The lyric "All the flowers that you planted momma,in the backyard.All died when you went away" is essentially about her own mum

Her son just committed suicide 3 weeks ago. She suffered a lot in her life. Church, show business, boycotted, being poor, having a horrible mother, Her song rejected by prince family to be used in a documentary because she accused prince of violence when she stayed over 1 night. Etc She is a Sufi Muslim now, hope she will find peace

This Irish angel suffered and she brings an ordinary song wrote my a legend, Prince was and still is a legend . And now she is . I belive Prince would have been proud today. We will never know , however , one thing I do know , if anyone voice can open the Heavens and pure natural beauty , its Sinead . She was right then and truth hurts on the topic she brought to light and shes a damn legend , beyond her time back then . We love you Sinead ❤❤❤❤👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽❤❤❤❤👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

You must hear her do this live, even better than the music video.

Prince wrote the song, probably about a woman, but when Sinead sang it, she was singing it about her mom who was abusive and had passed away... The conflicted feeling of loving and losing her mom, and going through that difficult childhood...

I mean she definitely pulled emotions from that but the lyrics are clearly about a lover.

"I can put my arms around every boy I see" is about her mother?!? Think you're way off!
@Rosiepooh752 жыл бұрын
@@pamelajohnson6199 she said herself that she sang it thinking of her mom. It's not my opinion, it's her saying it in an interview back then. She didn't write the song, so not all the lyrics would fit, but watch her when she sings "all the flowers that you planted, mama, in the back yard, all died when you went away"
@pamelajohnson61992 жыл бұрын
@@Rosiepooh75 And I read those words were from Prince singing about his housekeeper or nanny. She did say she had an abusive mother but I find no record of her saying she was referring to her mother. It would be quite strange to sing about lost love and loss of mother in the same song. I'll find my references as I read extensively yesterday on the matter. Also found out Prince and Delores disliked each other intensely and came to blows at Paisley Park and he threw her out in the middle of the night.
@Rosiepooh752 жыл бұрын
@@pamelajohnson6199 again, never said she wrote a single lyric on this song. I said that she said in an interview that she was singing it with her own mom in mind, even though not all the lyrics apply. I also said look at her face in the video when she signs that part - you can see the emotion. I saw that interview in the 90s so no idea if it's available online or not And this is Sinead, not Delores...

The lyrics tell the story clearly, "since you took your love away", " where did I go wrong," and "I know that living with me baby was sometimes hard, but I'm willing to give it another try." As far as her experience, I am not sure she had experienced anything like this, but an empathetic person can cry over even perceived pain.

Her first name is pronounced Shin-ade, it’s an Irish name and you should also react to her song “The Foggy Dew” about the Irish 1916 Easter Rising against the English which is famously Conor McGregor’s walkout music

While she is an exceptional writer in her own right, this song was written by Prince. As the story goes, the first time he heard her voice he was like, that’s the singer I wrote this song for. That’s the voice. Believe me, to have Prince approach someone to record one of his songs was a big freakin’ deal!

Her mother died a year before she made this song that's why she threw in that little sentence about her mom do you know her mom was abusive in every way she still had love for her mom and for you my brother you have a loving and compassionate soul thank you for your empathy and humanity God bless you 🙏😇

Hey doc thanks for covering such a great and unique song and artist. She really is something else. She recently lost her son to suicide last month and then she tried to commit suicide herself about 10 days later. She's in a pretty dark space right now the same way she was in the song so she could definitely use us sending her some positive energy and some healing love.

This is a Prince song. Prince wrote it. But her cover is hauntingly beautiful. When she recorded this her mother had recently passed. She said she was thinking of her mother to convey the emotion

Its a lost love song. Sinead is a very passionate person and performer and has been through a lot. At the time this was released she was making a name for herself but was beginning to be controversial. She's much older now, as I am and really struggles with serious mental illness issues. It's very sad.
