This song genuinely made me cry when I first heard it. It truly captured the futility of our existence. No matter HOW hard we fight, we will always fall short of the mark. Whether its the ideal life God wants us to be as righteous people, or the demands of society/parents/ourselves… we are flawed and will fail. It’s easy to think that after vowing we never repeat a mistake (big or small) but in our nature as humans we’ll inevitably do it again. But perhaps the moment that hits the hardest? Whether its a dedicated partner (lover, family, or friend) or God Himself… it’s being accepted and forgiven that blows me away. I’m not the example ANY god would present. I’m not a good person by nature. But knowing someone like my gf or a benevolent god will always forgive me is what gives me hope.
