Its a common name in Korea too and I think the reason why it is common in both countries is because some Japanese names (especially thos with two syllables) have their origins in Korea or China.

There is a difference between “ㅇ” and “ㄹ” so the pronunciation is different. It is a unique name. In Japanese, they cannot speak the last word in Korean. So “류진”, the last word “진”, you can see the 3 characters: ”ㅈ”,”ㅣ”,”ㄴ”, but in Japan, there is no pure Japanese character to pronounce the last sound “ㄴ”. So they will say like “Ji-n) I'm not saying that it's not a Japanese name at all but it's pronounced different
