I'm American and I started listening to these guys 5 years ago. I quickly became addicted to their music and their live shows -- particularly the ones starting with their specular revival in 2006-7. I recommend exploring their work from then forward before going back to the 1990s things. Their new studio album is their 9th UK no. 1. '"Windows" is the best song. Other big hits from the past are "Rule the World" and "The Flood." I like "Let In the Sun" live at the Brit Awards. The tour stagings are amazing too, e.g. "Shine" from "The Circus Live" and "Kidz" from the "Progress" tour.

I'm an American as well and I latched onto this group from their beginnings almost 30 years ago! I'm ashamed of the American music industry for ignoring one of the very best singing groups that ever existed----anywhere at any time.

Take That only had one big hit in the U.S. but in the U.K. And other parts of the world they were and still are huge! They broke up shortly after Back For Good became a hit in the U.S. and then came back together in 2006. Robbie Williams was one of the original members and he has had a massive solo career. Definitely check out some of their other songs! I would say their first years were very much pop but in their second wave they have a lot of diverse sounding albums that range from pop to more rock. Their album Progress was made when Robbie Williams re-joined the band for a time and I think you might find that one interesting!

Take That is big. Gary Barlow is lead on this. He also wrote the song. Grow up listening to them and I'm from south Africa.

I’m a manly man, at least I think I am, but I just love Take That. I think the term “boy band” turns a lot of guys off. But when you listen you get it. I have a man crush on all of these guys and as a straight married guy I am okay with that.

And the main guy singing in this song wasnt even the one who became the most famous. With was the one with the buzz cut - Robbie Williams.

Gary is the primary musical talent, but Mark Owen has songwriting talent too and has released a few solo albums. Some recent TT songs are clearly his. Howard is known mainly as 'the harmony king.' All three of the remaining members are part of the musical mix.

Looking at some of the other stuff you've reacted to, I think you would enjoy some of their later 00s stuff, esp their live performances. Their live band is also Jeff Lynne's ELO live band.

Try some of their live concert performances from after they reformed. The circus concert is incredible, but the 'progress' tour when Robbie rejoined is amazing (saw it live at Wembley). Try Kidz in particular from that one. Or the performance of Kidz live at the Brits. Also Robbie on his own - he was one of the biggest stars in the world in the late 90s/early 2000s everywhere but the US. Try one of his songs live from the Knebworth 2003 concert (Angels, feel, come undone, monsoon, let me entertain you etc etc).

The best thing that came from this band is Robbie Williams lol. On a side note Gary Barlow who sang lead here did a song with Agnetha (from ABBA) called I Should Have Followed You Home, there is a video you should react to it.

I wouldn't say the best thing to come from it was Robbie. Gary had and has more talent in his little finger than Robbie does. Gary wrote all the songs and today still writes for other artists

@@overthewebb ok I should have inserted in MY personal opinion. Gary Barlow is very talented, no denying that.

Robbie is mainly a showman with some musical & lyrical ideas, but he has relied heavily on Guy Chambers to turn his ideas into songs. Gary has written many on his own, top to bottom -- he wrote "Back for Good" at his piano in under an hour, he says -- though he likes collaborating and he also doesn't mind letting other people have the spotlight. He wrote that song for Agnetha, and one for Shirley Bassey, and the music for a couple of musicals so far (one together with Eliot Kennedy). I'll admit that I don't much like Robbie's preening personality. But objectively, Gary is by far the better musician and his overall contribution to music is greater.

@@ermengard6960 I really like Robbie also and he is maybe the better 'showman' of the band as in getting the crowd fired up, but Gary holds a crowd in his hands as well, it's just Gary's songs are kinda slow. Gary just has way more talent and history will judge him better as a musician and songs than Robbie. As you said Robbie wrote Jack on his own without Gary at first then Guy. Women just fell in love with Robbie due to his looks and performance over his talent
