until 1999. We sang thank you for hearing me for our class and teachers when we finished our 3 years of training in Psychotherapy which had been very heavy going, but the song really summed it up. From then on it became one of the very meaningful songs for that class, and they would play it as part of the course, near the end. To this day I skip that song, as much as I love it, because it's just too much to bear and immediately brings me to tears. The other day I watched the film clip and listened to the song for the first time in many years, probably more than two decades, because my friend was murdered in 1999, and after that I just couldn't. Oh it's such an amazing song! And what a film clip too. I've listened to Sinéad since the lion and the cobra, but haven't really seen much of her until recently because I've always lived off grid, but now I have KZbin. I've been watching and listening a lot since getting internet on my phone, even before she died, but especially the last 3 weeks. There is such a rich archive on KZbin I'm very grateful. I feel like I've lost my mother and a soul mate.

Thank you from Ireland for your HEARTFELT reaction☘ We are mourning our beautiful Daughter Sinéad💔....tragic. She was a force of nature with unmatched talent, but she was also very fragile. Please react to her live acapella performance of 'I Am Stretched On Your Grave' - a 17th-century Irish poem that she transformed with just her voice and a 'beat box' sample; She was keening for our Country & it is pure perfection. The media and music industry cruelly shunned her for speaking THE TRUTH about the catholic abuse of innocent Irish children, including herself & she was eventually proven CORRECT - now an acknowledged fact globally. But the damage was already done to her and her career. I hope they're proud of their relentless victim shaming of a 23 year old girl who was brave enough to speak out. Rest easy sweet Sinéad - I hope you're finally at peace with your beloved son, Shane💚

If you don't know her history, a) this song was written by Prince, b) she had a tortured life starting with a mother (who she's singing to in this song) who molested and abused her throughout her childhood, c) look up her SNL performance and the Bob Dylan tribute that followed. She was a misunderstood tortured singer with a fierce and powerful voice. Nothing like her.

In memory of seeing a MTV interview. The reason for the closeup I do believe that the video is a recording of the song. She did this studio wise and it's a pre-release of the song to. Meaning it's not even lip-sync. The closeup is actually hiding the mic that we don't even know is there. Now I'm not sure if the vid was out with the song? Though I think this is the first time that a recording live was ever done as a professional video. It's indeed incredible!

Just a tip ... Your intro music "Loudness Level" is way too loud. It's beyond recommended Loudness Guidelines for streaming and is clipping. This is fairly easy to test by comparing to other KZbin videos and even the rest of the audio content within the video. There is also a free application available called "Youlean Loudness Meter" which makes it easy to fix.

Why is everyone only commenting on this one song? If I didn’t know better, I would think if you couldn’t sing, you were nothing. All I see are pictures of when she was younger. If she would have sang this song while being 56, she would not have had the same effect as what she did then. Also, Sinead said her mom abused her. Sinead has mentally abused her daughter and other kids by just saying, “my son is the only one that loved me unconditionally.” Wow! that the same as saying her daughter and other kids never did and the only one worth her love, even in death is her son who killed himself. I wonder why her son killed himself?
