WayV (WeiShen V) - January 17, 2019 - is the 4th subunit of NCT. WayV the first sub-unit of NCT based outside of Korea. WayV is under SM Entertainment’s China-exclusive label, Label V. WayV is currently a fixed unit of six members, who are either Chinese citizens by birth or have Chinese ancestry. WayV songs are sung in mostly Mandarin.

WayV's "Miracle" is a track video not an official MV, so it's a shorter version of the song. With the last 2 NCT albums SM has created track videos for all the songs on NCT's album, which is like a preview of the album. That is why the "Miracle" video is shorter than a regular MV. As you can see, even though WayV is the Chinese sub-unit of NCT, they often do English songs. With all the political issues between China and Korea, and the fact that the pandemic made it difficult for them to promote in China, I think this is one reason why SM decided to give them an English song like "Miracle." It will probably help them to avoid any issues when and if WayV is ever able to get back to promoting in China. There are normally 6 or 7 members in WayV -- Kun, Ten, Xiaojun, Hendery, YangYang, WinWin and former member Lucas. However, there are only 5 members who participated in "Miracle" because Lucas was on hiatus due to some controversies and WinWin was busy with solo activates, promoting and filming in China. If you haven't checked out their dance practice video for "Miracle" yet, you should. Ten who is NCTs' overall main dancer and one of the top dancers in Kpop in general, helped to create the most iconic parts of this choreography.

Miracle track video is great but seeing the dance practice to it is what makes you get the complete experience. WayV is something else on the dance floor. No other group in kpop can move with such finesse and steeze. In fact each one of their dance practices is a must-watch! Ten, the one with seaweed green hair in this video (and with the ponytail and plaid suit in Action Figure), is one of the top 3 dancers, if not the best, in the entire kpop.

In kpop, every idol goes thru years of training before they're ever allowed on stage. They typically start between 14-17 y/o (often even younger these days) and spend 8-16 hours a day training (just depending whether they're still having to do school too). Unless their parents/family live in Seoul, they are often living away from home, in dorms with other trainees and maybe a manager to keep tabs on them. If they're foreign trainees they get the added stress of not knowing the language and having to learn Korean as they go. They are unpaid, and most likely accruing debt for their housing and training during this time... they also have no guarantee they'll even get to debut and go through weekly/monthly evaluations, all in a highly competitive environment where they can be dropped in a moment. The people who do make it to debut tend to be a combination of the best trainees, that are the hardest workers. Idols literally give up their teen years in pursuit of their dreams... BUT as many dark aspects that the industry seriously needs to work on, there's no denying the end result. The training is what makes kpop so special and gives its performers that highly polished skill set at suuuuch a young age, that the rest of the world currently can't compete with, imo.

I love NCT in general, they're like Exo's lil brothers. Miracle is one of my favorite WayV songs. This NCT sub unit needs more love seriously. SM does them so dirty - historically the non-Korean artists, especially Chinese artists, have been discriminated against and/or not promoted properly. SM is a shady company in general for how they mistreat, underpay, and overwork their artists. They are also known to have some of the best vocalists in the industry and have introduced me to my favorite artists (Exo, Shinee, Girl's Generation, Red Velvet, Super Junior, NCT, TVXQ, etc) so I have a love/hate relationship with the company. That's my mini rant for today, but this song is awesome. This video is the short version of the song. If you find the lyric video, you'll hear the full song.
