Best. Mid-Century. Country. Vocalist. Ever! Her tone & phrasing bring tears to my eyes every time. This performance is remarkable when you consider that she had been in a serious car accident just three days beforehand. Note the band high on her forehead, which was to cover the stitches from where her head cracked the dashboard.

Ty for the info about the car wreck. I wondered about the headband.

According to Ken Burns, in his documentary Country Music, this is the number 1 song played on a jukebox of all-time. Patsy and Willie....a legendary combination.

My dad loved Patsy Cline. Wow, this brought me to tears. He passed when I was 7, such a long time ago.

As another commenter noted, it was written by Willie Nelson, he sold the publishing rights for $200 so he could buy groceries for his family. So I believe he never got any royalties

This song makes me sad b/c of the abuse she endured which this song came from. DV.
