BTS is known for their meaningful lyrics, so you will want to pay attention, or find lyrics online. Official MV will have Eng cc, and often you can find concert footage with Eng Subs. All BTS songs are different, in many musical genres, and all are good.They often sing about topics that are healing--self esteem, asking for help with mental health issues, comfort, self acceptance, societal issues and justice.They will sing to their fans, Army-often new folk think those are romance songs. Not all songs are happy. Some are sad or angry. K-pop is an industry, not a musical genre. K-pop companies contract train and compete talented youth, forming groups. Group songs can be in a variety of genres, pop, R&B, ballad, etc.

Welcome to BTS where they do so many incredible things in each video. 55 year old ARMY since 2018. Don’t kill your self trying to absorb everything in one viewing. I always watched them once for the music and visuals and another time for the lyrics, but the lyrics are essential. They are deep and meaningful. Sometimes they are even inspired by classical literature. I recommend you check out Fire, Dope, ON; Kinetic Manifesto, Silver Spoon, War of Hormone and Not Today for starters. Speaking of production, Suga is their main producer and recently produced a song called That, That for PSY, the artist who did Gangnam Style. BTS the Global Super Group the most award Artists in the history of Modern Music who are doing their military service right now. They sell out the biggest Stadium on the planet within a hour of tickets going on sale and those Tickets done even get offered to the General Public you have to be a signed up member of the fanbase to even have a chance to get into the online que to have a chance to buy a ticket. We call it the Hunger games. Thank goodness they also live stream some of their concerts worldwide. I've seen via live stream and attended their Wembley Stadium Concert on the second night with 60,000 other fans. You have to hardcore it's not for the faint hearted but the we ain't really Kpop fans we are music fans and older than most kpop fans. BTS are group of 7 solo artist, 7 who are 7 Song writers, 7 Composers, 7 Producers 3 Rappers and 4 Vocalist who can all dance and they are also musicians who some time's play instruments on stage. They smashed the Beatles Record and Micheal Jackson record. They are base in Hip Hop and R & B but use whatever genre of music they enjoy as individuals and as a group and will mix them how they feel fit. Their lyrics are extremely important and are not the sort of subjects you'll hear about within the Kpop Industry.

Lol, you are going to end up like me. I started with k-dramas and have now watched over 140 Asian dramas. I ONLY watch Asian content now. I can't go back to poorly made American content. About a year into my k-drama journey i started making a playlist of OST songs from the dramas. A friend told me it was only a matter of time until I got into k-pop. I told her that would never happen since I have never been into mainstream pop, rap, r&b, hip hop, or anything like that. My background was metal, alternative rock, and indie. That all changed when another k-drama friend told me to check out BTS. Now almost two years later I am just as deep as I am into k-dramas. Somebody save me!!! BTS is the only group I follow and know all the members and watch all the extra content. But I do listen to Taemin, stray kids, and TXT along with some select songs from others. Definitely check out the solo work from BTS as well. They cover all kinds of genres so you can't pigeonhole them into one category. Solo songs (some released as BTS , some as solo releases, and some as mixed tapes or free sound cloud releases). It helps to start with solo work so you recognize all the members when you get into group work. I also recommend the guide the bangtan by Taylor Mari, a fan and also a professional editor. The songs are just some of my favorites. They have many more. Rappers: AGUST-D (Solo name-suga + daegu town where he grew up spelled backwards)/Suga ( BTS name-stands for shooting guard, his favorite basketball position-he is a brand ambassador for the NBA)/ Min Yoongi (real name) He is a song writer and producer and has producing credits for many of the BTS songs and well as writing credits. He and one other friend will be the only credits you will find for most of his solo work and they do all the production. He has also written and produced for other artists including psy. Songs: trilogy: Deschwita, haegum, and Amygdala; snooze- featuring woosung from the indie band The Rose; burn it featuring Max; people, moonlight, Agust-D, give it to me, the last, nevermind, shadow, seesaw, dear friend, strange featuring RM, so far away, road to D Day documentary on disney plus, also he hosts a talk show called suschwita where guests come and eat and drink and chat. They bring and share their favorite alcohol. The episodes are all on bangtantv. The episodes with the other members to support their solo releases are especially good but all of them are interesting. RM (Used to stand for rap monster but now stands for real me, real name is Kim Namjoon; he is the leader of BTS and the main rapper. He was the first recruited and the group was formed around him.) Currently serving in the south korean military until June 2025. One of the main songwriters for BTS and his solo work and even other groups. Songs: wildflower featuring an incredible female metal vocalist from south korea but i am blanking on her name; nuts, domodachi featuring british female rapper little simz who is amazing; persona-based on map of the soul psychology by Carl jung-- they have and entire album based on this theme; lost, heaven, come back to me, groin, Ughgood, everything goes featuring nell, change with wale, forever rain, still Life with Anderson paak, and as a bonus, Meagan thee stallion just featured him on her recent song Neva Play. Tiny desk korea live performance. Currently serving in the south korean military until June 2025. Part of his duties is playing saxophone in the military band. The two mini and moni episodes on bangtantv are really good where RM and Jimin have and album exchange listening party and discuss their latest solo albums. Very insightful. J-hope (bts name, real name jung hoseok) He came to the group as a hip hop dancer who then learned to rap from RM and Suga. He will be released from the korean military this month on October 17th. Heavily involved in writing BTS songs and his own work. Songs: More, Arson, neuron, I wonder, hope on the street featuring j cole, Stop, daydream, airplane, lock/unlock, chicken noodke soup featuring becky g, lalapaloosa headliner live performance, MMA 2020 live performance, hope on the street vol. 1 street dance documentary on Amazon , the jack in the box documentary on disney plus. Now to the vocal line. Jungkook, main vocalist, youngest in the group. Currently in the south korean military until June 2025. Released his first solo album last year named Golden. Often goes by JK or Kookie. He became a trainee for BTS at age 13 and is naturally talented at everything so he also became an excellent dancer. Jimin. Contemporary and hip hop dancer, learned to sing with BTS. Counter tenor, so he has a very high voice. Serving in the military until June 2025. He is in the same unit as JK. He has released two short solo EPs last year and they performed exceptionally well. Many refer to him as the king of kpop. He has a soulful baritone voice and an affinity for jazz music. He is also an excellent dancer and he learned as a trainee for BTS. He is serving in the korean special forces unit of the military until June 2025. He released his first solo EP last year. Songs: singularity music video and live performance, stigma live performance, slow dancing, rainy days, fri(end)s, love me again, sweet night, winter bear, Christmas tree, tiny desk korea live performance. Jin (real name is Kim seokjin): He is the oldest and completed his military service this June. The day after release he held a fan meeting where he hugged 1000 fans or something like that and performed several songs for them. He has been busy ever since shooting his own variety show run jin, appearing on other variety shows, carrying the torch in the Paris Olympics, becoming a gucci brand ambassador, and recording his first solo album which should drop in the next few months. For laughs you should also check out his viral fishing song he released for his birthday as a joke called super tuna. After looking at enough breathalyzers started recommending Kopp and so it took >sign< BTS 6 years ago and now 24/7... 🤭If you want Movies/Series to be entertaining and good to watch - try European production: English, German, French... etc. There is really high quality on offer. But I agree K-dramas is really refreshingly different from American. However, with the advent of "Korea in the world of popularity", their style may change👀😥...

Before discovering k-dtamas I heavily watched shows on Accorn and Britbox to get my british, Australian, and new Zealand show fix. I have also been a huge fan or foreign film from everywhere, Sweden. France, Italy, Czech, Germany, etc. It is a bit more difficult to find those shows for me so I am greatful for the steady flow of k-dramas and dedicated streaming channels.

BTS is 7 very different, talent artists, over 11yrs in music industry (2 of them made music even before BTS). They have 400+ (500+?) songs, solos, units, collabs, (allso japanese, english), singles, solo albums, OSTs (original soudtrack to movie/serie)... BTS has variety shows, dance practice, award shows, behind making MVs, docu series (Disney+, Prime video)... they have been involved their music (and careers) from begining (what was/still is quite rare in k-pop). This song/music video was my first exposure to any Korean artist ever, about seven years ago I'm American, 55, wife & mom, and don't understand a lick of Korean. I was an alternative & alt-rock snob, who disdained country, pop, and hip-hop This song & MV blew my mind... I'd not heard nor seen anything like it in western music acts I stayed up until 3am devouring anything I could find about BTS (and...there's A LOT; it was pretty overwhelming since I was so far out of the loop since their debut) I quickly learned that they are 100% unique if you consider them "kpop"...I listened to a BUNCH of other Korean groups under the 'kpop' umbrella to discover what else I was missing in Korean music - but turns out I was only missing BTS because everyone else is...not great Everyone else is the same: catchy but forgettable tunes with banal & meaningless lyrics, combined with stroke-inducing MV edits BTS is unique because they formed around two legit rappers/songwriters/producers (members RM & Suga) whereas other Korean groups are formed exactly like One Direction

Thank you for paying attention to the lyrics. It's a big part of their discography as they write their own song. BTS currently not active as a group due to military service. They will reunite after June2025. However they still continue to post solo contents (pre recorded of coz😅). Their most recent release are all solo stuffs (all of them are amazing soloist btw). You can check out their latest solo release; RM - lost. He was also featured in Megan Thee Stallion's latest single, neva play. Jin - the astronaut, co written by Coldplay. Jin is the only member that already been discharged from the military. Expected to release solo album soon. Suga@AgustD - haegeum J- hope - neuron. Even you haven't heard kpop music they do japanese music to original and japanese version of theirs own songs. Plus you might forgotten they did anime songs. I can see your really enjoying yourself and that you are interested in learning more!! Yes the lyrics are important!! If you would rather do a Lyric Video first So you can Just watch the Video Second and take everything in, or Some watch it once with out the Lyrics to get a taste for the Video and then a second run through for the lyrics!! If you want to start your journey to BTS, I would recommend that after this you should definetly react to BTS guide by Taylor (I dont know any recent one but this one give good info) then react to "Rise of Bangtan" series on youtube by fellow Army that is kind of documentary on journey of BTS and also gives good insights on how Kpop ususally works. Then react to their songs. Most of the time people who don't know BTS thinks they just sing and dance and got famous but that's not true. If you want to deep dive in this I would really recommend you watching the "Rise of Bangtan" in the near future.

Great reaction. When I first saw and heard this MV/song, it literally changed my life. I went down the BTS rabbit hole, and my life got better, so much better. I can tell you that there are a truly crazy number of delights that await you. What next? Hoo boy, there are so many. They have a diverse and huge catalog. Black Swan, Fake Love, and ON Kinetic Manifesto, are all fan favorites. If you really want to see dancing, check out an early track dance practice video for DANGER. From ten years ago. Crazy good. An MV from just after that period is NOT TODAY. A truly great hype song. Enjoy the journey!

Hi: this is my usual response to new BTS reactors starting with Mic Drop--apologies if some of you have seen this before. The production quality on Kpop videos is amazing, so there is always something good to look at, and many other groups have banger songs. However, BTS is really known for the depth of their lyrics in their music, much more so that other Korean groups, so be sure to put on the captions and hopefully they will speak to you. Mic Drop is the usual video recommended to BTS newbies who appear to be coming in with a hiphop orientation, and lots of those reactors especially seem to like diss tracks like this one. One of the benefits of diss tracks is that they are very straightforward. But many of BTS' videos reference things that are specifically Korean, or are exploring concepts that they feel reflect their stages of life, and so there are ARMY-made videos that interpret and explain things. For example, one of their most loved songs (Spring Day) refers poetically and obliquely to the Sewol Ferry disaster in which 250 school children were killed. (All that innuendo was because the government was blacklisting artists who discussed it explicitly, though the president was finally impeached just a bit before the video dropped.) But you wouldn't know that without watching one of the several explanation videos that got made to help folks understand what was happening. But even if you don't have all of that background, the lyrics speaking about loss are incredibly moving and you don't need an explanation to be affected by the song. Another thing you might want to explore is that most of their videos have a behind the scenes shooting sketch, so you can see something about how the video was shot, and they also have what's called a "dance practice", which is really an uncut version of the performance choreography as they will do it on stage in a concert. And finally, they have the performance videos themselves, taken from concerts or award shows. If you want to see Mic Drop in performance, the version in the 2022 Busan concert is really lit, and then they follow it up with the only performance of Run BTS they've ever done (it was a new song for that concert). The day after the concert they announced that they'd be enlisting for their mandatory military service. (Jin was discharged in June, and JHope gets out in two days! The rest will be discharged next June, in 2025.) Performance is always preferred because BTS are stage beasts. Lyric videos are often suspect: the translations are often terrible and the videos tend to not get counted back to the guys for royalties or in their streaming credits. We want BTS to get high streaming numbers to be able to move up the charts, because they don't get US radio play and because streaming services discount their streams, saying that the numbers are bot-driven. When RM's song Come Back to Me dropped at midnight on May 10th, I personally saw with my own little eyes that KZbin counted 187,000 likes but only 5,000 views after the first hour. By morning the numbers looked less suspect, but we know that KZbin and Spotify discount their views. Sorry this is so long--some of us tend to get overly excited. Hope you enjoy more BTS.

The lyrics in a BTS song is key to understanding the story they're telling in their songs as well as the visuals in a MV. Their music is not the typical "pop" song you would hear on the radio with the exception of Butter, Dynamite, and Permission to Dance, which are in English and were released specifically to be light hearted, feel good songs during the pandemic. 69 year old ARMY here. The thing about BTS is they don’t have “a sound”. Also, all seven members also have extremely successful solo careers. I’m talking one of them has a song that Diana Ross posted on her webpage under “My Favorites” and he beat Miley Cyrus over a year ago to have the fastest song in history to get 1 Billion streams and another member is challenging that record right now. All seven members are extremely talented. Reading the lyrics was awkward for me in the beginning. Sometimes I watch, stop, rewind to catch the lyrics. By now I have heard all these songs hundreds of times and I’m not tired of it. When they do lives, they always change things up so you I is rarely the exact same. I hope you go down this rabbit hole and not only get to know their music, but their story and personalities (humble, funny and kind). New to the channel! BTS and their fans ARMY are massive, so be prepared to be bombarded with new subscribers and views, lol. XD BTS has 7 members, 3 rappers and 4 singers. They're a Kpop group, but at this point they've gone way beyond Kpop and are in a league of their own! They do many genres, including hip-hop, pop, R&B, and ballads. With BTS lyrics are ALWAYS important, so what you can do since it's hard for you to both watch and read them is watch the MV twice, once with captions off and once with them on, or watch a lyric video then the MV. BTS is so widely loved because they are all genuinely good, kind, humble, and loving individuals. They have a deep love for ARMY and are always doing special things for them. Hope you react to more! I recommend next "'ON' Kinetic Manifesto Film: Come Prima" and "Fake Love". These show you two different sides of BTS and are AMAZING! Also just so you know, in Korea there's a mandatory 18 month military enlistment for all able-bodied men, so the BTS members are all currently serving. Jin, the first one to enlist, came back in June and J-Hope is about to be discharged October 17 (ahhh!), but the others don't come back until June 2025.

There are several versions of "Mic Drop" but only this version (with more English lyrics) has an MV. The original version has more Korean lyrics and there is a Japanese version.

BTS Mic Drop Dance Practice includes 2 dance breaks and the lyrics are mostly Korean. I like it better than the Remix. Keep watching. BTS are the Beatles of the 21st century. i usually watch the video and listen - and pay attention to the lyrics on the second go round. You're right there is a lot to notice! BTS are the best!💜

The lyrics in this one are pretty straightforward but they also have plenty of songs where you actually would have to sit down, read and think about them (which I love). Black Swan or Fake love would be an example in that aspect. They have songs in all kind of genres so a dive in usually gets you rewarded in one way or another. Edit: Blood, Sweat and Tears is an amazing song, with great visuals and a whole story of its own if you want something maybe a lil more complex.

If you decide to further explore other K-pop groups, you will find a lot of the k-drama actors and a few of the actresses are actually members of these bands. For example Cha Eun Woo is a member of the K-Pop group Astro. Rowoon is a former member of the K-Pop group SF9. Lee Junho is a member of the K-Pop group 2PM. There is one artist with who you can experience the best of both worlds, k-pop and k-drama: IU. She has some of the best dramas: "Hotel del Luna" and "My Mister". And her discography of 15 years in the business is outstanding. Some songs: "Bye Summer", "Love Poem" or "Blueming".

There are other groups with great songs, but you won't find another group with the discography (over 400) and range of genres (almost every genre) within the same group. BTS is a world upon themselves. They literally outsell ALL other "kpop" groups combined. Think of "Kpop" as more of the industry than a genre. Assuming all "kpop" is the same would be like calling all music out of America, "Apop" regardless of artists or genre. A lot of reactors will watch fan MV first without subtitles and then go back and watch it again with subs.

The thing about BTS is that ALL of their songs have deep meanings and are about socioeconomic disparities, sociocultural issues and differences and some are heavy on Korean cultural references; their songs are about learning to love yourself, acceptance, compassion and understanding of others!!!! Mic Drop is a diss rap song, but rather than speaking nasty things about their haters, they talk about their success to diss them instead!!!!! So, let me respectfully diss you no talent Korean underground hip-hop rap artists that maligned us when we debuted!!!! 😅😅😂😂 I would most likely go to Doolset Lyrics or Genius for a Korean to English translation FIRST!!!!! That way, you'll have a clearer understanding of what the song is about!!!! I already mentioned Stay Alive by JK of BTS and produced by Suga of BTS because you like anime!!! Their early songs are more hip-hop rap and r&b leaning!!!! We Are Bulletproof pt 2, Boy in Luv, I Need U, N.O., Dope, Jump, Attack of Bangtan, Danger, I Need U, Fire, Not Today, Ddaeng, Baepsae (Silver Spoon) - to name a few!

Love this song and BTS! If you’ve seen the Tower of God anime, the K-pop group Stray Kids did the Op and Ed for both seasons. So if you like those you’ll probably like their music.

K-pop? Which music genre do you usually like? Rap? R&B? Indi? Metal? Boy groups? Girl groups? Ballads? Hip-hop? Theater Music? Disney princess songs? K-pop's got it all, performed to the highest level. I lean more to female soloists, myself, but I don't limit myself to that.
