HAHA! FINALLY!!! Oh, the rabbit hole is so deep with this one and how I wish I had a channel when I discovered this band lol. Quick overview, Sacramento based band. Tilian (clean singer) is their 3rd clean vocalist since they started. Original clean singer was the infamous Jonny Craig. He left, Kurt Travis (current singer of Royal Coda) came in, Jonny came back, left again, and Tilian came in and helped take this band to the next level. Main reason I didn't give you much info on them is cause it is impossible to give them a real genre label (you'll see what I mean the more you dive in) As far as lyrics go, I usually tell people it's a Jekyll/Hyde style. Tilian writes a lot of soulful lyrics and Jon Mess (screamer) just writes random shit that goes along with the song that 99.9% of the time make no fucking sense lol. Buckle in, man. It's a hell of a ride but you can't go wrong. "We Own The Night" or "Inspire The Liars" are some good Tilian tracks if you choose that route to begin your journey. also thanks for the shout outs, haha. much love my dude! Quick facts: they've been around since 2005, they've had 3 different singers (same unclean vocalist tho, Jon Mess), the singer here (Tilian) is the one thats been with the band the longest but recently stepped away due to some sexual allegations but it hasnt been confirmed if he is out of the band officially, the bass player - Tim Feerick passed away 4/13/22 about a month before the allegations on Tilian, their long time touring member - Andrew Wells (lead singer od Eidola) became an official member October of 2021. He does sing in some songs and he did take over for Tilian when he got sick during a tour and also for this tour they're on right now (just saw them 2 weeks ago) Check out "Evaporate" - "Nothing Shameful" & "For The Jeers" to hear him with them. sorry so long lol

@@El-ingobernable Hey whoa hey hold on now, all this is good and fine but I don't recommend Evaporate yet. It's an epic song but I personally think it requires more time with the band to fully appreciate, the climax relies heavily on DGD nostalgia and won't mean much if you're not familiar enough with them. But yeah everything else is on point. DGD is the center of a microgenre called Swancore, named after their guitarist Will Swan. So all the bands you will see mentioned like Royal Coda and Eidola play similar sounding stuff to DGD while still being different, but fall under the same microgenre.

@@waxilliamladrian i agree but i dont think a lot of people will go back and listen to every album or if they do they still might not pick up on "Evaporate" lol Theres this guy that reacted to every song (every album) on here and when it came time for Evaporate, whole song went over his head lol There was one part where he goes, "This sounds a little familiar" but that was it.. i was just recommending it cause of Andrew

Fun fact, Tilian was sick when they recorded this song, which gave a lot of grit, also the album Mothership, before this album, really took a toll on his voice for a bit imo.

I would second this with a caveat; it's worth checking out the studio version first. Would be good, I think, to do both back to back on the same video or two separate videos filmed in the same sitting lol but while the live version is great, there are subtle changes that I think make it a little below the studio version. That said, DGD is absolutely killer live.
