Great reaction. If religion, faith, brings you comfort and healing I am all for it. When people use their religion as a way to attack or put someone at lower value, then I have a problem. We are all different and unique, and we should find value in this.

Very well said, David. I wish people were wise enough to follow that, but history shows the opposite. Luckily with many exceptions 💖🌼

Another very interesting version of "Take Me to Church" was done by Morgan James with Scott Bradlee (Post Modern Jukebox). Morgan also does one of the best covers of Joni Mitchel's "River" I've heard. Both are on KZbin. "Deathless death" could also describe the feeling after coitus sometimes called "The little death" This might fit in with the concept of a lover as the object of worship the song seems to describe

OMFG! Thank you! I didn't even realize you reacted to this song. It seems like you really enjoyed it. The reason why I love it so much is it goes against a lot of what complete and total blindness of closed-minded faith can really ruin a person, and to a point ruin their faith. I'm far more spiritual than I am religious, but I am an Irish Roman Catholic. I just have a lot of issues with the Catholic, and pretty much any Christian, followers simply because they truly think that they're following the teachings of Christ, and it's all bullshit. I know several Satanists that follow the teachings of Christ far better than most of the Christians I've met. Anyway, off my soapbox now and time to shut up.

Hi Amanda, Thanks for the reaction and your honest comments. As for religion, well, look at the first Christians, Acts 2:41-45. They made many new Christians who stayed in Jerusalem so the first Christians went even so far as to sell their properties and possessions in order to feed everyone and give them what they needed and did much more then that. That’s the example of how it should be within a religious organisation. Or look at David, he committed adultery with Bath-sheba and had her husband killed. Did God shout at him, put him down? No, he helped him see what he had done. And that’s what Jesus also always did. He never put anyone down, he helped them to see the truth and then let them choose/decide what to do with that lesson. No where in the Bible do you see a spokesman of God put anyone down, that’s just not what the Bible teaches. On the other hand Jesus did warn us in Matthew 7:15,16 for false prophets and that they can be recognized by their actions. So if you doubt a certain church or church leader you have to think about if it is God here being unloving or the person/religion. God is love, so everything should be done with love including within the religion, or otherwise there’s something very wrong. It’s to bad many people choose to leave religion or God because of those experience and/or wrong teachings. Ok, shutting up now. just had to get that out. Great song btw.

He displays his wrath every day. (Psalm 7:11). That verse always distressed me the most because you can't be all-loving and wrathful. There are many examples of that wrath in the Bible.
@rvdw19752 жыл бұрын
@@MentalAmanda Hi Amanda, Reading Psalms 7, or most of the Psalms, you’ll see that there is a lot of imagery. Also David is talking about God being a righteous Judge. Here he is describing Gods judgment over his, King David, enemies and protects his anointed. But we don’t have to fear any test or punishment. As James 1:13 says, God does not try anyone.

As a former atheist and drug addict and alcoholic who attempted suicide in 2003 only to wake up in the hospital as they pumped my stomach and i will never forget the taste of charcoal in my mouth....it was Jesus who saved my life not the church and not the people in the church....when it comes to God Theres a difference between relationship and religion... im not here to change anyones mind but as a believer i will tell you that where i was and where i am today 17 years clean and sober noone can ever deny my personal experience.

The song isn’t attacking "organized religion" no matter how much Godless people want it to. The song is just of a man falling in love with a woman and idolizing her as if she’s a goddess and him putting up with her lies and selfish ways so he can have sex with her and try and love her.

I kind of believe there's more to the song and lyrics then to the meaning hozier said in the lyrics he speaks of a women and refers to her as goddess so how does it do with being gay im not really understanding that

A gay man can see the beauty and value of a woman without it being sexual.

@diRecTorUNBEKNOWNST2 жыл бұрын
i hate this song, @least the hozier version was blasphemous .. but I'll give this a listen. After having listened Jesus loves you Adam. and everyone else. i wasnt taught what you were "taught" My prev understanding of this song was the illicit intent of "worshiping" the flesh be it one's self or another. Basically honoring the creation over the Creator. However this listen to this version, you've brought up some solid points. Nobody's perfect and no matter where you go there you are with your imperfections. true church is the body of believers And the mouth ought not be judged for its ability or inability thereof to listen . Everyone has a role everyone has a gift. It is sad to feel outcast and rejected I know that from experience. It's also sad when you search for your belonging and something that doesn't define you be it sex or money. But if I'm driving down the road and get a flat tire I don't take the wheel off and throw it through the windshield I wish people would stop Tearing down the things that are broken and start contributing by building up one another. God bless you and thanks for another great vid and your heartfelt sentiments
@timm24282 жыл бұрын
Not getting preachy or saying you are wrong but sadly there is way too much of that in churches. People are rather missing the point we are all the same in Gods eyes, we are all sinners in one form or another. No one is perfect we all have faults but God loves us ALL reglardless of that and thats rather the whole point.
@mercurioslevin18772 жыл бұрын
I have always hated all forms of organised religion, not the idea of faith itself, But history as shown us many times that one you put someone in a position of power and control they will often abuse it and corrupt it to their own ends. Even today we see this and this only made worse by the fact most folks of faith don't actually know know much about their own faith other then what is discussed in their weekly services and have forgotten that faiths such has Judaism, Christianity and Islam are worshipping the same God just following different Teachers e.g. the archangel Gabriel appears many times in all three faiths at very key times - e.g. to proclaim the birth of Jesus and to dictate the Quran to Muhammad (look up The Abrahamic Religions for more) but this detail has been overlooked by various religious leaders in favour keeping the tool of "In his name" as it allows those in power to use the excuse of it was "God Will's" to carry out their self serving goals at the cost of those that truly believe in their faith. sorry for the ramble and I'm in no way attacking religion itself as we all have the right to believe what we choose.
