Wow! this song was the biggest thing for me in '83. To each their own and your honesty is appreciated.

Fun fact: the lead singer teamed up with Tangerine Dream to do a song on the 80's movie "Legend" soundtrack. That song was pretty good too. Love ya Alex!

Thanks for posting some Yes. This was more of a commercial album for Yes. I would recommend some of their earlier stuff.

It's good to hear an honest reaction. Their song "Roundabout" is really good - it has a progressive Rock sound.

The gtr solo was fire.

This version is missing the final chorus. The sound is the skill of the guitar solo - it’s run through a gizmo that plays an additional note a fifth away from the original note. My infant level of music theory does not know how to jump fifths, but this exceedingly skilled guitar player does. …and you are so right about the lyricist having bars. His are so good you could end up getting your mind blown - several times. He’s most definitely an original. Enjoy.

@Vern Sherris I’m presuming you’re right - best explanation I can think of.

You can't judge Yes by this track. To do that would be a travesty. If you want fire, react to 'Roundabout' from 1971. It's a whole different funk vibe with a killer bass line and transitions that will blow you away.

This song isn't one of their best. In the 80's they re-invented themselves and this happened to become a hit. You have to listen to their masterpieces from the early 70's. "Close to the Edge", "Awaken", Roundabout", "The Gates of Delirium" to name a few. Best progressive rock band in my opinion. Give them another chance with "Close to the Edge". I subscribe to anyone who reacts to YES since it's my favorite group so I hope you do some more.
