About MACROSS there are MANY openings, BUT because its main theme are Mechs and SIngers fighting against Aliens they usually use heavy licensed music thats why you can hardly find clear OP, BUT you still can find them by exact name of video. SO try to find Macross Frontier- Opening 1 Macross Frontier OP2 Macross 7 OP Macross Delta OP. This series have so many reincarnations.

"NANA" involves music, but it's not a "music anime". It's a drama and a pretty good one at that. There was something about it that just kept making me want more every week. The drama is more real world than a lot of other anime. And since this made me think of it I also recommend "Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You" too. It's a great romcom and it's getting a 3rd season this year after 13 years.

Black Stones is the fictional band that one of the main characters is in. Trapnest is another fictional band in the show too. So the name you're looking for who actually performed as Nana in Black Stone, it's Anna Tsuchiya (opening 1 and 3) while Olivia Lufkin performs as Reira in Trapnest (opening 2). There's a whole album worth of songs from the fictional bands combined and I used to listen to that so much called Nana Best. Anna even sang a cover of Anarchy in the UK. Not super sure if I'd recommend the anime, unless you're really into this kind of drama filled josei. It is an enjoyable watch though. Problem is, the manga went on indefinite hiatus which is...still ongoing years later and us fans are still so thirsty. So the anime had to kind of cobble together an ending with what they had. It isn't bad, but there isn't a nice bow of an ending to wrap things up with and you're still left with tonnes of questions that will likely *never* be answered. Although anime fans can sleep more peacefully than manga fans, as manga fans did get a little bit more of the story before the hiatus, and what they were left on was a pretty big, heart-breaking cliff-hanger. At least anime fans don't have that cliff-hanger to stress over.

@@GOTGames Hey Luke, thanks for the reaction. Please check out the Macross Frontier OPs and EDs (especially the EDs like Diamond Crevasse, Northern Cross and Shinkuu no Diamond Crevasse) I have made a playlist of non geo-block macross frontier OPs / EDs (some are substitutes, some are edited/creditless versions of the actual) (kzbin.info/aero/PLNYuvmxOccpPobzijljbtngKNmhhMz8Tg ) After scouring KZbin for Macross Frontier OP/ED non-geoblock substitutes. I am fairly confident that the visuals are the one triggering the restriction. So if the pictures are blurred and perhaps even slightly distort the audio for added measure, I'm fairly confident the vid will get through. Please don't give up on it. also: think the story order was: Macross zero (2002) Original macross (1982) Macross Plus (1994) Macross 7 (1994) Macross Dynamite 7 (1997) Macross Frontier (2008) Macross Delta (2016) Macross: Do you remember Love? NANA used to be the king of Anime / Manga shoujo genre, insanely dramatic, top notch even in today's standards, I really love it. The story follows up two girls both called "Nana", and the story starts with they meeting each other in Tokyo to share an apartment. One girl is a "princess", while the other one got a punk band. All the music played in the show are songs from the 2 bands from the story, it's amazing. Extra: when you searched Madhouse you mentioned "the girl who leapt through time" (toki wo kakeru shoujo). It's an amazing movie and I think it's about time you star getting to know Mamoru Hosoda's works, beautiful films (the director :D)

I wasn't expecting Nana. Thank you. It's a genre that I normally wouldn't watch but I enjoyed it, it's not too fluffy which is the main issue I've had with a lot of slice of life drama shows. But I have that to thank for getting me to watch stuff like BECK as well. Honestly tho, I have a bunch of music from both artists featured in the Nana OP's as a result of watching the anime waaaay back when it first came out. It's had a bit of a resurgence in recent years but yeah.... I don't regret it. The third OP song (Lucy) is my favourite.

Nana is about 2 girls named "Nana" and same age that met in the train to Tokyo while moving there to make their dreams come true, and that decided to share an appratment. Madhouse is a prolific studio. They have made so many amazing shows over the years. They are responsible for at least half of the best shows ever made. Basically if you see madhouse is involved, you have to take an extra look at it because of how consistently good the shows they make are. Some of my favorites that you haven't seen yet that you absolutely need to watch are Death Parade, and A Place Further than the Universe. Both are anime original, complete stories in 12-13 episodes and are absolutely amazing. Also a shout out to Sonny Boy which was very much a hidden gem that didn't get nearly enough love.

There are different Macross series, all in the same continuity. You saw the OG one, and yeah, it's a good series. It's been described as a war story, but not a serious one. But transforming mechs and music are a staple of the franchise, which is why it's endured for 40 years. I guess people might have been talking about some of the other Macross TV series over time; many of them have multiple openings. So if you were inclined, here are those other series: Macross II: Lovers Again Macross 7 Macross Frontier Macross Delta Whether it was old and hand drawn or newer with CG, the animation and music are great.

macross is about 3 things; mechas, music and love macross is originally something that tried to capitalized off of the real robot genre that gundam started back then before being able to stand on its own but the real gimmick wasnt so much the jet fighter turning into robots but that massive spaceship the size of a small city (and actually housing a city within) behind the mecha during some scenes… that thing can transform into a mecha too which is absurd because its size can tower above the clouds the premise of macross is that one day a absolutely massive spaceship came crashing down to earth intact but no one is inside and studying it help accelerate and advance technology to eventually venture into space using this spaceship now its been reformatted and retrofitted for human but hidden from public eyes it was discovered that aliens exist and there was an impending invasion with the reformatting of this spaceship into the macross was suppose to help humanity escape with the fighter jets being disguised combat mechas to fight these aliens because these aliens are the size of buildings (hence the size of the macross) overall, macross is also famous for pioneering what is now called the missile circus animation technique or macross missile massacre the oldest mech anime is technically the first anime made in 1963; astro boy or in japanese tetsuwan atomu (mighty atom/iron-arm atom) since the protagonist is an actual robot

Depending on how you define "mecha", the first giant robot anime was Tetsujin 28-go(localized in the west as Gigantor) which I think it was animated in early 60's but that was a giant robot controlled by a wired remote. The first giant robot that was controlled by a pilot inside of it was Go Nagai's Mazinger Z. However even before that you had things like Tetsuwan Atom(aka Astroboy) and Giant Robo in the 60's If you get a chance, I would love to see you checking out some of the classic 60's and 70's Openings for mecha shows. Edit: Before I forget, Macross is a long-running series much like Gundam with plenty of spin offs and side stories. The oldest mecha anime frenchise should be gundam, this first aired in 1980. Macross should follow with 1982. Both have huge frenchises with lots of different animes sharing some general concept. Macross openings you should have reacted to should contain: → Chōjikū Yōsai Macross (1982) → Macross Plus (1994) → Macross 7 (1994) → Macross Zero (2002) → Macross Frontier (2007) → Macross Delta (2016) The last two are the most known in recent years.

Mecha started in the 60s but got really big in the 70s with the "Super Robot" subgenre where the protagonists would fight against kaiju/giant monsters. Tetsujin 28, Getter Robo, Mazinger Z, Dancouga, and even newer shows like Gaogaigar and Gurren Lagann fit into this subgrenre. Super Robot is more pulp-adventure science fantasy, while Gundam was the first Real Robot show which leaned into more grounded, dramatic science-fiction.

@@Rycel2001 not taking about the genre but the frenchises. At least I don't know any other then those two that are still bringing out new series.

@@svenbrnn Valid enough. Aside from the Brave series (the ones Gaogaigar came from) I think the only Super Robot franchise that is still going is Getter Robo, but that may just be Go Nagai nostalgia bait (same thing with the remakes of Devilman and Cutey Honey). The cultural impact of Gundam cannot be overstated, and now Real Robot is what the vast majority of people think of when talking about mecha anime. Even fantasy shows like Rayearth and Escaflowne invoke Real Robot tropes more than Super Robot ones.

"OMG, I'm recommending this for ages! Thank you so much for checking this out! This is so awesome! attempt 14, Day 15 of asking for a reaction to Dot Hack Sign openings and Endings. Madhouse is indeed a great studio with lots of big highlights. Macross is pretty awesome actually but it definitely has more than 1 opening. Regarding anime ages. Astro Boy is generally considered the first anime that had any real currency overseas. Gundam first came out in 1979 and influenced all other mech shows including Macross. Sailor Moon was first released as a manga in 1991, and as an anime in 1992. One Piece was first released as a manga in 1997, and as an anime in 1999.

Nana openings are peak honestly, I'm glad you finally reacted to them, you might also want to check to the opening and ending of Paradise Kiss (from the same author as Nana). As for your mecha question, the oldest by genre would be Tetsujin 28 for the mecha genre (from the late 50's early 60's) and Mazinger Z for the super robot genre (from 1972).

Nana is one of the best Anime experiences I've ever had. I watched it a long time ago and still remember it being a surreal experience. I'd be lying if I said it was perfect tho, especially since it doesn't actually have an ending. Even though it's one of the best selling Manga of all time, the anime never got green lit for season 2. Another victim of the Madhouse curse. 😢

I'm so happy you reacted to the NANA OPs! I have a bunch of playlists on Spotify but NANA is the only anime that I've given its own playlist. So many bangers! It's kind of a pre-K-On! band anime, much more focused on drama and romance than cute-girls-doing-cute-things. Very raw and emotional. Everything the creator, Yazawa Ai, makes is great but NANA stands apart just because of the fire rock music on top of the story and designs. Oh, "The Girl Who Lept Through Time" is a good movie. Madhouse is a top notch studio!

Yeah, Macross was Eighties as hell, but agree with other comments - Macross 7 was fun, Macross Plus was a weird masterpiece of cinema, and Macross Frontier POPPED OFF for its quality spike, with Yoko Kanno being handed an orchestra and told to go nuts for the soundtrack. It's one of the seminal anime space operas. But the oldest mecha anime was Tetsujin 28 in 1963, which was released in the West as Gigantor. Not all that great in itself, as a show, but it opened a lot of doors for a lot of ideas.

my oldest anime on the list is from 1978 you already seen nana first opening in best of compilation and nana was very big anime in the past, so big it partially responsible for author neglecting her health and crubbling under pressure comming from fame and the manga is in definite hiatus since then anime itself tells a story of 2 girls named nana sharing one apartment and dark side of showbisness nana is voiced in singing voice by Anna Tsuchiya reira is singing voice by olivia and you should watch endings too because there is more awesome songs vy those two nana is a mature anime and it don't stray away from bed scenes and non medical substances use but it is very well made, even though it looks pale by artstyle

Hey Luke, thanks for the reaction. (1984) (alternative version to the 1982 macross) then Macross II (1992) was a sequel to Macross: Do you remember Love (1984)

3:03 The oldest mecha anime are both Tetsuwan Atom/Astro Boy & Tetsujin 28-Go/Gigantor from 1963. Also, since we're talking about mecha (again), can you do all Gundam OPs in here? kzbin.info/aero/PL03FN3i4wnl3haPAxdc3B4Jr7pXzFBqTp&si=gxYRk0vbG7IvorOE If the sheer numbers overwhelms you, you can divide the reaction into 3 parts: - 1979 to 1999 (stop after Turn-A Gundam) - 2002 - 2011 (stop after Gundam Age) - 2013 - 2024 (from Gundam Build Fighters until now) ...and you can skip the ones that you already did (eg. Witch from Mercury) All in all, Gundam is a Mecha anime franchise that's been going since 1979 and still going strong now. In fact, the now-playing Gundam SEED Freedom movie is making a killing at Japanese box office as I typed this.

Luke, the oldest mech anime is most likely Gigantor from back in the 60s. It came out around the same time as Speed Racer, Astroboy, Prince Planet, Tobot the 8th Man and Kimba the White Lion (the inspiration for Lion King). Now as for Macross, there's Macross, Macross Plus, Macross 2, Macross Zero, Macross Delta, Macross 7, Macross Frontier among others. The series has been an ongoing story/world for over 40 years now. There's a ton of music, OPs, EDs and OSTs many sung by cast members. As far as Madhouse goes it's one of the top anime studios in Japan and has been for as long as I can remember, as a matter of fact Marvel made a deal with them and produced Wolverine, X-Men, Iron Man and Blade anime, DC got them to do Batman and CW got them to produce an anime based on Supernatural. Everything they touch turns to gold.

Super Dimension Fortress Macross is one of the pillars of mecha anime, along with Mobile Suit Gundam. In the US, Macross, along with Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross and Genesis Climber Mospeada, was bought up by a company called Harmony Gold and extensively rewriting all three series into a single series called Robotech. The 70s and 80s were huge for mecha anime, so if you want to check out some more classics, try Getter Robo, Heavy Metal L-Gaim, Aura Battler Dunbine, and Beast King GoLion (which you may recognize as Voltron).
