*NOTE* - It came to my attention and upon checking, it was confirmed, that there was an audio delay in the final edit of my original video. I chalk this up to this being my first time ever doing anything like this :) This version has been cleaned up and the audio now matches the video. I cannot replace my original upload without all the views, likes & comments being deleted, so I am uploading this version as the first in my playlist, and will let my original, flawed version disappear over time.

I wouldn't say that nobody talks about Morrowind. The gameplay has aged like milk, to be sure, but it's generally agreed to have the best story of any Elder Scrolls game.

@@leysaplays There's a reason why Morrowind is getting remade by fans with Skyrim's engine ("Skywind"). There used to be a similar project for Oblivion ("Skyblivion"), but it's sadly been abandoned/stopped. But the very fact that quite a lot of people put _that_ much effort into recreating those games should give you an idea of how much people love them 🥰

I have played all of the Elder Scrolls games and of the 5 major titles, Morrowind is by far my favorite story. The graphics need an update, and the game mechanics can be quirky, but the game is so well loved that you can easily find tools like the Morrowind Code Patch and the Morrowind Graphics Extender that have plenty of online guidance to walk you through them. I still regularly go back and replay the game even today because the lore and the world building in that game was just top notch.

I'm a couple months late on this, but welcome to Elder Scrolls! Skyrim is probably the most popular because it's the newest and easiest to get into, but I wouldn't say no one talks about Morrowind or Oblivion lol, those games are celebrated to this day for how great they were. Both of them are being remade entirely in the Skyrim engine as a mod. The Skyblivion mod just received a release date trailer a few days ago. Highly worth checking out sometime. But even the original games are fantastic still. Morrowind is generally regarded as having the best storyline of the series, whereas Oblivion is well known for having extremely good questlines overall. Skyrim is just more user-friendly, and holds the best combat, which is a very great way to take your first step into ES. I hope you enjoy it, and hopefully it opens the door to other ES games for you someday.

Hi Ariastyr! Thanks for watching! This isn't my first foray into Elder Scrolls actually 🙂 I played Daggerfall when it released but didn't get very far in it. As a teenager I found it to be fairly difficult and pretty buggy and moved on to other games. About all I remembered about this world are a few country names, and that Khajit existed 😅 I'm a cat person so no surprise that detail stuck! I do own Oblivion and Morrowind, and what you say of them mirror what others have said as well; makes me very curious to try eventually!

Another thing about them is that they've become more human than they were in Morrowind, as well. In Morrowind, Argonians (don't know abou Khajit since I didn't play them much) couldn't wear full helms because of their head shape, and both couldn't wear boots if I remember correctly, due to them having uniquely shaped legs and feet. Since then, their bodies have become more human in shape, despite their animal-like faces and tails.

Making my standard comment about the Stormcloak soldier that rushed to his own execution. The priestess invoked the EIGHT divines, denying the divinity of Talos, which was one of the conditions of the Thalmor on the Empire to cease hostilities. This was a major cause of the Nords of Skyrim taking up arms against the Empire. So when the priestess excluded Talos by not invoking the NINE divines the soldier stepped forward saying "For the love of Talos, shut up and let's get this over with!" I'm such a looter that I don't like leaving anything in Helgen Keep so after I loot every room, up to the bridge, I run back to the start on the Empire side and store it all in the chest closest to the door. After I make my way to Riverwood and start selling off I fast travel back to Helgen to get it, fast travel back and temporarily store it in one of the barrels in town. It usually takes me two trips because I get everything worth more than 3 gold. (4 base value gets 1 gold from vendors at start of game while 3 gets you nothing.) If you think that's bad then I usually spend half an hour chopping firewood to sell to Hod. At about 55 gold per minute that gets me an extra 1650 gold. Great for early game. All buyers of firewood have unlimited gold. I did an experiment at the Bannered Mare in Whiterun. Hulda, with only 115 gold in her sell screen, paid me 1,000 for 200 firewood. BTW, to carry 1,650 weight in firewood (or all of any item as long as you have more than 5) you drop all of it at once. This bundles it all into 1 piece that you can pick up holding the 'take' button down longer. You can now walk or run at normal speed with the firewood floating in front of you. If you sprint or turn too fast you'll drop it and have to pick it up again. To get through doors, though, you have to drop it and take it back into your inventory.

Wow, this is an awesome post 😃 So much good info! That clarification about the divine and the priestess gives me such a better understanding of that intro to the game. You, sir, take the cake. 😉 That is some true dedication to getting your characters started off comfortably in the world. And you brought up woodcutting! Share more on this mechanic please! I've suspected it exists because of axes laying around, and another viewer stating you can build houses from scratch.

@@leysaplays The easiest axe to get is the one on the table behind the sawmill in Riverwood. There are two chopping blocks nearby, one behind the mill and the other one in front of the ramp up to the saw. Just place your sight on the chopping block and press 'E.' The Stormcloaks are...complex. On the one hand, you've got people like Ralof, who genuinely do want Skyrim and all its people to be free and to restore religious freedom. But at the same time, there's a significant enough portion of the movement who ONLY wants Skyrim to be a place for the Nords and doesn't really give a darn about whether it's a good place for anyone else to live. And the manner in which Ulfric killed the High King was, according to in-universe etiquette, a pretty big no-no. The situation is, to put it mildly, complex. I know people have already pointed out you can increase your carry weight by increasing stamina, but you can also up your carry weight with gear-Thieves' Guild armor and one of the dragon masks if I remember right- and one of the standing stones. Also, every time you pick up a new ingredient or plant or something, eat it! It's a pretty easy way to level alchemy IMO. All in all, welcome to the game, and buckle in-it's gonna be an interesting ride!!

Skyrim might be considered less "pure"/more "console game" compared to Daggerfall, which was very hard core. Morrowind has a lot of those older mechanics, more like Daggerfall, and Oblivion as well. Skyrim was an improvement to the roleplaying game core, though some would call it "simplification". Morrowind is far less forgiving of an experience, but also deeper in many ways. Morrowind is so alien compared to Skyrim, with the giant mushrooms and the silt striders. Also, if you want to be a Caster (or a thief-y hybrid, like Nightblade or your own custom hybrid), then it's extra OP in Morrowind and even Oblivion. The old spellmaker allows you to do some insane things. Of course, the Survival Mode in Skyrim does make it a little more old school feeling... but it also is more punishing.

I would argue that this game was designed for a controller and the K&M optimization was not well designed. It's not as bad as RDR2, but it took quite a while to get comfortable with it. Meanwhile, WoW was specifically designed for K&M and 2 years after quitting I know I can log in and rock out without a thought or a hitch. Unfortunately, all video games are full of bugs in one way or another. For Skyrim, especially on PC, there are various mods that can help fix various bugs. Some bugs in Skyrim are negligible, even if they're annoying.

This is true, I remember having to mail requests for patch 3.5" floppies back in the day. It just seems really odd to me that the Anniversary Edition came out a year ago and all the bugs weren't fixed for that release. Why make your customers do the work?
@ShadowSoul92

@@leysaplays Sometimes, trying to fix bugs creates more problems than solutions. Some bugs are scripted in the game, and (from what I've read), the person who created the unofficial patch) modified several parts of the game to make his patch work. At some point, when the Anniversary Edition came out, pretty much most of the mods (except the graphical ones as far as I recall), had huge problems. The Anniversary Edition was all about giving the creation club mods, (that nobody was actually shitting themselves), to everyone. Up until AE came out, I had a handful of creation club mods, and ended up not using them at all... now somehow I have them all, and most of them aren't bad.

@@ShadowSoul92 that is a good point about fixing things causing more problems. Just goes back to the whole "code it right first" ethos that never seemed to stick with any developer. It's gotten progressively worse to now you literally pay a company for "early access" ie, testing. How frickin' genius was that of them? To convince players to pay developers money for them to do the work and find their bugs? So lame.

@@leysaplays The bethesda creation club for both fallout and skyrim was a flop. If maybe for Skyrim the creation club mods don't "break" the main quest, in fallout 4 some of the creation club mods break the main quest, crashing the whole game. In vanilla fallout 4, in the dlc of far harbor the main quest of the dlc breaks and crashes the game... not to mention the flop of Bethesda, with fallout 76. The creation club, was created so that talented modders could create mods for Bethesda, (I believe they were paid to make those mods), so that the mods were "checked and tested" so they wouldn't break the game... some mods from the fallout 4 creation club have been breaking the game for years and still no one has solved the problem except some nexus modders who have created a "patch" to delay the start of the creation club mods.

@@leysaplays Not even the story/stories but the overall Rpg experience in the prior games and the difficulty of the past games is why i think they're better. Skyrim is very open in what you can do, which is fine, but makes replayability absent. For example Skyrim has unlimited leveling after the first few patches when the game launched, it use to be 81 was max level and you were very limited on your build, now its just do whatevers helpful forst because you will get all the perks in the game. In the other games leveling had a cap, you couldnt get all attributes/perks made having to make your build actually unique than someone elses. The fact that in skyrim you can just pick up whatever weapon or magic and you're automatically good with it is a bit of a downgrade, in previous games you had to use a weapon to be better at the weapon and not just have it be a "oh you leveled your sword to 10, automatically get 20% increased damage". in morrowind it was more so if you didnt spec into swords.. your character is absolutely trash at swords unless you really try an level that skill up, couldnt just swap from bow to sword to mace to magic all the time, it was a jack of all trades master of none, ehile skyrim is master literally everything just cuz.. Which again is fine, but ruins the overall experience especially with multiple playthroughs. The other games had some other smaller and even some major RP mechanics that set them apart from skyrim, as well as some other interesting stuff Skyrim took out. Skryims still a great game, ive put atleast 12k hours into it 😅, but its a bit lackluster when it comes to the RP side of things. As for the stories, eh its mixed skyrim has some quests that are better than morrowind/oblivion but so do those, and those games have some absolute trash quests tbh, while skyrim doesnt have too many objectively bad quests as the others. And Skyrim Factions are interesting in the story and some even better than 3&4 its just how skyrim does their factions that bother some people. Not going to spoil them, as i have no idea where you're currently at. But just wanted to give a different perspective as maybe some other comments. Skyrim still a 10/10 tho

@@leysaplays Based off recent interviews with Todd Howard he mentions how he admits/acknowledges Skyrim and Fallout 4 lacked depth in many aspects i actually think TeS6 might go back to having more rpg elements again. Also if we're looking at Starfield he has made it clear that Starfield has alot of rpg elements/most theyve ever done(apparently), so if thats the case then maybe that will transfer into TeS6. Its not going to happen as Todd Howard has stated multiple times that the playable races in skyrim are more cosmetic than anything, but i would really love if in TeS6 each race had their own start/prologue, something like Dragon Age Origins, or each race could have their own special race specific perk tree, or just something as simple as each race having atleast 1 unique sidequest only available to them. It would add so much for replayability for different races other than just for looks or a power that doesnt effect gameplay too much. Theres so much they can do to make TeS6 truly be worthy of the 15plus year wait. I am very excited to see and very worried at the same time 😅

@Puppet Master I understand that feeling! I had that over Everquest Next and look what happened 😄 I agree, each race should have a little somethin-somethin to make it feel more unique and not just a skin. Hi Jeremy! I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience watching my video, but I am thankful that you took the time to leave constructive feedback. I, too, am disappointed that the sound isn't perfect. I am playing on PC - so keyboard and mouse - and I'm only able to use what equipment I have available to me at this time. My mic is omnidirectional, so that's a big hurdle in avoiding keystrokes being picked up. Before I recorded the first episode I spent quite some time doing test recordings and fiddling with settings in Windows, OBS, the mic, my headphones, my speakers...everything I could find and think of. Nothing would prevent my keystrokes being picked up. Even last week while editing I spent some more time playing with noise gate settings, so it's definitely on my mind as an issue I want to resolve. I was so desperate trying to find perfect settings that I wasn't actually playing the game, and the entire point of me creating this channel was for it to be a goad to get me gaming again. So I decided to just let it be noisy and get to playing. If at some point this channel became profitable or could cover the costs of a unidirectional mic or a quieter keyboard, etc. then I would definitely make those improvements. As it is, all my funds could cover was the editing software to even create these videos to post. Thanks again for your input!

@@leysaplays Have you tried the expander in OBS to reduce the clicking noise? Might be worth trying... Gate to catch the noise floor, expander for the clicks and a second gate. It's hard to tell for me since my hearing is still off from being sick, and I wasn't talking as much or as clearly, again from being sick. But maybe the lack of most keyboard sounds is better?

@@leysaplays It does seem to cut your voice, just relax the settings on the expander a bit. Something like a 4:1 ratio and lower threshold.
