help me out here... Now I LOVE your reactions, been listening to you since Hi Ren. I am no rap fan, I don't understand the rules or the culture of it. BUT I do understand what I like to listen to and I do understand clever word play. Which by watching 100s of reactors is a key part of rap yes? Please tell me what I am missing here? I do not 'get' this at all. I hear the word play, but I don't see it as intelligent or creative. Sure there are a few lines sprinkled in but with Ren I see the whole big picture. The word play is on another level. I think sometimes so intelligently done many miss the doubles, trebles and even quadruple meanings in his lyrics. I don't see that here, and even in the places I do kinda see it, surely its subjective? like when a comedians say funny one liners. Some people find it funny others don't. So many people dont get Ren or Knox either because we all like different things? This is where I am with Dotta. I hear the lines and play on words and it does nothing for me. But most of all, to compare Dotta with Knox OR Ren i find Dotta very boring, monotenous and samey with every other generic rapper. Ren is so different, I enjoy his style and his switch ups and his incredible word play. Knox is also much more pleasing to the ear. Don't get me wrong, I understand this is a battle of words and it's competion. and I look forward to see what they can both pull out of the bag. but I just don't see why everyone thinks Dotta is fire when to me its the same old generic rubbish and you can't tell who from who if he was in a play list of 100 other rappers. Sorry, just my opinion. No hate to Dotta just my personal uneducated view of this. I can only come as part of the general population who like to listen to good music. With Ren I see the talent even if I don't fully understand the rap rules. But with Dotta I just don't even see the talent. the fact its boring puts me to sleep too. Just want to skip to the next. I NEVER do that with Ren. So, what am I missing??

Can you handle the truth? I'll give it straight to you, no filters here. First of all, in this culture, especially underground rap battling, there's this term we call certain rappers 'bully' rappers. These are the rappers you'll see in rap battle compilations, like Rain man, like Busta Rhymes, you know people with deep voices and the ability to project their voice, to project their vocals out and give it ENERGY and VIBE, and will go and say some deep personal attacks to one's character, or different parts of their lives. For example, in my perspective, I know Knox Hill to some extent, and Ren a little bit, and King Dotta even much less, only know and heard 2 of King Dotta's disses to Grizzy and to New future Flash, two rappers I also suggest you listen to as they do have a similar ENERGY as well. My first impressions when King Dotta speaks his words and his bars, is like he's got a heavy impact, punch line after punch line, like you're also getting hit with that ENERGY, like you start to feel sorry for who he's dissing, that kind of feeling of not wanting to get attacked with that energy. Imagine you getting disrespected and bullied out in the streets, someone spitting on your face with that ENERGY, you'll feel like you want to shell up and retreat. Also possible here is something called 'cognitive dissonance' and even idol defending, psychologically speaking, a fan or a follower instinctively wants to defend the person they like, or love, or admire, that they have been following for years and spent time and energy watching their content and stuff. Again another example of me is that I was a fan of Cannibis and Eminem, loved Cannibis's style, great technicals, really good vocals, and same with Eminem, especially his word play and how crazy it can get. Until, when I see them both beefing and I damn near felt TERRIBLE, and I don't what to do, or who to side with, cuz I damn near liked and followed them both. Maybe, and I could be wrong here, you're more of a fan for Ren and/or Knox Hill, you've followed and watched their content for entertainment's sake and leisure, to pass the time like most viewers do, so you have in your mind Knox Hill and Ren as more valuable because they help you pass time and entertain you. Then comes King Dotta, a Rapper you know liitle of, and starts attacking Knox Hill and Ren, of course you'd get defensive and try to protect Knox Hill and Ren, similar to me, cuz I used to be fans of Knox Hill and Ren, and I'd get defensive when some kind of attack is happening to them, but this dynamic of cognitive dissonance and this fan to content maker para social relationship got in the way of me appreciating the rap battle, and forced me to pick a side just so I can get away from this cognitive dissonance. My 2 cents, and I could be wrong in all that psychological assessment, but I hope it helps you a bit and hope it gives you some insights into what could be happening in your experience. Cheers!

@@danielnelson3136 Wow! Thank you for such a detailed reply. Yes I was asking a genuine question and I thank you for pointing out a lot of things that would have gone straight over my head. I see the whole 'cognitive dissonance' thing. and in part I agree, however, I just cannot listen to any pure rap, even Knox's as I really don't like that type of rap. And I'm trying to understand it, I listen to the breakdown of the bars etc in manty reaction channels and I mn kinda getting there with it. But as I said I'm no expert and comming from a place where I like what I like. I just don't like Dotta's style. Regardless of any diss to anyone. I don't like any rapper that sounds like him ( and to ME they al do sound the same) who have no association with Ren or Knox. That's just my personal preference. I'm intrigued to know why you say you 'used' to be a fan of Ren and Knox though?

I went down a rabbit hole of watching reactions to Knox Hill's "The Pot & The Kettle"; this is how I found your channel. Your reactions, commentary, explanations, and storytelling are not only inciteful, but are fcuking Hilarious!!! AND, you are the one that actually got me to listen to (through this reaction video) a Dotta song. Originally I wasn't going to watch any of his stuff, but you hyped him up enough that I said screw it, I'll cave and see what started it all with Knox burying, resurrecting and re-burying him. Then even got Ren to dig him back up, shred him to bits only to turn around & give him a get well soon card, band aids and a gift basket (lol). Ren is amazing & one of a kind! Anyhoo, I hope you keep doing what you are doing and that your channel continues to keep growing. You deserve it in my opinion :)

I don't think he called him a em clone just cuz he a white rapper, if you notice most of the yt rap scene like crypt/Knox/gawne/dax/etc all came out doing "fast lyrical rap" after em made it popular with the song Rap God, but they don't have the writing talent em has so it always sounds like word salad with no meaning. That's where the "lyrical spiritual miracle" meme came from and gawne literally has a song called "flibbity hibbity" that pokes fun at that.

fast lyrical rap isn't new...UK rap since late 80's was known for it's fast hardcore style... it was called Britcore. It's not new from guys like knox... UK rappers been rapping triple and fast lyricas for decades. Many US rappers did it too in 90's... some didn't mena much lyrically but some were done well. Depends who you listened to. I think this track is okay lyrically but very generic monotone rap that I've heard done the same by many other 90's, early 2000's rappers. It's a 6 out of 10 from me... but I've never been into slow monotone rap much... this is just my opinion and sure many will disagree, which is fine.

@@reggiegimmix9128 I know that, I've been listening to UK grime for over 10 years. US rappers like Big L and Busta Rhymes rapped fast all the time in the 90s. But fast rap only started getting popular on youtube since after Eminem's Rap God.

This is the result of an extension to murphys law. "If you make something idiot-proof, someone will just make a better idiot." I know both Knox and Dotta are your guys but youre spending a lot of time gassing both of them. Im not going to go either direction with this track vs that track, because i honestly dont have a large enough sample size for a fair opinion. The rule of 30 isn't meet (at least for me) so i will withold any critcism for both until i listen to more of their tracks to form an accurate opinion from my perspective. With that said, simply talking about the reaction (not the lyrics) there's entirely to much fluff and not enough raw honesty. You was trying to not seem like you favoring one of your boys over the other. Thats facts. Take a step back and be real with yourself and i think you will agree. I get it too, no disrespect at all. Acting like these tracks were so phenomenal you had to wipe your face and pause for every "you want the crown ill give you the thorns" or "your hearts like water" bar dropped is a little fan clubish. Respect to both Knox and Dotta, they both did their thing though. For now i just thought they was both meh...but maybe I just missed the next level bars and cadence. Once I have more to draw from maybe the picture will be different. (Side note...if people don't know this isn't real check your six beef then they need to walk)

@@DOTTAisKING your right. Knox doesn’t need to believe in a fictional character to give his skill. You stumble over your own words and your thought process shows that your pen is out of ink. The diss would have been better if you left all your mental “uhhhhhhs”when trying to formulate your lines, not bars , lines. @@DOTTAisKING so because you have 1 quadruple that makes you a god? Nobody found it yet cause obviously it’s wack as hell. Knox has constant triples in every scheme that can be understood. Nobody needs to force themselves, Knox has a better pen game and a smoother flow. Your pen game is more like a broken crayon than a pen. Hell a lava lamp flows better. You hesitate in your delivery and your off beat. I’m not saying Knox is the best as there are other rappers much better than Knox like Ren, Tom Macdonald, Ronnie, etc… You just don’t fit in that category. I understand the truth of reality can be painful to hear and don’t get me wrong, you have talent. I would be upset as well if I put my heart and soul into what I believe just to just upstaged by a stereotypical American family man with a 9-5 and KZbin channel. You just need to elevate your game, own it, read a book, swear on the Bible, do something to get up to Knox level.
