Kratos's pale skin color isn't his natural skin color he used to be a tanner mediterranean skin color as he was from sparta. But the reason his skin is that color is that when he killed his wife and daughter he was cursed and branded with the ashes of his dead family onto his skin as punishment for his inhumane act.

So interesting fact about Atreus, he was not actually given a name until late recordings for the characters. So Chris Judge (Kratos voice actor) simply called him Boy, and it fit his character so well they kept it in.

You know, I never really put too much thought to how differently father/son and mother/daughter duos would experience this game and the story. I was still a kid when the original trilogy gradually came out, and I played the absolute hell out of all three when my dad wasn't looking which was awesome. But this new series has given me a lot of perspective on those specific years, and as a man with a now iffy relationship with his father, it hit me in all the right places. You're going to adore this series, regardless of how brutal the originals could be. Also, I have no idea if you're into that type of game, but there is another game called Dantes Inferno which is also an awesome story whose gameplay is inspired by the original god of war games. (be warned though, it's very different from the books)

Fun Fact: in the God of War 2018 Novelization its stated that Baldur had superior strength to Kratos something they were see through a lot throughout their battle. Baldur even during one of the cutscenes acknowledges Kratos rustiness calling him “slow and old” at 54:13 that Baldur was outpacing him at various place during the fight.

50:26 Some of Baldur’s dialogue upon meeting Kratos has been slightly with an example being “Yet you hide out like a frightened rabbit in these woods… you pathetic coward..” however with the original dialogue being “and yet you hide out here in the woods-like a coward.” This also goes with Kratos when he first encounter as his warnings were changed for example at 50:35 “you do not want this fight. whoever you are.” and at 50:50 leave my home now. The battle between Kratos and Baldur occurred in a similar manner to that from the GOW 2018 game. however some parts of the fight were changed while more of their dialogue were changed. extended. switched. or omitted up until Kratos snaps Baldur’s neck at 1:03:40.

It’s been stated that Kratos during the start of God of War 2018 was rusty and was rusty in fact that he had declined in Muscle Mass and is physically weaker then he was in God of War 3. on the PlayStation Blog Site for 2018 it’s stated that Kratos will need to reawaken his dormant power this power being a reference to the power of hope and while yes Kratos still does have a small portion of it left. It’s also been stated in the lore and legends that Kratos hasn’t actually fought a formidable opponent in at least 115 years ago. he does fight random creatures and Chaos beast before the events of GOW 2018 but as I said they weren’t actually formidable or seriously threatening as the opponents he was facing Greece. so this power to kill a god is basically dormant inside of Kratos and him being rusty is reiterated many times throughout the first encounter with Baldur. with the senior staff combat designer for God of War 2018 Denny Yeh considered to be Kratos to also be rusty during his first fight with Baldur and made changes to where originally Baldur was supposed to throw a mountain at Kratos at 57:38 but changed it to show Kratos getting gassed out from seemingly a few minutes of fighting Baldur and struggling to drop a monolith on top of Baldur as well at 56:25.

This is basically a reboot of the series. Which has a time jump, but us, the audience doesn't know how long. Series started on Playstation 2, with God of War 1-2, God of War 3 on Playstation 3, and there were 2 handheld PSP games. A bit of lore, Kratos was a Spartan general about to die, called on Ares (Greek God of War) to help him, and Ares destroyed the enemy army and saved Kratos. But at a price., Kratos was to be the new hand of Destruction for Ares. Ares wraps blades around Kratos's arms with chains, called the Blades of Chaos. On one mission Ares sends him to destroy a village. An oracle outside a temple in the village begs him to not destroy the temple. But Kratos, arrogant and rageful only becomes more emboldened to do so, eliminating everyone inside & destroying the temple by fire. After admiring his work, Kratos looks down to notice that two of the people he destroyed in the temple were his wife and daughter, who he hadn't known were there. The oracle curses Kratos at that moment bonding the ashes of his wife and daughter to him, giving his skin a chalky white look. And from that day, people start calling him The Ghost of Sparda. Feeling betrayed, he swears vengeance against Ares. By the end of the 1st game, with some help from Athena, he kills Ares, and replaces him on Mount Olympus as the new God of War. Thus the title. Over the next 2 games you find out that Kratos is a demigod, that he is the Son of Zeus and a Mortal mother. Zeus tries to destroy Kratos which results in Kratos deciding to destroy Zeus and any Greek God that gets in his way. Kratos releases the Titans, the forebears to the God's (including Zeus's parents, Kronos & Gaia ) to help destroy Zeus. But that proves more trouble than it's worth, and Kratos by the end, destroys the Titans and the entire Greek Pantheon of Gods, and he himself is mortally wounded, but we don't see his body as the game ends. And this, after the Tim jump, picks up after all that. There are a bunch of other plot things in the 1st 3 games dealing with Pandora of Pandora's box, and more, but it's not relative to know for this game or it's sequel.

Remember to diversify your attack patterns as well with R1. Slightly less damage, but more hits as well. R2 is slower and can be countered by enemies before it hits them. R1 is also more circular to sometimes hit more enemies around you.

"Hack silver" was, indeed, a form of currency - primarily in medieval times but evidence goes all the way back to Roman times. All it is are pieces of silver items (jewelry was most common but it could be anything really) that was valued by weight. Basically, it just means that you took an item made of silver (a cup, fork, bracelet, etc.) and "hacked" a chunk off of it. You then traded that hunk for other items. The Norse even developed a torc design (a sort of stiff, open-ended necklace) that featured regular indentations to make it easier to break off pre-measured chunks for use in trade.

I just found this video and I have to say that you both are very entertaining to watch you play this game for the first time. And I've watched your reaction to the whole story of the original God of wars. The only thing I could say is that learn to sprint learn to dodge and dont be scared to be aggressive it's a lot more rewarding. Example of this try throwing your axe at enemies sprinting at him beating him with your hands and calling it back it's very satisfying. Other than that you're doing great and don't worry about the comments being mad that you don't know this or fat You've opened up the huge thing by starting this game. You're not going to know everything but have fun with this one it's amazing

When you see an enemy just go ahead and strike them to stun them you could get those R3 button. You can also learn how to parry an attack by using your shield at the moment the enemy try to attack you (timing is important). Try to use the light attack more because it's faster then the heavy attack (it'll help you to give more damage to the enemy). Your journey is still long and later you're going to meet more new character just like a dwarf blacksmith who will sell you items like armor for Kratos and Atreus or weapon. So make sure to collect more hacksilver and the required item. You can also upgrade your weapon and armor later so keep your eye on the stats of each item. Later you will open a bigger map (with many different island) in this game and make sure to check every one of them to get more items and to increase your level by killing more enemies or getting a side quest with a huge reward. There will be more enemies with many different kinds and they will be stronger.

Fun fact! The cinematics are all done with the same camera you use to control your character's point of view. That's why it all seems to seamless. Rather than it cutting away to a pre-loaded scene, then cutting back.

I liked that you tried to look for everything and read all the journeys as you can! That’s a great way to get immersed in the game. I have a few pieces of advice for you to make the gameplay and fights more engaging: 1. Use Light and Heavy Attack Combos: Make better use of your light (R1) and heavy (R2) attacks. For example, with the firepole, you can press R2 twice for heavy strikes and then follow up with R1 twice for a smoother and stronger combo. Mixing attacks like this makes fights more fluid and effective. 2. Check the Skills Tab: Open the skills menu to see what abilities you can unlock using XP. Each new skill will add unique moves to your arsenal and make fights more fun. Experiment with these skills during combat to master them and maximize their potential. 3. Dodge Enemy Attacks: You can dodge enemy attacks by pressing X and moving in the direction you want to dodge. Timing is essential-try dodging just before the enemy’s attack lands to avoid damage and create an opening for counterattacks. 4. Adjust Difficulty for Balanced Gameplay: I strongly recommend setting the game difficulty to Normal for a balanced experience. It will make fights more fun and challenging without being too frustrating, allowing you to enjoy both the combat and the story. 5. Throw Your Axe Strategically: Use R2 to throw your Leviathan Axe and freeze normal-sized enemies. This will keep them in place, giving you the chance to move in and deal heavy stun damage with your fists. Use R1 for quicker axe throws. Aim for an enemy’s head to stagger them and make them turn their back to you, giving you an opportunity to land punches, build stun damage quickly, and finish them with a finisher move. Okay i seen others have mentioned targeting and dodging and rollin, im comenting at 1:02:36 into your video and i notice you favor heavy attacks and throws alot, this will work against you in this game, prioritize light combos and mix heavy and throws in, also you have been doing great timing that block in the right time window, when you do that accurately like you been doing tap block fast again To do a parry/knockback, gives you some nice breathing room to recover :)

I know you don’t need to know this, but when you were aiming towards the neck of the giant elk, that’s not where you want to aim. in reality when you hunt any deer or elk or any animal, you wanna aim for their lungs and their heart that’s considered a more humane way of killing an animal. You don’t go for head shots. You don’t go for neck shots. You don’t go for the stomach, lungs and heart only

Don’t worry, you don’t have to point for Atreus to shoot. If you just press square he’ll fire at an enemy. You can aim if you want to, but there’s rarely a reason to do so.

Haven’t watched the full video but Kratos’s red lines are actually because its to honor his brother I think his name was Demios? Delios? Mb its Deimos, Deimos got taken away as a child and Deimos had red marks like that from birth and to honor him Kratos put those red lines on himself. I’m so good at being useless:3

Sister please collect the chest after the battle and look for hacksilver if you missed it and moved further in the story it will be very difficult to defeat the enemies ahead as they are not easy also don't forget to upgrade your gear time to time

Tip: Loot all the enemies you kill. You could miss some good stuff. And be sure to sprinkle light attacks more than heavy attacks. Heavy leaves you vulnerable to incoming hits. Have Fun!

God of War is one of the first two or three video games I played as a child. Kratos didn’t accidentally kill his wife and daughter, the original god of war (Ares) tricked kratos into killing people in villages and ended up killing his family. Kratos was mortal at the time.
