Yo I feel like the slowest moomoo ever. Your pointing out that they were representing theirselves within their location…. you’re actually spot on. So, this song/album was the start of their 4-season project. Yellow Flower (Hwasa; “Maria” singer, I won’t detail how but “hwa” has a connection to ‘flower’) Red Moon (Moonbyul, the rapper with red/orange hair) Blue:S (Solar, long white/blonde hair; real name YongSun [sun]) White Wind (Whee-in, short blonde hair; “whee” is the Korean onomatopoeia for ‘wind’). I never really thought about how Solar was often kneeling during the sunset scenes, and then extending out and upward during the daytime scenes. Damn. Good eye.🧐 Kudos!

Answers to your questions and comments: That's an electric guitar playing the main riff. The MV was shot in New Zealand, as others have mentioned. Yes, that's the Hwasa who did Maria, but she's not the main vocalist in Mamamoo. Some folks say the main singer is the eldest member and leader, Solar, who's got long blond hair in the MV, but most moomoos (Mamamoo fans) consider them equals. Each member has a successful solo career on the side, as evidenced by Mamamoo becoming the first group to have all members chart on Billboard as solo artists while the group is still active as a unit. Iconic gg 2NE1 also did it after they disbanded. At the end of the MV you heard part of Hwasa's solo song Be Calm. It was included as a way of introducing one of the elements of Mamamoo's year long four album series 4 Season 4 Color. Each album's title track explored a stage of love represented by a season and a color and each album included a self-composed solo song by one of the members. Starry Night and Be Calm were on the first 4S4C album Yellow Flower. The 4 Season 4 Color project is the most complex and ambitious project ever attempted by a kpop girl group. You don't have to choose between Mamamoo and Blackpink. They're both four member girl groups from Korea but they're very different in every other way - their music, the type of company they're with, and their career paths and goals. Blackpink has a girl crush sound and style and they're under YG, one of the largest entertainment companies in Korea. They're obviously one of the best at what they do. YG has promoted them internationally and they've become one of if not the most popular kpop girl group globally. Mamamoo was the first group to debut under a new label called RBW in 2014 (2 years before BP) and against the odds they've become one of the most respected kpop groups because of their world class vocals, creativity, versatility, bff team chemistry, and riveting live performances. MMM is generally considered to be the premiere female vocal group in kpop. They don't stick to any particular group concept or genre of music but they stamp everything they sing with their own unique style, whether they're doing jazz, r&b, hip hop, latin pop, bossa nova, ballads, rock, reggaeton or covering a classic Korean or western song. Unlike most girl groups Mamamoo is heavily involved in all creative aspects of their career from songwriting and choreography to styling and MV concepts. I'd recommend two sampler videos with spectacular live vocals as a way of getting properly introduced to Mamamoo: Dingo Killing Voice: Killing Voice is a series the Dingo channel launched a couple years ago and MMM was the first group they invited. The vid is a 15 minute live studio performance of a medley of songs from throughout their career including Starry Night. Immortal Songs Medley: Filmed at a Mamamoo concert in 2017. The 11 minute medley includes snippets of some of the covers they performed on the singing competition tv show Immortal Songs 2 from 2015-17. the guy in the middle is really perceptive. He is right saying the the girls were embodying the various elements/environment! Because in this album, they have a song with their names in it, called Star Wind Flower Sun, where Moonbyul is star (the girl on the jeep, Byul is star in korean), Wheein is wind (the short blonde hair female Jimin, where wheein is the onomatopoeia of wind), Hwasa is flower (yes she sang Maria, Hwasa means shining bright in korean, and hwa also meant flower in chinese), and Solar is sun (her name is YongSun, as well as Solar meant sun). When you see their shots in the MV, you can see them literally in their environment, where Moonbyul usually seen in the dusk/night with the stars, Wheein with nothing in her shot but wind in her hair, Hwasa in a desaturated field where she is the flower, and Solar always have the sun behind here.
