@greggwilliamson I saw that study too. It blew my mind until I thought about how long ago it was and how much genetics would have spread. The US being a much younger nation only has a population of a little over 300mil while China boasts a population of 1.5bil. Given that The Great Kahn concured such a massive area and that his sons continued his behavior of war, rape, and pillage its not surprising that over the last several hundreds of years his genetics have spread across the world. It's actually kind of cool to think about. I've always wanted to take a DNA ancestry test and see which genetics I inherited from my ancestors.

The original purpose of the great wall was to defend their land from the Mongolian military. This is a beautiful offer from this band. Throat singing is very old & quite incredible. Greg Look up on the lyrics of Wolf Totem. You are correct about this song. They sing in Mongolian about defending in case if attackers tried to attack them. Mongolia is one of the reasons that China builds the Great Wall.

No. That is wrong. The singing is called Mongolian khuumii. This style has kind if 4 types. One of them relates to Uriankhai/Tuvan khuumii.

Genghis Kahn and company took over more territory than any ever. If you joined them their reputation protected you. If not, you died.

Give Sugaa Essena a listen. It's incredible. It's from one of the Star Wars movies and it's actually in a made up language. These guys are Mongolian throat singers, and some of the instruments they use are traditional Mongolian instruments that you've probably never heard of. They make me want to jump on a horse and follow them into war.

This song, after learning they were decedents of Genghis Khan, made me look deeper into Genghis Khan, because we have been taught he was an evil man. Of course in today's society he would be considered an evil man, but you have to consider the time in which he lived, totally different than what society expects now. Genghis Khan wanted unity for all Mongolians, he wanted all tribes together and part of his army instead of fighting one another. Now if you surrendered, it is said he was quite lenient and you joined his army, but if you wanted to fight, well then it was on and he and his army were going to win. That's basically what this song is saying, they do not want trouble, but if you want to start trouble and bring evil intentions their way, they'll have no problem finishing it. Great reaction vid!

This song ALWAYS brings to mind a hypothetical 'what-if' scenario: IF the Mongolian Horse Clans at the HEIGHT of their strength/power (which I believe was under Genghis Khan, but please correct me if I'm wrong about that) would have faced off against the Native American Indian tribes at the HEIGHT of their strength/power, who would actually win? YES, I know that BOTH Peoples were in different parts of the world, and as far as we currently know neither group had any interaction with each other, and both Peoples were from different time periods. However, that being said, BOTH Peoples were highly trained Mounted Warriors, and mostly lived in similar areas (meaning primarily plains), and both Peoples seemed to be equally trained/skilled as Mounted Warriors. So again, in a hypothetical 'what-if' scenario, who would actually win? Just always wondered about that.
