Hey Greatness Gang! I went back and listened to the official audio of Gimmie Shelter (much cleaner version). The lyrics are powerful! Especially Merry’s breakdown at the end.

Yes Merry Clayton, the back up singer is an amazing black woman. The night she recorded the back up track, Mick came to her house to pick her up. She was pregnant and in her rollers, and night clothes, and went into the studio. 😁🤘❤️🎼 You can see her story and other amazing soul back up singers from that time in an awesome documentary called 20 Feet from Stardom!!!😁🤘❤️🎼

Gimme Shelter BTW was written after the Stones witnessed the near revolution that took place in May 1968 in Paris when students and workers took to the streets in protest. Jagger and Richards wrote the song about the dark and angry mood and their fears for the future effectively.

Hot Rocks was a greatest hits comp released in the early 70s. The Stones carried on for decades and are about to release a brand new album in 2 weeks! They have 2 singles in the charts right now...even though they are around 80 years old. Merry Clayton added the powerhouse vocals to Gimme Shelter.

Paint It Black is hypnotic. I went to my first Stones concert sure I did not know their music, only the name. Foolish youth, right out of the gate I knew what I didn't know. On first listens, I find any band's lyric video a great place to start.

The lyrics to Gimme Shelter are incredibly important. There is a lyric video similar to the one you watched for Paint It Black. The Stones are commonly known as the greatest rock band of all time. I don't know about that but they are integral to music history and still incredibly popular.

My favourite band. Gimme Shelter is one of the most powerful recordings in popular music history, period. And Merry Clayton’s vocal is the highlight of the song, punctuated by Richards’ rhythm guitar, Jagger’s harmonica solo, and the groove that Watts and Wyman settle into on the drums and bass respectively. Fantastic. Paint It Black is also great obviously. These two songs give you a good sense of why the band has a bit of a reputation for darkness, which is part of their mystique. This is a good time groove band but one with a seriously dark and hard edge to it.

The Rolling Stones formed in 1962 and they are still together and still touring. That album is a greatest hits album from that time. To date they have released 28 albums. The most recent album Hackney Diamonds was released this year with the newly released single, Angry. There is a music video out for Angry.

It is their LAST tour ending in New York where they started in 1973, 50 years ago! I live in Southern California in case you wanted to know. 😉

@KingGreatnessKG You really should add KISS to your list. Just know that if you react to *I Was Made for Loving You* first, that is their one and only dance disco song. That isn't their usual hard rock sound. Some rock bands in 70's jumped on the disco wagon and would release one disco song. Blondie did it. Rod Stewart did it. Know that KISS is hard rock and that you should *ALWAYS* watch a live version because they are the ones who started having pyrotechnics in their shows back in the 70's.

The Rolling Stones just released a brand new album a couple weeks ago. The Rolling Stones newest single is called "Sweet Sounds Of Heaven" and was released 5 days ago. The song also features Lady Gaga & Stevie Wonder. I recommend doing a reaction to that song, but first, please do a reaction to the official audio version of the Rolling Stones song "Sympathy for the Devil". And also, at some point, please do a reaction to the studio recording of Led Zeppelin's "Since I've Been Loving You". Peace

You should have hit Gimme Shelter Lyrics. Sympathy for the Devil is the natural next song to explore. Make sure you hit up the lyrics and when you get a chance check out the lyric video for Gimme shelter. The lyrics of this band was amazing at the time. They just dropped one a little over a week ago with Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder playing piano called Sweet Sound of Heaven. Has a gospel sound and worth the time to check out. again lyrics and do the long version (7 minutes). It is the best song they have dropped in about 30 years. They are still putting out new music. A few years ago they played live in front of over one million people in South America. There is a video. Thes cats have been rocking since 1962. There are only two original member of the band from the original line up. Keith Richards and Mickk Jagger. The original Drummer recently passed away, Charlie Watts was over 80 years old and was still playing with the band until the end.
