You should wear your umrah dress before meeqat and after when you passed on meeqat you have to make niyat for umrah then you should start saying “labaik allahumma labbaik labbaik kala shareekala ka laka labbaik inal hamda wan niyamata lakawal mulk la shareek ka lak” until you reach kaaba. I know this is your first time but next time before doing umrah do some research Jazakallah

They didn’t check, as far as I know. But I had my Umrah permit, since when I was booking the flight, it said I must book a permit. My guess is they might have checked it when I provided my visa at the hotel.
