"Find out... find out....what this fear is about..." followed by the saxophone solo... man, when that part hits it's all chills! This is one of my favorite songs of theirs and this album is one of the best albums ever made. When I was younger, I used to put my headphones on and listen to this album in it's entirety and I would zone out... it definitely takes you places you didn't know existed musically. TFF has always had that ability to hit you deep in your soul with their music.

I said it before on your other Tears for Fears song reaction, but I'll say it again. The whole album is a masterpiece, and one of the most lushly produced. Tears for Fears have always been labelled as "pop", but their music is much deeper are more complex to be considered as pop. This album and Sowing the Seeds of Love are a masterclass in songwriting, mood and style. I hope you do more of them at some point, as they're one of the best groups the UK has produced period.

No arguments here. Absolutely fantastic album with a sound that stays distinctive and fresh after all these years. Glad I had this kinda music growing up. Listening to the expansive range of Orzabal's baritone is one of the highlights of this lifetime for me. also, this is my fav song in an album filled with fantastic songs.

@@Mangosteencountry same here Roland is a GOAT! It's a shame that pretty much no songs from the Hurting were played on the radio in the United States, in my opinion it's one of the best albums from any band! Glad because of reaction videos Tears For Fears are getting the attention they've deserved for a long time!

This is the song that, once I happened to hear it on KZbin, I realized I had to 'rediscover' Tears for Fears. I was a child in the 1980s, so I knew their big radio hits, but not their deep album cuts like this, 'The Working Hour' is truly a magical song and puts you in another dimension. The instrumentals are sublime and Roland's vocals are amazing (there is a great live version of this from the Spotify Landmark Sessions in 2014 that I highly recommend you check out, as well). If you would like to hear another album cut that has a similar vibe to this, check out the song 'Standing on the Corner of the Third World'.

Love your reactions man. This is a very powerful song- all of TFF first 3 albums are extremely deep. First album is complex and raw, this album (second album) is more commercialized sounding but still deep and very successful. They gave it commercial polish without sacrificing the deepness much. Working Hour is a holy grail of emotional heavy hitter songs. TFF is so classy elegant and serious. Their music is like fine art. While somehow many songs still being easily able to rock out to. This is a very serious and sad song for me, not a party song at all. I love and respect this song and try to save it for special moments. I get a deep sadness from this song, makes me think of parents passing away. Its almost too powerful to listen to

Tears for Fears are such a wonderful band, one of my absolute favorites. Their production and engineering rivals Steely Dan and Thomas Dolby. If you'd like to hear another masterpiece of atmospheric music from them, check out Mr. Pessimist from their Elemental album. So glad you liked The Working Hour!

It's an underrated song, and my personal favorite from them. I still listen to this song fairly frequently, but when I was a kid in the 80s, for some reason I used to play it on repeat while I was playing Spy Hunter on my Nintendo *lol*, so now I am often reminded of the game when I listen to the song; not always, but fairly often.

The working hour is a beautiful song. All songs are open to interpretation. But this one especially after watching many interviews and indeed the music video. The song is about a little girl undergoing therapy. Their inspiration for Songs from the Big Chair was the film Cybil. A woman who presented with multiple personality disorder and was one of the first cases ever documented by psychologists. The working hour I believe this about therapy. The whole album is absolutely wonderful. Their follow up album The Seeds of Love is also amazing.

"Finnnd oooout what thisss feeear isss abooooooooooooooooout....." I fell in love for that gorgeous song from the very first time I heard it. I dare to say that The Working Hour is not one of the bests TFF's songs, but definitely THE BEST ONE EVER - I'm not exactly able to explain what has in that song that make it so unique and special, I feel that's because of the combination of that beautiful tiny sounds with the piano, Roland's voice + enter of solo sax, simply transfixes me quite. How can exist on Earth people who are able to compose a song like this??? Why are they so talented??? Just gives me existencial crisis for being so beautiful, it's really painful to hear this but in a good way, it really touches our souls... 🎶💕

Hey! TFF Roland the frontman said about this song their label was pushing them so hard to write the next album, Songs for the big chair for instance, They decided to write this song because they were fed up beeing put under this constant pressure saying to hurry up. This is the working hour the crew beeing paid by their own laborious creativity on which thé label cleverly takes bargain
