Alan wrote this as a loving tribute to his wife and family. The photos are of his kids and he dances with his wife. He’s a phenomenal songwriter and performer!

I love this song... it's not a perfect rosy picture of a perfect marriage, instead it's honest and shows the beauty of a couple that doesn't give up and stays together even when things are far from prefect.

About 8-9 years ago, at my oldest daughter's wedding, I asked the dj to play this. As it came on, I asked my wife to dance. By the end of the song, she had tears in her eyes. Our daughter, dancing with her husband next to us, was crying also. Back to now, this Dec we will celebrate our 30th anniversary and renew our vows. Guaranteed, this song will be played. I do Remember When 30 seemed so old. I'm 59 now.

Sometimes people really do mean it when they say "forever". ❤ My parents started dating when they were 15 & 16. They got married 3 years later. Daddy died at age 89, just a few months short of their 70th wedding anniversary ...and Momma followed him a year later when she was 89 (in February this year). They still acted like youngsters in love up until the end. 💕

I "remember when" this song came out because I turned 30 a few months later. Had a little one and everything so it really hit me hard. Now, I'm nearly 50 and even though I didn't have a typical, let alone fairy tale life, this song still brings a tear to my eye because it's one of those perfectly relatable songs to so many people. Life in a nutshell. Sidenote: Released 2003, which would be 20 years ago. (I'm a math wiz)
