They morphed into this band in the '80s, but they did their best stuff in the '70s. They released their first album in '75, with probably their signature song, White Punks on Dope. Everybody loved it, but kids didn't know they were making fun of the life. I still have What Do You Want From Live, which I bought in 1978 when it was released. It has my all time favorite Tubes song, What Do You Want From Life. If you get to see a video of them in '77, you'll trip out. I saw The Tubes in Detroit in 1975 and 1976. They were a very theatrical group and put on a show with numerous props and costumes. In 1975, when fat-back televisions were about all you could get, they filled the stage with a backdrop of fat-back tv screeens. There was a lot going on onstage, plus a lot more on those screens.
