I agree with you ... Elvis was so cool no matter what He did 💞

The worst of Elvis, is still better then most of the greats of today. No other has the charisma he had, Before anyone did anything Elvis did everything.

Elvis said, "Has it come to this?" He felt degraded doing this song.

This is from the movie Double Trouble, and being the true professional that he was you'd never know he hated doing it. I read he told some fans waiting outside his LA home that day, "They had me singing to chickens today". There are songs equally 'trivial' in other movies and he tackles them all with good grace. Mind you, he was getting a million dollars a movie, so that must have been some compensation! On the other hand, there are some beautiful underrated songs in his movies too - Tender Feeling, Please Don't Stop Loving Me, Summer Kisses Winter Tears, Young and Beautiful - to name a few.

Since watching Elvis movies songs with reviewers. I've got to really enjoy them much more. Elvis had something for all the Family to enjoy. There's a lot of really good movie songs Like Viva Las Vegas. Come on everybody. Rock a Hula Baby. Can't help falling in love. Return To Sender. Little Egypt. Ect. Let alone his 50s films.

Thank you for acknowledging that Elvis hated doing this ❤ He was unhappy about a lot of his movies but he always tried to make the movie set a good place for the other actors and crew. This was from the movie Double Trouble.

Putting things in context Elvis often goofed around with songs and had a wonderful sense of humor. He never took himself too seriously and there is lots of footage to back this up, that said Elvis was very serious about his craft and the musical product his fans would be buying. Movie songs for the most part are situation songs, some work brilliantly example Trouble from King Creole, while others like this one are far from top drawer material. As the movies progressed and as certain plot lines became overused directors often injected scenes like these to squeeze in an extra song regardless of it`s quality.

It might not have 72. But everything else right on. I think elvis did 3 nascar related movies. Which was free advertisment for stock car racing. Elvis did a lot for this country.

Poor Elvis. He hated doing this. ☹ Best old McDonald ever anyway. 💗 This movie was Double Trouble. The movie you want to see is called It Happened at The Worlds Fair.

I edited my last comment, but I'll say it again here. The movie where he sang this song was Double Trouble. I think the movie you're talking about with the little girl was an early movie, I think maybe 1962 or 1963 off the top of my head, It Happened at the World's Fair. It was filmed at the Seattle World's Fair and featured the rotating Space Needle Restaurant that overlooked the whole fair. The little girl got separated from her uncle and Elvis took care of her while trying to find the uncle.

i also was thinking the same. However, I'd put both movies in the same category of mid 1960s movies where they gave him bad scripts & bad music. The public (to this day) see these films as this is the best Elvis can do, they don't know he was locked into a long term contract and subject to the material they gave him. But in a few years, 1968 and the dawning of the old Elvis

If you would like to see/hear some really great Elvis songs from his movies I would suggest the following. Edge Of Reality, Drums Of The Islands, Rock A Hula Baby, I Don`t Wanna Be Tied, Please Don`t Stop Loving Me, Let Us Pray and There`s A Brand New Day On The Horizon. Love both the reaction and your Elvis journey and I hope you didn`t mind I put up a double post but I wished to keep the song suggestions separate. Hi from Ireland.

---------NOT intended to be serious music. The studios gave Elvis garbage music & scripts, with occasional ok material. Elvis HATED this period (mid 1960s) and hated it more than his own critics. Thank god for 1968 comeback & taking control of his craft again.

I truly wish you wouldn't do this one. It was a terrible song thrown into a movie and, I think according to Jerry Schelling, they promised Elvis it wouldn't be included in the album. He said in an interview there were times he became physically sick at the idea of doing some of those awful movies. There's just so many remarkable songs Elvis performed. This is not one of them. But I really love your reactions nonetheless. Just heard your question about the movie. The movie was Double Trouble.

Elvis said himself that he hated doing this song in a movie and after this no one would take him seriously.

Elvis and his backup singers and band believed in doing the very best they could with the awful songs they were forced to sing. And they encouraged Elvis when it got him down. I believe that came from their Christian upbringing. Sadly Elvis was trapped and had no say in the movies or songs he had to perform during the movie years. Though he often bitterly complained, he was committed to excellence and it shows.

Elvis despised doing this song in a movie and felt like Hollywood and his fans would never take him serious.

And the other aspect of it is, to this day, newcomers to elvis are seeing & hearing material like this and mistakenly believing this is the best Elvis can do. If we can get them to sit still long enough to know the complete story, in sequence, 1968 would blow them away. Sadly, many just dismiss Elvis if this is their starting point (mid 60s movies).

Then when when the movie came. Out it and went world wide it show the fair to all the people. Free advertisment for the fair.

Agree. It's hard to get modern generations to listen to a song vs being able to see it. Unfortunately, that is why movie clips are going to live. Granted, there are also brilliant ones, but these newcomers dont' know what to pick out and what to discard. Elvis hated these clips more than the critics.

@@judyzeller3921 we should also place the responsiblity on the shoulders of his manager for negociating & accepting these kinds of movies, and the film studios for providing the bad scripts & bad music. Elvis had no leverage, already bound to contracts before he knew what exactly was required.
@WoodsWoman8224 күн бұрын
It wasn't this song so much, as it was that Elvis wanted to be taken seriously as an Actor, He was being type cast into doing a bunch of Musical Comedies and he really wanted his Singing Career and Acting Career for the most part, to be Seperate and this was frustrating to him. He never really did get to do that dramatic roll in a classic film he could really be proud of. There were a few, like King Creole, Flamming Star, Wild In The Country, Jailhouse Rock and Charro that were more Serious Fiims but none were That Classic he Dreamed of Making. ❤ ❤ ❤

This song was in the movie, but he hated singing it. His stipulation was that it would not ever be released on the song track album. Poor man. They did not honor their word.
