Blackpink come up with set ideas, concepts, their hair colors, and basically the overall vibe. They can all produce and write, but they also have a producer named teddy who mostly produces for them, however they are present every step of the way and nothing moves forward without Blackpink giving input and approving.

They 'also have a producer TEDDY'? He's the driving force behind most BLACKPINK productions along with his hit making team at THEBLACKLABEL like R.Tee, 24, etcetera and occasionally FUTURE BOUNCE. Whether or not the BP members all CAN produce and write is somewhat irrelevant when the company rarely lets them because YG knows Teddy consistently makes hit songs. Perhaps you meant 'COMPOSE' when you said 'PRODUCE', there's no evidence whether or not the members actually can PRODUCE' a song in the way the industry uses that term (like let's say 소연 who helps produce her group's songs, though her title tracks are hit or miss for me -- some I love, some I don't care for) and the members have zero PRODUCER credits though Jennie (LSG) and Rosé (on her solos) have COMPOSING credits in addition to the LYRICS credits on those songs (and Jisoo's lyric credit on LSG). I imagine Lisa will have credits on her solo like Rosé did. Two former YG trainees Chaein and Ireh are now in PURPLE KISS and their company rbw apparently allows girl group members to be more involved in writing songs for the group (though someone at rbw loses points from me for letting MAMAMOO lean so heavily on Spanish guitar sounds as a crutch for the past 2 years). BLACKPINK will ALWAYS be my favorite group, but let's not overstate how much they're allowed to be involved in songwriting. On the upside no other group has such a solid track record for great b-sides (though the 2 songs written and produced by Tommy Brown are my least favorite by far, he doesn't fit the group's style that well -- I'd be willing to give up on any potential future AriPink collab if it meant no more Tommy Brown songs).

You're definitely wrong on the last bit about the song. Kill This Love is not merely meant for women, otherwise we'd have to assume that toxic relationships are a preserve for women. BLACKPINK doesn't "customise" their music to only be relatable to women. Their discography is very diverse and inclusive, catering to both men and women. It's then no surprise they're currently the biggest girl band in the world.

Apparently none of the commenters have seen their interview with Zach Sang. Teddy Park is the master producer at YG, now BlackYG. While he creates the basic song and lyrics, he write the lyrics in English and Jennie with Lisa creates the Korean/English lyrics from Teddy's "outline". Also Jisoo is considered an excellent arranger. The founding CEO of YG prevented idols from being credited, by not acknowledging the input of the performing idols going back to 2NE1 and Big Bang. It's a money thing. Jennie wrote and produced "Solo" and Rose' wrote both of her solo projects. I expect Lisa and Jisoo's solo project to be the same. There are videos of "Making the Video" (including this one) that will give you insight as to how YG creates their MV's.

But, Korea has a lot of sexism, so while they allow the male idols to produce and compose, the companies don't allow the girls to do the same and actually we already know that some of them have helped writing some songs and they don't receive credits. Only in the last songs they started receiving some credits, but since beggining they're helping with the creative process (all of them, but specially Jennie - the first one that appeared) and they don't receive the credits, because the company keeps to themselves. But the beat is a Teddy thing, he's really a f*cking genius and considered Blackpink's fifth member.

Most of Blackpink songs were produced by a guy nicknamed Teddy at YG entertainment. If you are interested in a Kpop girl group that self compose and produce, try (G)-I-dle. Its leader Soyeon, only 22 years old, composed and produced most of their songs, plus songs for other artists. She is also arguably the best girl rapper in Korea. The song is talking about toxic relationships, it's saying to look at yourself and see why you keep getting into unhealthy relationships then "kill" that part of your personality, the part that makes all the wrong decisions so you can choose someone better next time and have a healthy relationship. Jennie (jen-e)on the swans was saying that she keeps repeating her mistakes. Lisa (lee-sa) was stealing all the sweet cereal, she wants everything even though it's just a short quick "sugar" high. Rosé (Ro-ZAY) was driving the car the car into herself, the license plate said "EGO", and Jisoo (Ji-Sue)was weak-willed, she was destroyed by her stronger, future self with a flaming arrow.

Bout ur quest regarding the contribution of them into the mv setting and ideas, i hv watch few videos of behind the scene where they mention tat they will have m/v discussion and this girls will give some ideas they plan to do in the m/v and then itz depending on hw the directior acceptance. Even some of their song's lyric they actually came up with their own lyrics but due to the company requirement, they wun include credits for tat. The man responsible to all the insane songs production and lyrics is their producer & writer Teddy Park.

Blackpink is signed to one of the former big three entertainment companies in South Korea they have no control basically over what they perform seeing their music videos the big three are known to treat some of their performers not in a kind way! On the other hand HYBE labels corporation formerly known as big hit entertainment BTS is fine with started out as an underdog one of the smallest companies in South Korea they are now the giant one in South Korea they own eight other companies including one in the United States and one in Japan they have 62 artist signed to them including 20 plus artists in the United states in all genres! The reason this song has so many views is because until 2000 they had 17 songs in four years and no albums in contrast BTS has over 30 albums and 300 songs and are free to make the sounds they want to know control from there label!

No green screen EVER, every set they do is built every IDOL has trained for more than 5 6 years to become what we get but that does not guarantee them world wide success, BTS I did not know existed. I had no clue what K POP was I am into rock music and I mean loud and LOUDER Rammstein, AC/DC Disturbed. My daughter was listening to a track of BLACKPINK Boombayah and we danced around the kitchen during lockdown like escaped lunatics, I investigated more that is how I found BTS, but I prefer my girls BP but there is a lot of artists in South Korea and they are phenomenal. K POP covers a huge genre.
