This was a rare song that legit got me to cry after dealing with a family death. STRAIGHT CLASSIC!
@RosscoPeko1872 жыл бұрын
Fun fact... This song is deliberately written with a dichotomy. It expresses Richards troubles with recreational drug use AND the pain of watching his father go through chemotherapy for cancer. The false dichotomy being that recreational drugs can give an instant high but have a come down and are usually the source of a lot of pain but chemo has an instant degradation in health with only a potential for improvement. The unfortunate fact is this one was written back in the 90's before we had the developments in cancer treatments and survivability was only about 50-75%. It's a beautiful way to write a song and influenced me massively and also touched a nerve because I lost my own father only 3 years prior to cancer ♥️

Top tune from '97. Originally talked about Ashcroft's recreational drug use and knowing he'd keep taking them even though they made things worse. Since been linked to death of his father in law (cancer) and the chemo.

Richard Ashcroft, Noel & Liam Gallagher are 3 of the greatest singer songwriters and you really can't go wrong listening to them. RA is my personal favorite artist.
