Jessi slays every time! She’s actually from New Jersey and has been in the industry for 15 years. Her persona as a musician is such a badass, but off camera, she’s the softest and sweetest person that’s goofy but says it like it is. Fun fact: the woman who appeared in her Nunu Nana is Lee Hyori, one of the original badasses in Korea who used to be in a first generation girl group called Fin.K.L but had also made a successful solo career starting in the early 2000s. After Nunu Nana, Lee Hyori was in a variety show called How Do You Play? (otherwise known as Hangout With Yoo in Korea) in which she mentioned she wanted to put together a project girl group with other badass women. The group consisted of Jessi, Hwasa, and the original badass woman of Korea, Uhm Jung-hwa, as members. This group is known as the Refund Sisters and is iconic because not only are they all talented and groundbreaking as solo artists, but their age all spanned four generations; members were in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s respectively. Their breakout song, Don’t Touch Me, went on to achieve Perfect All-Kills. The Refund Sister’s journey is documented in the variety show, which I highly recommend watching since it’s so funny and entertaining.

Jessi "Wet" for a fun collaboration, and then Refund Sisters "Don't Touch Me" to see Four Queens slaying. If you need a good emotional release cry watch the version of Don't Touch Me where they were performing for an empty stadium (due to covid) and the producers surprised the members by piping in a recorded Fan Chant during the performance

Follow-up comment I forgot to add: one of my favorite things Jessi does while singing is adding a bit of squeak to her voice, and this is going to sound ridiculous, but it's always hit my ears like the squeak of metal guitar strings when someone is sliding their hands over them to change notes.

Oh I loved it Fifi! Jessi is also so funny, you should check some edits or funny moments of her, cause she's got that american bad bitch vibe (kinda remind me of cardi b you know), but also she's so talented, kind and honest. On my pov she's really a 'key' to break a lot of toxic patterns in korean society, and specially working with Psy, he gives her the freedom and the tools to be herself, it's good to see it 🤍
