Please note that the 3rd and 4th opening are when Soul Eater reaired in Japan after it's initial showing. They're usually referred to as the "Repeat openings" The first two are the ones that are usually associated with the series.

If you ever asked yourself: "What if there was a whole Halloween-themed world ?" This anime got you covered. Worth the watch for sure, even if in went of the manga rails at the end, due to catching up to the source material.

This anime is worth a watch for the characters alone, the story is great, and I can't even think to how many times we would hear "referee" in any scene Blair is in.

Here's a little information tidbit for you! I don't know their name off the top of my head, but the first opening, Resonance, was key animated by ONE person for the entire minute and a half runtime! In addition, none of the environments were rendered in 3D, all were animated traditionally! I know you're more here for the music, but thought maybe you'd find some of the development trivia neat. Great reaction!

Just to clarify, key animation is not the same as animation. The key animator draws "Key" frames, and the "In Between" animators draw the frames between the key frames while making sure everything matches up. It would take quite a while for one person to do a whole minute and a half of animation alone. Even single handedly drawing all of the key frames is still impressive, but key frames alone do not complete a minute and a half of animation.

Oh my GOD I love Soul Eater so much. I miss this series dearly, one of the first shows I've ever seen. I don't think there's many people who have reacted to it either, since it's on the older side. Just saying 👀

Yeah but the anime original ending kind of sucks ass so I don't think it's worth getting into these days either. Back in the day we weren't swamped with amazing anime like we are these days. I look back at this series fondly but the ending we ended up with in the anime puts most people off.

Soul Eater is one of the most unhinged anime. One moment you're with them fighting a villain the next moment is an Excalibur quest. Also the girl who did the Second repeat opening did an ending song for Bleach which is where I had heard her voice.

Such a great show! The halloween theme art style and even concept for the story. It works its way up there for the story. I think it does it very well too. It gets you invested in the characters and their developement while having cheerful/colorful and depressing/dark themes going on and off eventually bringing the main story into focus. The absolute crazyness that the main villains concept is based off is genius. Whats to there to fear but fear itself.

I recommend reacting to the Soul Eater soundtrack. It was composed by Taku Iwasaki, whose famous for mixing genres of music that wasn't supposed to work togethers, but still works (Hip hop and industrial rock and jazz in Soul Eater's case). The final OP you reacted to is called "Ai ga hoshii yo", its basically translates to "I want love!" or "i want to love". I think the second works better since the song usually immediately follows the verse "ai ga hoshii yo" with "aisararetai yo" which means "i want to be loved. Essentially "I want to love, i want to be loved" vs "i want love, i want to be loved"

I know I'm a year late, but Soul Eater came out a year after I was born, and when I watched it when I was 13 or 14, I absolutely loved the show, lol. The main characters actually act like teenagers, and I can confirm this because I'm 16 now and I act like each of them in some way. Soul Eater is easily up there in terms of my favorite animes. If you like Halloween themed animes with a load of humor, and teens who actually act like teens, then Soul Eater is the anime for you.

Trivia time : Both of the Mangaka's work Soul Eater and Fire Force take place in the same universe with Fire Force being essentially the prequel to Soul Eater. There are a few nods to this in the Fire force OP's themselves.

Fun fact is that fire force is technically a prequel to soul eater even if the two shows have absolutly nothing to do with each other till like the last 15 seconds of fire force.

The Soul Eater manga was still ongoing while the anime was out, so the anime followed a different storyline from the Original Manga, similiar to FMA case. imo the manga story is better by a lot, plot and completion wise.

I think you should check out the op of Kokkoku. I haven't watched the show and from what I've heard it's apparently not particularly good, but the op is absolutely amazing and the vibe is immaculate. The full song is called flashback by myavi vs kenken.

This series is great. Unfortunately, the anime only covers the first third of the manga. And the last arc of the anime is anime original and not very good. The manga is 10/10 all the way through though.

It's really good, but sadly after about half of it they caught up to the manga so they had to make up their own version of the story from there, which isn't nearly as good as the later manga ending. Sadly, unlike Fullmetal Alchemist where this was also the case, Soul Eater never got a "Completed" remake like FMA did with FMA Brotherhood. It's definitely worth watching, but after that you might want to read the manga to see the real ending
