No auto-tune in 1979. Roger has a great high ,tenor voice. The bell ringing sound was probably an old alarm clock.(No cell phones back then either). Look up Roger Hodgson's live shows on KZbin. He's been touring since the early 2000s and still going playing this song and others.

I was at their concert in 1979 in Paris with my twin brother, we were 16. Our best concert ever, and I still have images of the concert in my head 44 years later. Sorry for my english 😉🇨🇵🇨🇵

Hi Key! You are correct, no auto-tune just talented musicians. Loved Supertramp back in the day. “Dreamer” is another banger! I’m going to guess that noise was a bell/ringer of some sort. Maybe the drummer in his percussion kit had something. As for some wicked flute, under your Rainy Days reaction I recommended another Carpenters song, it has Bob Messenger on the electric flute. That dude had it all, a triple threat. He played flute, bass guitar and sax. He passed a few years ago, sadly. But had a long career. Great reaction to a banger song!

I'm going to age myself and this song. I was that young man that just turned 18 driving around listening to "Breakfast in America" cassette in my car. Nas-T tenor sax.

I had their albums back in the day. I liked them so much because they were so unique. Nobody else sounded like them.

These guys were huge in the 70s and the early 80s how they are not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is beyond me yet some of the groups in there don't even belong there like rap and hip-hop groups sorry not rock and roll in my book.

Totally agree, a music hall of fame should have all those artists, but the Rock and Roll hall of fame should have all the great rock acts, and there are so many greats left out
