Without spoiling too much, the writer of the show was big into D&D, and thus is FANTASTIC at world creating. He also uses "gap moe" in many of his characters. It's about portraying your character's personality as opposite to what their appearance is. Some characters will look "cute" while being some of the most downright vile and evil characters you've ever seen. And some of the most evil looking characters having wholesome and good personalities. It's not all of them, but you can see this influence on many of them.

Four nations one run by incompetent king, other by competent king, other human focused country, and the council state which isn't shown yet. Politics is indeed very simple with all main things happening off screen. The shows interesting point is just the hopelessness of New world people where they keep underestimating ainz(because he's literally god level and they can't comprehend that)

Then by the time season 3 rolls around and we’re watching Enri socialize with goblins, it’s been 15 episodes and the threat from season 1 has lost all its steam. The creators are clearly working with a good story but have no idea how to make a good show.

My favorite instance of gap moe is the clumsy kuudere, most of the time kuuderes are played as the straight man but then you see one trip over nothing and faceplant while still holding their icy expression.

Nah, it’s honestly mid. From what I’ve heard, the novel is very good, but it’s clear that the people who made the anime don’t know how to make an entertaining show. Ending season 1 with a betrayal, introducing something that could threaten Ainz, then spending half a season on some lizard romance ruining any tension or excitement we had. Then we jump to some random kingdom’s politics out of nowhere? Then season 2 ends and we still haven’t gotten ANY updates on the potential threat.

Overlord even subverted the classic hero isekai so hard all the descendants have had to double subvert to morally good-grey non-humans because Maruyama crushed the true evil isekai so thoroughly.

Using the word "Good" to describe the Ainz Ooal Gown and his merry nation is a very strong word . I'd use protagonists if generous, main characters at worst, cause good and evil are very simplistic terms to describe the political and moral motivations of characters in Overlord. They are not saints, the human characters, in fact a good one-third to two-thirds of the human characters are evil or morally bankrupt , the human princess especially, it's just they have misfortune of going against a man who was a human from another world who's powers he gained in a video game become real as does his lich body , and all the overpowered NPC subordinates followed him to this new world he intends to conquer 😅.... Fair warning, this anime can be a little bit darker than some are used to

“Overlord” is the story of Sousou no Albedo, an immortal succubus who realizes too late that she needs to live and love in the moment as she lost her chance to get together with the man of her life who was part of her raiding party… so she uses a spell to revive her Victorian era lover, but the spell can only revive him as an Undead Skeleton. As she processes her feelings through various flashbacks, she gathers together a new group, called the “Blond Pack” along with a secondary group, the “Maids in Abyss,” who are on a quest to eat the most delicious things in a dungeon. I've been watching anime for a long time and Overlord easily lands a spot as one of my favorites of all time. Hence why myself and so many other people are watching your reactions to even just the openings and endings... which are just fantastic on their own, but the story is the main draw. The openings are somewhat spoilery but without context, so rewatching them after finishing the season is rewarding as well. As yes, the female character you've seen before is indeed a succubus. Good guys, bad guys... It's more complicated than that, tbh... and that's in a good way. I also feel like by using the beautiful, but still, art from the og artist for the endings they were able to devote more time and money to make the animations for the openings look so good.

it started from a game, MC was in game as skeleton mage and hes guild had NPC's to what they created, different monsters and demons, but he fell a sleep and woke up and discovered that he and hes guild base has been transported in to alternate universe/world with humans and many other races and the guild NPC'S have become real monster and demons/sentient beings, no longer data/program, that shot version of how to sum up the beginning
