Haven't seen you around in a while; you picked a good one. Strugg goes off on some poor sap but I'm here for it. N the beat slaps. P.s the guy in the studio with the aviators and long hair is struggles uncle Shooter Jennings. He's Waylon Jennings youngest son and he got offered the gig in 2008 to front Velvet Revolver when Scott Weiland (formerly of stone temple pilots) relapsed. Slash and Duff Mckagan (former lead guitar and bassist from Guns n Roses) lobbied for him but he turned it down. Wanted to create his own path. I saw Shooter in 2006 in Seattle shortly after his daddy died as well as at Billy Bobs Texas in 2018. His first 2 albums were true outlaw country but he started getting into more experimental stuff. He's ended up focused on producing bc he hates Nashville for v what they did to his dad. And that they're all empty suits. He's actually won multiple grammies for executive producing. He produced one of my favorite Texas country bands Jason boland & the stragglers' Dark and Dirty Mile album as well as a rock album he did with yela. He's actually struggles uncle despite only being a year apart. Because he was so into rap as a kid, Waylon called Struggle "my only black grandson". Its hard to understate what an absolute badass Waylon Jennings was. In fact, he was so iconic he was just referred to as Waylon. His life story is crazy...he was performing with Buddy Holly but gave up his seat on the plane to Ritchie Valens who was sick and couldn't ride the bus in blizzard weather. The plane ended up crashing killing buddy holly, Richie valens and the big bopper Richardson, leaving Waylon with guilt he never fully got over. Don macleans "The Day the Music Died" is about that plane crash. I went to see Buddy hollys grave in Lubbock when i was seeing a girl there. He was only 20 or 21 and valens was like 17. Its crazy a tiny AM station in Lubbock TX which barely had 20,000 residents at the time, produced 4 musical icons who started there as teens making jingles between picking cotton. Holly and Waylon are 2 of the most well known and influential artists of the last 100yrs.

Yela and Struggle have Crash Site too……these two are on regular rotation. PS the way Struggle comes in this with aggression is my fav thing. And there’s a line in Forest Bonderant with Broadnax that is awesome. Anyone bringing in trumpets for the New Orleans sound is awesome. I like how all of them are different. Struggle is that guy. All they had on him was a wiretapped convo, he did five years and came out to find his kids in foster care and his wife selling herself on Backpage for drug money. He got his act together, got his kids back, married his wife's best friend, and is an inspiration!
