Short background story about Finsterwacht: Finsterwacht is a new campaign from the popular German fantasy Pen & Paper series "Das Schwarzen Auge" (The Dark Eye) similar to Dungeons & Dragons, which is why orcs also appear in the video. Saltatio Mortis and Blind Guardian were ready with Promoting the New Campaign with a new song, which I think is pretty cool 😁 Saltatio Mortis have also collaborated with Bethesda to make 2 songs for "The Elder Scrolls Online": "The Dragonborn Comes" and "Pray to the Hunter" which are definitely worth a reaction 🙂 pretty great band that I've seen live several times. Even more so - Saltatio Mortis wanted to make a song with "Dark Eye" background. When they asked permission from Ulysses (the publisher) they were so on board, that we now get: A pen&paper campaign, a metal album and probably several epic music videos. Sometimes nerds are just wonderful 🥰

They also did a cover of EC's Hypa Hypa! Lead singer Alea was one of the featured artists on Feuerschwanz' cover of Warriors of the World United and there is a live video (streaming concert without audience during 'that special time') of Feuerschwanz' Schildmaid (Shield Maiden) with both of SM's bagpipe players featuring.

It took them 4 (!) freaking days to film this. And editing was finished the day or the morning before the premiere... 😅 (Which I think is the reason why the captions were only added afterwards). Most of the extras are cosplayers of LARPers, who brought their own costumes (including the orcs) - as are some of the band's members. Fun fact: One of the band members (the one who got an arrow through his neck) is doing most of the filming usually, especially during fighting scenes - which I suspect is the reason why in the video he was killed off early. Thus, he could act off screen during most scenes. 🙂

But I think by now they are a very experienced team with everyone knowing exactly what to do when or what to do if things - well, don't go as planned. 😅 As someone else already mentioned, this is their 5th Fantasy-themed video, but so far, I think it's the largest production (even if "Pray to the hunter" had a similar number of extras and stuff).

The basic story is humans versus orcs and the title can be roughly translated as "Night Watch." Amazing that these guys make a video of higher quality and a better story than most movie studios can make today. Saltation Mortis has several other epic music videos based on Norse myths (My Mother Told Me, sung in Icelandic/Old Norse) and fantasy (Pray to the Hunter from the Elder Scrolls online game). I am not sure if all the members of Blind Guardian contributed, but I know Hansi and Alea (Saltatio Mortis lead vocalist) alternate singing the lead during the song. Evidently this is more than an album and will include a novel and role-playing game. BTW, the lyrics are awesome.

All Saltatio Mortis videos are made "old-school" - only real people with great costumes in real surroundings. Only in "The Dragonborn comes" (Skyrim The Elder Scrolls) the dragon at the end of the video is CGI. If you like to watch SaMo videos that are in English: The Dragonborn comes, My mother told me, Pray to the hunter, God of War (with Peyton Parrish).

Yes, and no. The foreground in the village scene in Pray to the Hunter is real, but the far background is cgi. And the aerial view of the large army is a composite of multiple passes of the same actors.

@@GoreCoreReactsandReviews ah brill. Bloodbath are an all time favourite of mine. Their 00s run was phenomenal. I may request my favourite band, Project46. They’re Brazilian, primarily sing in Portuguese, but 2 of their songs “Erro +55 and Pode Pa have English captions. They do have English re-recordings of the tracks on their latest album but Portuguese sounds more authentic. If you could react to one of the 2 I mentioned I’d love that, I think you would too. Would give them some deserved recognition and perhaps bring you a Brazilian audience as they’re huge in their home land. Didn’t wanna go too obscure, but they’re a little obscure outside of there though
