Frank, one day I was at a book fair event a few years after Renato had passed away.🥺 This song was playing at the place I was having a drink. It was a beautiful Spring afternoon in Porto Alegre and the place was packed. When it reached the last part everybody sang along. It was so emotional! Legião forever!

Hi Frank! This video is from the early 80's. On the Bass guitar, Renato Rocha, who didn't stay long on the band. This is one of my favorite LU's songs. And yes, Renato Russo was unique. Huge Singer, huge artist. There is a guy singing nowadays with the other two, because people still need to listen to Legião. You should listen to them now. The Guy is @adre_frateschi. Frank, I'm happy to see that you are discovering and enjoying Legião Urbana. I see in you the same reaction that I and hundreds of thousands of young people had when they first heard Legião Urbana. A whole generation of Brazilians grew up loving and singing their songs. An example of this is the song FAROESTE CABOCLO. This song has almost 10 minutes of music in which not a single phrase is repeated. Ask someone who grew up in the 80s if he can sing this song by heart. I'm sure that 80% of people will say yes. This man could write lyrics in ways NO ONE ELSE could; to this day, no one is as poetic as Renato so effortlessly. Cazuza, or Tim Maia could match him, but like lyric wise, he was the best. Inspires me so much
