The Live version with Tina dancing is literally ICONIC. Shaped my childhood dance aspirations.

Everyone gonna say the same thing... this woman is a force of nature. You gotta see her do this live. The 60s version is hot and sweaty. But the 90s version is ansolutely euphoric.

fun fact: when they made a Tina Turner biopic in 1993, Angela Basset played her, wonderfully. But Tina herself stood in as the "stunt legs" in the close-up performance footage, since neither Angela nor anyone else had the amazing legs that this legend STILL does!

Tina Turner is the ultimate performer!!! Love her. I wish you were seeing the video she’s so amazing. I don’t remember a day in my house growing up where there wasn’t music. For that I was blessed. I am grateful I was exposed to blues, jazz, folk, rock, country and when MTV came put then I got rap as well. I play clarinet so I also got all the classical and love the standards like Bing Crosby

James, I am so happy that you are finally getting to hear the music you missed while growing up, but I suspect even this was before your time. My folks grew up in the Big Band era and loved "popular" music. My mom even worked at Capitol Records for a while, so we always had records on the hi-fi or the radio playing. No child should grow up without music in the home. And, boy, do you have a lot great songs yet to discover.

Just saw your reaction. I'm guessing by now you've seen the live version. I saw her perform it in her 60's and the SAME energy and intensity!!! She's a rock icon. You mentioned it reminded you of New Orleans so I'd like to suggest one that you might like. Shaft - theme song from the movie Shaft. It came out in the 70's and the year of my first Mardi Gras. Now, the NOLA high school bands always want to play a popular song for the Mardi Gras parades and this was the one. Watchin those kids play and dance to this with those tubas !!! Hooked me on the town 4evah. 2 other similar songs from that period - Fred is Dead and Superfly. Great Dancing Songs.

I feel the need to boost your Earth, Wind and Fire education. I think you would love some of their songs that didn't get much air time on pop music radio but are considered classics for true EWF connoisseurs. Try "Can't Hide Love" ... "Reasons" ... "Imagination" ... (so many more but lets start there). I also recommend a classic Motown tune called "Bernadette" by the Four Tops. I KNOW you'll love it.
