The body language is so telling as well. How she rolls her shoulders before approaching him, readying herself for a battle, but he ignores her, staring ahead as she is signing at him. She never says lyrics to him either, which seems to illustrate he isnt listening, only paying her attention when she moves away.

@thicccatto3956 have you had an argument in a failing relationship- absolutely a battle my bro 🤣

I always took the shoulder roll as her escaping the painting they’re both collectively in. The painting being a metaphor for the relationship. Hence why the paint comes off her at the end.

This song brings me great sadness, not only because of the lyrics, but i only ever heard this song in the presence of my ex fiancé (more her music style than mine) and now the song literally describes us now. After we broke up our mutual friends all stayed in communication with her, and cut me off. I haven’t spoken to her in 3 years, and never will again.

I posted a comment on a video over a year and a half ago. I mentioned how seeing your videos made me not give up on searching for the right therapist, and I found them. I mentioned I earned my GED and was going to college at 24 after dropping out in the 8th grade. I just want to thank you again. I may not have found the person who helped me to heal if it wasn't for you. God bless you brother. You are in my prayers.

Probably one of the greatest songs of all time. It’s so iconic
@ag99536 ай бұрын
The song is really about two people blaming each other for the breakdown of their relaitonship, he blames her for cutting him off and pretending not to know him, and she claims he gaslit her and refused to get over his previous lover. In reality the truth is likely somewhere in the middle, but neither wants to accept it.

I like that it shows both side. Everyone acts like it is one persons fault in a break up. There are always 2 sides.

Filmed using Stop motion photography, when her paint is removed at the end it was the painting footage in reverse
@redessa017 ай бұрын
Yes, there's a behind the scenes video showing how they made it. It took almost a full 24 hrs for all the painting. It makes the music video that much better when you realize how exhausted the performers were by the time they were able to film most of the singing.

Wonderful reaction. Everytime i listen to this song. I can never decypher whether the guy in the song is the narcissist that verbally abused the woman singing and shes telling her side or if shes the narcissist and hes the victim and her verse is really her just gaslighting him. I dont know😭 makes sense that this song won so many grammy's because its so catchy, artistic, different and relatable.

When I was 16 I had a gf who just one day ended things out of nowhere with no warning or talk about it. I had been dating her for about 2 years at that point so it wasn't like a small fling. I didn't have anyway to see it coming. I'm 32 now and well over but that shock effected me for years and damaged my ability to trust people.

My high school English teacher had us write an essay about this song. She was amazing, I struggle articulating long thoughts when I have to write it out and I don't know what she did but I know she helped at least by just encouraging me. When I talk I'm fine but when I write I'm always second guessing how to best phrase things... 10 mins to write this comment 😂

He began out of the picture... not part of it. We pan across to Kimbra, she's part of the picture. By the end, he is covered in paint and now in the picture, Kimbra no longer has paint on her.... she's out of the picture, moved on. She's cleaned herself of all that remained. However, he is still there, stuck, unable to move on, perhaps realising too late what is gone.

I know music is mainly your thing on the channel but I'd like to know what your thoughts would be on the game This War of Mine, it's a very real survival game where you play a group of civilian survivors in the middle of war and psychology effects are a major part of the game. For example if you steal from someone or have to kill someone it has a mental effect on your characters, so unlike most games you can't just go around shooting everyone or looting everything cause it can lead to depression or worse. Also the game devs donate some of the money made from their game to a charity that helps children effected by war around the world.
