YG kind of made a point to make Batter Up and Sheesh the “traditional YG style” to show that they are the future of YG. However, you should absolutely check out Dream (a pre-debut song that was released after the member announcement following their survival show) and Stuck in the Middle if you want to see them show off more. They trained for an average of around 4/4.5 years, and at the time of their survival show they were around 13-20 years old. During their survival show, senior YG artists (including Jennie and Lisa) helped mentor and evaluate them, and they all went on record saying how scarily talented Baemon is, and that they wont let them/YG down, and that each of them truly have the YG DNA. I also recommend checking out a live performance or two (such as their final performances on Inkigayo and MCountdown) because not only do they have incredible stage presence, they are consistently singing live during this period of controversy about idols not being able to sing (something YG definitely took advantage of). Although Sheesh didn’t chart high for a while, over the course of their promotions, they continued to impress audiences and listeners and Sheesh ended up rising to the top 10 of multiple charts, and its sitting firmly despite new popular releases. Batter Up is the debut of 6 of the girls when they actually signed idol contracts with YG and got paid to perform. Ahyeon was sick and not available for Batter Up and Stuck in the middle. That's why Sheesh is the official debut with all 7 members.

BATTER UP is the 6 member group debut and SHEESH is the 7 member group debut. Ahyeon was not in BATTER UP, STUCK IN THE MIDDLE, or CHRISTMAS WITHOUT YOU because she was out because of medical reasons. The whole thing with BATTER UP is mostly tribute like to their seniors from the sets to the song structure. "Batter up" in baseball terms means the next up to the plate and in SHEESH the line in the rap 홈런은 쳤고 내 다음은 위v(I hit a home run, my next move is up) is the follow up to that. The song is catchy but when it released it was a little underwhelming for me knowing the talent that these girls have. So if you look at it like an homage to their seniors and letting them know that they are ready to stand in the spotlight and take the stage then it makes sense that this would be a debut song. I think that if they were to release it 2 months earlier and if Ahyeon could have been a part of the debut it would have been more successful. My bias in this group is Rami but the group is missing their full potential without Ahyeon. I think that the song would have been a little different if Ahyeon was able to record with the rest of the members. Chiquita is also learning to be a rapper and with Ahyeon's return that makes 4 of them that can rap. Chiquita has been called "Little Lisa" because of her charisma and being the maknae of the group (and also being from Thailand). The one thing that has been different from BABYMOSNTER to the other girl groups as YG has been the fact that all the members have been able to show all of their talents and it seems that YG has been supporting them. It took BLACKPINK two years to come out with just a mini-album while they made sure that BABYMONSTER has one in under 5 months and the plan is to have a full album by September or October. And from the rumors is that BLACKPINK will start activities in 2025 which means that YG will have two active girl groups at one time. And we can only wonder what CL talked to YG about when they met this week. Imagine if they planned a YG Fam concert with all three 2NE1, BLCKPINK, and BABYMONSTER on one stage.

I love Batter Up. It launched Baby Monster with now 251 Million views and has broken the fastest 251 million in kpop debut history ever so you are wrong in your assessment. Pepsi Thailand and Pepsi Vietnam launched nationwide marketing campaigns on National TV and radio using Batter Up as the Pepsi jingle. So commercially Batter Up has performed better than Sheesh.
