The older I get the more i incline to tyhe view that this was one of the Beatles finest moments. Simply stunning, so tight, full of heart, killer bridge with that undercurrent of menace, great vocals, powerhouse percussion, ah words fail me.. and all done in a couple of minutes, not a note or rest wasted. Wonderful

Lennon has never been more menacing than when he sings confidently, "That's a lie." Nor more destroyed than when he shouts, "I nearly died!" The song is a masterpiece. One of John's best.

Have never heard this before from the Beatles, but it certainly holds its own against some of their finest songs. Catchy, so true about young love in particular with love,jealousy and paranoia all in play here. The harmonising and arrangement is beautiful and so clever. Just when you think you have the tune under control it takes you to another place even better than before. Unforgettable. thanks you for your reaction

Well, being a 60 year old guy from the Midwest in the united states, this music was a part of my childhood. And this was their early phase but to me it just captures that feeling that I think most people experience when your Adolescent and even really into your early twenties, where everything is just so dramatic with relationships and potential relationships. And you think you're really starting to do something with somebody and then maybe you find out that's not the case and your heart is just broken at what you've seen. You just can't handle it at all. It's an extreme of course but everybody's gone through that infatuation at some point I know it. And I think they capture it so well here and John Lennon's voice is just absolutely perfect for that, I've never heard him sing anything that didn't have some amount of pain in it. Anyway, first time listener and I really enjoyed your reaction for sure.

Hi Nasa! The Beatles released their final new song 2 weeks ago on November 2nd, and the music video the next day on November 3rd. The name of the song is "Now and Then" and it is already #1 on Spotify in the UK, it debuted at #7 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. and is rising on all of the other worlds charts. I know you've done quite a lot of the Beatles catalogue, and I was really looking forward to your reaction to this song. Almost every other reactor has done a reaction to the music video already, and I am hoping to see yours while the song is still current. I recommend watching the short film on the making of the song first before watching the actual music video (and please watch the music video, not just listen to the song...the video is amazing). NASA, there is no one on the internet that double dips the Beatles better than you!! This was written by John Lennon but was not autobiographical. The R&B band The Rays had a song called Silhouettes. It was about a man walking by his girlfriend's house and seeing two shadows, presumably kissing, appearing on her bedroom window shade. This song was the inspiration for No Reply. Best wishes, RNB

Interesting factoids: John wrote most of No Reply in May 1964 when on holiday in Tahiti, but whilst John was away Paul had written *another* 'window' song - From A Window - and demo'd it for NEMS artist Billy J Kramer. Kramer recorded his version on May 29 (and took it to the Top 10). Then after John came back from Tahiti in June 1964 the Beatles recorded a demo of No Reply, while Ringo was in hospital, with Paul on drums. It was offered to Tommy Quickly, another NEMS artist, but Quickly wasn't interested and it languished. Eventually No Reply was brought back out of mothballs for Beatles For Sale in late Sept 1964. Paul's From A Window is a good tune, though not as good as No Reply. Anyway it's interesting they both wrote songs around the 'face in a window' image at about the same time while on opposite sides of the world. Perhaps both were inspired by the Rays 'Silhouettes'?

After all these years and there is an amazing backstory but it is so good, and for those that grew up with it, it packs such an emotional punch. Now And Then.

Don't think it was a real event hon....just a song....John Lennon working his song writing magic.......go investigate more Beatles compositions....gain a few thousand more subs ....and we'll enjoy the years long journey together 👍👍👍🎼🎼🎼
