You were right about the individual roles... but you also figured out faster than most that PTX isn't about staying in their lanes in any way. If they feel it'll serve the song best, they do it, whether it means one vocalist takes the entire lead, their bass (Avi/Matt) sings and Scott takes over bass, Kevin sings, one of the soloists helps or takes over something with percussion... nothing is off the table. They don't do ego and love to let every member shine. And they are all multitalented on top of just amazing vocalists. This video was definitely one take. The studio they shoot their evolution videos at said in 2016 that at that point none had taken more than 4 takes (and 2 were generally just to see if they could do better or try something different). I guess their newest evolution video might have been different because a lot of fans say it was prerecorded, but the live/one take format was absolutely true until at least 2016.

Pentatonix are: Scott Hoying - blond baritone, also doubles on bass when the bass sings a solo: Kirstin Maldonado - mezzo soprano; Mitch Grassi - tenor with a crazy range, often sings alto when they harmonize; --> These three are sometimes called The Trio, which was the name of their high school group (yes, known eaeachhc other since high school) Kevin Olusola - beatboxer who also sings tenor and plays the cello beautifully Avi Kaplan (in this video) and Matt Sallee (after Avi's amicable departure) ("Sixth member" - arranger Ben Bram, who has worked with them since the beginning, when they competed in the TV show "Sing-Off" in 2011.) And yes, this was done in one take.

Incredible reaction. Thank you. This is my all time favorite band. They are all musical geniuses. Please start with their older songs first so you can get to know them, where they started and see how they got where they are today. Please react to Hallelujah (over 615 million views). Daft Punk was their first Grammy win. They have 3 Grammy wins all in the earlier years when Avi (Ah-Vee) Kaplan the original bass was with them. Matt joined after Avi left at tail end of 2017. Avi has his own solo career now which is another reaction source. He leans to folk genre and is fantastic! Hope you will continue your journey down the PTX rabbit hole. The fans (Pentaholics) are the best and they will support you all the way.

I love that this was your first experience of them, seeing them do it all live in one take. Welcome to Pentatonix! The Pentaholics will come flooding in now. There are so many songs to react to. Avi is the bass in this video as it is an earlier video. He sadly left a few years ago due to being unable to keep up with the fast pace lifestyle and his mother’s health. Matt is his replacement, and an amazing singer in his own right.

My church does not use any instruments so we sing acapella. And without the beat boxing and stuff. 😂 But this is SO incredibly difficult to do, if you have people that can sing it is beautiful. If you have people that cannot, well, it is a disaster. If just one person is off key you notice it immediately, and it would be the same for them, there is absolutely nowhere to hide, no instruments to drown you out. You are extremely exposed when singing in this style, especially live, and they sound this great live! The arrangement of everything they do is an art in and of itself. There is nobody better at this! ❤️

Matt Sallee is the new bass since 2017. Avi was the original bass from 2011 to 2017 and seen here in this video. The rest of the group are original. Scott, Kirstin, and Mitch sang together in high school as The Trio. Pentatonix was formed when Kevin and Avi were added to compete in the nationally televised series called Sing Off. Of course they won. Mitch and Kirstin change their looks often which confuses many reactors. They have won Grammys for Daft Punk, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy (sung by a group with no instruments for a song with no words), and for A duet with Dolly Parton singing Jolene. Recommend Hallelujah, Bohemian Rhapsody, Sound of Silence, and Coffee in Bed(original).

Have you ever looked into how MJ created all his music? He is on the list of artists that never learned how to read/write music so instead he would beatbox the tune to tape then layer in the different parts before finally adding the vocals meaning that he had every idea on tape so he could revisit it later allowing them to go in and pull his voice to layer into the finished music even after his death. You can hear him talking about how he creates songs in a courtroom recording when someone had sued him trying to claim he stole the song Dangerous from them. So yes MJ won a case by singing in the courtroom. Another fun one is MJ was a crowned king of Sanwi (inside ) back in 1992 so any legal issues turn into a diplomatic issue quickly even after he stepped down as king

I am so glad that you liked this video. It is a great introduction to PTX (Pentatonix). If you wish to continue down the PTX rabbit hole, then I have a few suggestions. Many people have many favorites in many different categories. "Daft Punk", "Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy" and "Jolene" are the three songs they won Grammys for. For covers try "Sound of Silence" (Simon and Garfunkle), "Bohemian Rhapsody" (Queen), and "Imagine" (John Lennon). For original pieces I recommend "Sing", "Happy Now", or "Love Again". Oh and just so you don't get confused on future reactions, there has only been one member change in the 10 years they have been together.

Brilliant reaction! I've subscribed for more PTX reactions :) They have over 10 years of back catalogue and there's no such thing as a bad some from them. Avi Kaplan is the base in the Evolution of MJ, he left the group in 2017 very amicably and helped them choose his replacement, Matt Sallee. They have 3 Grammys - the first being for Daft Punk which they shot themselves in one of their kitchens on a $400 budget!!! Almost all of their music is acapella, however sometimes Kevin (beatboxer) will play the cello as well - he's a world standard cellist and he created cello-boxing - cello while beatboxing, which is how the Trio (Scott, Mitch, and Kirstie) found him. Scott will sometimes play piano too - however every time there is an instrument used it's very visible in the video - so if you can't see it then it's their voices. Scott, Mitch, and Kirstin/Kirstie (rhymes with thirsty) have been friends since they were kids at school and were known as The Trio. Avi and Kevin joined them to do The Sing Off - which they won gaining them a record deal, before being promptly dropped by the record label as the label stupidly thought acapella didn't have a market! PTX have said many times this was the best thing for them though as it meant they could go their own way and with the power of KZbin that's exactly what they did. Scott is baritone, but he covers the base line whenever the bass is singing - and he go very high too! He can riff/run and belt like you wouldn't believe! Kirstin is alto/soprano with a very large range and can even sing in whistle notes! Mitch is counter tenor and can go amazingly high - often described as the voice of an angel! Avi Kaplan is a classically trained basso profundo with a reputation for breaking speakers - some of the incidents are shown on KZbin lol! Kevin is - well how do you describe a cello-boxer who is native fluent in Chinese, was pre-med at Yale, can pretty much be an instrument you want with his voice, and also has the purest voice and an awesome falsetto?! Matt has an awesome bass with a wonderful creamy sound to it, he sings brilliantly and has a great range too, he is a wonderful addition to the group and was the perfect choice to take Avi's place! Basically they are all amazing, wonderful people who can't seem to put out a single bad song ever! They have a massive collection of covers and originals, while also doing their own stuff too, which never gets in the way of the group stuff. You will find your subscribers going through the roof if you keep doing PTX courtesy of all us Pentaholics who are very loyal and love seeing new reactions! Watch out though as their label are great at blocking (nothing to do with PTX, they love reactors!) so be careful with those pauses. I recommend Imagine (pay attention to the signs), The Sound of Silence, Daft Punk, Radioactive with Lindsay Stirling, and the live in Singapore version of Aha (it Has to be that version - every single Pentaholic will agree with me on that - Mitch was out of this world that night), they are great places to start. Thank you if you read this far lol. :)

Where to go next with PTX very much depends on the sort of thing you want. They're quite varied in what they put out (style, not quality - quality is always this good): More medley fun of the same sort: There's a few "evolution of" style numbers and all are great but also consider the 90's Medley which is really recent Modern dance: Daft Punk (a medley in tribute to the French techno group), Love Again (an original with some mind-blowing stuff from Avi and Kevin) Incredible Harmonies: Run to You, Mary Did You Know, Mad World Uplifting: Hallelujah, Imagine Latin vibes: Havana Christmas-y: Far too many to list, here.

PTX is the world to some of us! You could say we are a bit obsessed! Therefore, we are a bit obsessed over reactors reacting to this group! We'll be here every time you react so we can see the appreciation on your face! Thanks for reacting to this one! We love it! All of their Evolution Of videos are perfect, you may enjoy Superfruit too, that is Mitch and Scott's side channel! It is edgier than PTX and not rated PG! They are magic together!

Just for fun, you might enjoy their flawless "90's Dance Medley," I recommend it, but prepare to groove and chair dance! Then please change it up with Amazing Grace, Sounds of Silence, and their most recent, Seasons of Love, from the musical, Rent. These will give you a feeling for their more polished, evolved, perfect in every way sounds of the last two years or so. They just put out another album of original songs, The Lucky Ones, that are stylish little pop bops -- I love em ALL! (BTW, I subscribed! I like your style and your comments were great!)

The bass you saw is Avi Kaplan. He was the bass from 2011-2017. Matt Sallee replaced him. Absolutely do the Daft Punk video, and then more Pentaholics will be here to guide you down the rabbit hole of Pentatonix.

Hallelujah appears to have disappeared. Both with Avi Kaplan (bearded bass in here) and Homefree you will have less difficulty with copywrite strikes and blocks than PTX who is with Sony Music. There is a major overlap between the 3 in fan base. To ease over try Homefree's Ring of Fire ft. Avi Kaplan. Avi is with Fantasy Records but has his own music under either his own name or as Sequoia Summit Records which he set up in 2017 licensing music to Fantasy Records and Homefree has their own label as well. Another acappella resource is Peter Hollens also outside of record label tyranny. He has sung both with Avi (Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair) and several times with Homefree. It is all pretty incestuous particularly because of the need for and rarity of basses.
ТАМАЕВ УНИЧТОЖИЛ CLS ВЕНГАЛБИ! Конфликт с Ахмедом?!
