Hip hop was making major inroads into the mainstream in the late 1980’s. 'Buffalo Stance' was a surprise hit. Unique and still different to this day.

Sadly, hip hop killed off much of great 80s music. Then we started seeing the popularity of rap rise, and it never went away. Nowadays, the great rock and pop bands are a distant memory. It's just not a thing anymore.

The Atari St was not exactly a Synth, but Home Computer. 😉😄 Although this song is from the 80s, it pretty much already sounds like 90s to me, in a sense.

the first cubase was for Atari ST that‘s why the ST which had MIDI ports was widely used by musicians during late 80s early 90s …and it was affordable

The song is just a remake of Looking Good Diving With The Wild Bunch by Morgan-McVey which also featured Neneh Cherry vocals. This in turn was the B-Side to Looking Good Diving which shares the melody and instruments with both songs but the rest is very different. Cameron McVey is still the husband of Neneh Cherry and their son Marlon Roudette had a couple of big hits in Europe

That synth sound is s little dated in this song. Harold Faltermayer did this sound in the theme from Fletch (the movie staring Chevy Chase) back in 1985. Also Mirko Limoni ised the same sound in Cyber People's "Digital Signal Processor" in 1988. Still this is a great song, incorporates a lot of different elements.

The Atari 1040 st was actually a home computer.. not a synth.. launched in -86/87. A bit more expensive than the Atari 520 and Amiga 500 that were the most sold back then. Exluding the older and cheaper Commodere 64. The Amiga had slightly better graphics but the Ataris were always considered no1 for music I remember.
@christianduval83743 ай бұрын
Because the Ataris had on board MIDI ports right at purchase.

Yea, such a tune-1040ST Atari upgraded the basic design in 1986 with the 1040STF, stylized as 1040ST : essentially a 520ST with twice the RAM and with the power supply and a double-sided floppy drive built-in instead of external. And to make your own music with cuebase It was soooo much cheaper than the Fairlight Digital Series which at that point was the Series 3 but still sounded good! You mentioed the chart sucess it had in Sweden, + Netherlands-how comes you didn't say what other countries it was a hit in the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Italy, Norway, Switzerland, Finland, + Greece! And was off the hit album: Raw Like Sushi recorded in -September 1988-January 1989 and released in 1989 + one of my fav 80's albums! When will you do any of them 80's acid house tracks I sent to your email nearly 2 years ago with a a dozen links?? Just go in the search bar and type in acid house and will come up straight away as will recognize the title!
