You have to do more U2, so much great music. The first song recollection I have is Sunday Bloody Sunday, back in the early days of MTV, that was just a really cool video to me when I was kid.

There are so many good U2 songs... I Still Haven't Found what I'm Looking For, Where the Streets Have no Name, Mysterious Ways, With or Without You, Sunday Bloody Sunday. Like others have said, you get sounds from the 80's, 90's, 00's......

We get to carry each other... We get to, not we have to. We get to. It's a privilege, to be able to look after one another, to look after our fellow humanity. A message that seems sadly lost in early 2024 😢

Really enjoyable reaction. For me, it seems like U2 and REM just kind of came on the college rock scene in my early years of college. And back then I had the opportunity to go see them early on, well both of those bands and a whole lot more in that time frame, and it was really great because they weren't big enough to play really large venues but they were really really good already. And their records just started taking over and eventually started crossing over into mainstream, but that took a number of years. I've also seen U2 much more recently, like 10 years ago on that tour where they built three different arenas out in three different cities at staggered times, because it took weeks and hundreds of semi trucks and it employed thousands of people. And then the concert would move between these three locations and it was really mind-boggling but it was really good.

They were formed in Dublin Ireland in 1976 by Larry Mullen Jr the Drummer of the Band from then right up till today others members are Bono lead singer " The Edge " lead Guitar 🎸 and Bass Guitar Adam Clayton if you want the best U2 reactions youd be better off doing live versions from they're concert's check out " Where the streets have no name" live from Slane Castle in Ireland filmed in 2001 in front of 88'000 fans its epic

I don't I've ever had anyone ask which U2 song I've ever heard first, especially in a video like this. I do remember it; it was "New Year's Day," which was one of their first hits. The second one I heard was an amazing and extremely underrated song called, "Drowning Man." I was pretty much hooked after that.

Drowning Man, é espetacular! Aquela levada dos violões, a letra e voz do Bono no topo!!

Thanks for the u2 reaction. They've been my favorite band since the 80s! There are often multiple interpretations possible in their lyrics. This song was written at a time when they were struggling as a band, and reportedly almost brokle up. So one interpretation is that the song is about that struggle. Lines like "we're one but we're not the same, you get to carry each other" make sense to me in that context.

Amongst all the other rock bands I was listening to in the 80s, U2 stood out like an oak tree in a field of weeds.. no other mainstream mega band then or even now singing about Christ, hope, righteous anger, relationships, social issues etc.. on rock radio and Mtv ?! Whole other level this band

Ya they were considered THE Rock band for over a decade. No other band had such universal appeal as U2. Deserved also. They are amazing.

Bono’s ego went a little sideways post 9/11. They made some marketing blunders(iPhone album launch) and their rep went down the drain sadly. Now a new Gen is here and almost grown that has missed them as a consequence. They are still one of the greatest bands of the last 40 years for sure.

@@CandideQuixote they definitely had the pop / rock market cornered for a good 12 years there. I don't say "pop / rock" as an insult either.

Lyrics in this are amazing, music is amazing, vocals are amazing. I just love how this song is built. Like all these quotable one liners "You gave me nothing and now its all I've got", "One life but we're not the same we get to carry each other", "I cant be holding on to what you've got when all you've got is hurt", "You act like you've never had love and want me to go without" I could quote the whole song

Late to the party here, but the first time that I really paid attention to U2 was kind of late to the party as well. I knew who they were. I didn't dislike any of their songs that I'd heard, but I didn't really follow them either, until "Angel of Harlem" was all over the radio around New Year's 1989. I loved the song, and so began my U2 journey.

These guys got started right at the start of the 80's and have been going strong since. This is from their sixth studio album "Achtung Baby." You've probably heard songs from their 5 album "Joshua Tree" and didn't realize it was them. I've loved them in every era, but some people prefer their 80's songs, some prefer the 90's, others the 2000's. They are still making music too. But yea a lot of people will try to sway your opinion of one era or another. I suggest you take it all with a grain of salt, try different eras and see if you like one more than the other or all of them like many of their fans do :) Bono's voice changed a lot over the years, but it's been great in every era. If you want to hear more power, go to the 80's (though you can get some of that same power in the 90's and later he doesn't use it as often anymore once he got to a certain age). A Sort of Homecoming from their Unforgettable Fire album is a great example of just how powerful his voice can be!

❤ U2 is the story of my life. I’ve seen them 47 times in concert since 1987 and their music and lyrics and principles of life. I’m very lucky to experience them through 4 decades. Enjoy the ride there a top five band of all time hands-down.

One recorded in Berlin, according to Bono this song was the one that took the band out of the writer's block, there were a lot of infighting between the band members due to the fact that some of them were going through divorces around that time. And for a minute, they thought they didn't have it no more, but came this song and it changed the whole dynamic within the studio sessions. It was one of the hardest albums to make and you can hear it in the lyrics, transitioning from the 80's all Saviour band to a 90's band surrounded by irony and the changing global environment the fall of communism in the middle of it, not an easy landscape to navigate. The band was also listening to a lot of dance music, so you could see influences of dance and other rhythms and also the creation of Alter Egos by the moniker of THE FLY an over-the-top ROCK STAR with leather pants and OVERSIZED glasses decadent and egocentric the whole opposite and how BONO and the band was. One serves as a balance in between an album of Self Indulgence and Deconstruction a glimmer of Hope among the Chaos. There are 3 versions of the song the Berlin one, the buffalo cliff one and this one, all of them filmed by French Artist Anton Cobijn.

On my 14th Birthday, my mom of all influences gifted the Joshua Tree because of my name. Quickly, devoured Boy, War and the Unforgettable Fire. She's 81 now and an avid reader. Not been able to find an author to match her gift to me, My advice to the 14 year olds. If your 16 year old neighbor girl shows interest in a gift of music you have never heard of and says she is willing to take it off your hands, you might be holding on to something that will bring your life to greater highs and rescue you in the lows.

People crying and still mad at U2 for the iPhone thing are ridiculous. Get over it. You had free music from a legendary band that you could delete if you didn't want. People were weird for that. Glad you enjoyed this song! Would love to see you react to more U2. Start with their early stuff and you can see/hear them evolve their sound as time passed. Throw in some live versions of songs because that's where they excel - their live performances

Great band but so successful they've become a bit sneered at/joked about, not helped by Bono being a bit full of himself sometimes, which is a shame as they had some great hits. Iconic 80s band though, big part of charity singles like Band Aid's Do They Know It's Christmas, Walk On, or Lou Reed&co Perfect Day etc. With or Without You is U2's biggest I think.

I believe U2 is kinda religious band... it means that in this song 'One love' is real Love which comes from the Lord... the saddest thing is that most of women never found it.. I think Bono refers to that through the lyrics (in other songs too). He wants to see real love in other person (woman). The fact that he can't is so emotional... it happens to many of us I guess
