Reacting to Storytime by #Nightwish
The comments have spoken! Nightwish reactions every Wednesday it is! Let me know in the comments if you have any tips or wishes for any particular NW song I should react to. So I have two options for next week: Romanticied or Dark Chest of Wonders. Please let me know which you prefer - both are new to me. I'm also considering reacting to Nemo (as it is an old favourite but I've never herd it with Floor). Interesting to realise that I never heard all the songs to the 2004 album, Once. It must have been by the time I stoped listening to them!? And if there are other bands/music you want me to react to and discover - let me know! ((more music info further down))
Hope you enjoy this #Reaction
Stay amazing!
💚✨ ~Stanzi
ps. If any you want to keep in touch with my Nightwish thoughts and comments, I'll post on twitter throughout the week.

Well most everyone has heard these songs many times, so they're obviously not here just to hear the songs. And the point of coming to these channels is to enjoy the combination of music + reaction, and people have the right to express their desired balance or they won't come here and they won't subscribe. If they don't say anything and then never come back, how is she to know why people don't like her style of reacting?

I love your enthusiastic and emotional reaction! When I see Tuomas smiling like that, I get the feeling that he was thinking, "we found the permanent voice of Nightwish". Floor came into the band as a mid-tour replacement when the band parted with Anette Olzen in 2012 and by the time of Wacken Open Air in 2013 she was touring with them for about 10 months and was not announced as the new, permanent lead vocalist for the group until right after this show. I am sure the decision to ask her to join permanently came before Wacken but I like to think Tuomas was elated to have Floor and her amazing vocal skills with them. Her abilities allow Tuomas to become "unchained" because she can do it all. You will find out how this sounds when you start listening to songs from the Endless Forms Most Beautiful album and the Human Nature album released earlier this year. There is nothing Floor can't do.

The children's choir is featured a lot in this album, it's a concept album that has a very "amusement park/circus" vibe. It also has a movie to go with it with the band making appareances (with Anette in the band still) As for next song... Dark Chest of Wonders is the show opener so if you want to do it in order you should go with that one, otherwise just following the 'best songs' also works, although in this concert almost every song belong to that category. Romanticide is also a must but it's later down the setlist.

Dearest Constanza, Don't apologize for pausing, this is a reaction after all. Going back a few seconds actually is a brilliant way to get back into the flow anyway. And if we wanted to hear just the music, we do know where to find it anyway :). And the emotions; well,Nightwish is a band that evokes emnotions due to their masterful compositions, and Floor because she is an empath who is able to emote through her world class singing, to let us feel the lyrics, the music, and her own feelings in a way nobody else can, not even remotely. Every of their songs and compositions is an experience, and an emotional adventure. As to the sound quality: it really is good now! As to the Pit and the Pendulum reference, as others stated, there is indeed, and there actually is more to it. Tuomas is a poet, of course, but it also refers to Poe. In the title of the composition (it is not just a song, but a composition with 5 movements effectively), Poet is a clever combination of Pit, Poe, and the word Poet itself, IMO anyway. Since you did get emotional with this song, make sure you have tissues at the ready for the Poet and the Pendulum, however, you may well need them. Subscribed! For more Nightwish and Floor of course :). Warm regards, Wim

Yeah, I'd say that Romanticide is a good next pick. When "The Poet..." is concerned, I think that it's a good idea to first have a basic grasp of the band, both its history and music, as it might make the song even more emotionally powerful. Constanza isn't new to Nightwish though, although I guess that she's unfamiliar with some of the band's material due to her break from listening to them.

@@calanor4130 Hi. Did Constanza say she drifted away from Nightwish before Annette? I can't remember what was said now tbh. If that was the case, Poet might be an unknown quantity to her, even if she knows about the Tarja leaving story. I might be wrong, as I can't recall exactly what was said.

I simply loved how you kept your hand on your heart fearing it could jump out of your chest...💗 Yes, this song is an ode to your inner child, a ticket to that time full of joy and enthusiasm, when the outside world wasn't able to taint a child's innocence... I think that's why you loved so much the children chorus: you wanted to join them as a child yourself, isn't it?😉 Me too!😁 Wait for TPATP, it's better to dive into a few other songs before, maybe someone with Tarja too, to better comprehend why there was so much turmoil after her leaving and why it affected Tuomas so much he nearly threw away his own life...😔 Please react to Ever Dream (Wacken 2013!) next: it's the best option to keep Storytime mood alive for you... Greetings from Italy! 👋🇮🇹🖖

The only things you can consistently expect from Nightwish are excellence and the unexpected! And do keep tissues handy for Nightwish songs - some are very emotional. Some are also fun, some are very folk/metal, some are operatic, some are pure heavy metal. I agree about waiting until you know the band better before tackling The Poet And The Pendulum. It digs hard into the history of the band and the troubles experienced by Tuomas on their first change of lead vocalist, so is rather deep - so deep, in fact, that he has to have considerable support from his bandmates when performing it, and even has his sound tech cut the vocal track from his in-ear monitors for the last parts of the song, although he, of course, knows them by heart as he wrote them. Understanding the story of that dark period in Nightwish's history is helpful in appreciating the song, and the fact that it is Tuomas' personal descent into near suicide and back again, and is his catharsis. It is themed on "The Pit and The Pendulum". Live at Wembley Arena is the best version and the official version has lyrics overlaid with Closed Captions here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGW5l6xrrqisY8U Welcome back to the Nightwish Arm - the rabbit hole is deep and enjoyable. i saw it, your first true Floorgasm, the tightness in the chest, goosebumps and tears, this is what we in the nightwish army call a Floorgasm (even thought it includes the entire band), and the fact that it wasnt what you were expecting is exactly right, because every nightwish song is different, an experience onto itself, as far as the Poet and the Pendulum, it really does need to be understood first, as to what it means to Tuomas and why he wrote it

‘Poet’ was born out of the emotional fallout of firing Tarja. The fans want you to be really invested in the band as people and know lots of their personal and professional histories and specifically the backstory of the split and why Tuomas wrote PatP in order to fully appreciate the gravity of the song. Lots of reactors have appreciated the impact of knowing the history beforehand; lots of reactors have gone in blind and still gotten the emotional impact even without understanding the historical specifics. It’s really up to you how you choose to do it. Most of us will appreciate your reaction either way. I’m really enjoying your journey so far and can’t wait to see where you go from here.

You are so expressive as the emotions wash over you, and I appreciate that you're sharing the experience. Thank you! P.S. One of my favorites lovely lady! Now that Floor is in the band, everyone is having so much fun. They all love what they do! I look forward to your next Nightwish reaction. I think that Floor will continue to amaze and surprise you. You are correct about a connection to the famous Poe story. The connection is the parallel regarding the intense emotional and mental reaction of the main character. The back story for this song involves how Tuomas dealt with the dismissal of Tarja from the band in 2005. He received intense criticism and backlash from the media and the fans, who obviously were in love with Tarja. Tuomas fell into a deep suicidal depression and this is the emotional journey which culminated in the song. It was the opening song on "Dark Passion Play" the first CD without Tarja. There is a great live version with lyrics from Wembley 2015. When you are ready we will be there! My vote for the next one is "Dark Chest of Wonders", another Tarja song from her last Nightwish record "Once" and the Wacken opener. Peace.

It always makes me happy watching someone reacting to new Nightwish songs - I've heard them 100's of times but never get bored of them. Really happy for you that it's made you happy. Most of the Nightwish Army will suggest to wait before you cover Poet and the Pendulum - the back story is very important so I would suggest ' Song of myself' , 'Romanticide' , 'Amaranthe' , 'Everdream' , 'Dead Boy's Poem' (live in Buenos Aires) - a beautifully crafted song btw. One of Floor's favourites called 'Sleeping Sun', 'Ghost River' has some very heart wrenching moments in it. 'I want my tears back' from Buenos Aires is a must for crowd energy! Show openers 'Shudder before the Beautiful' at Wembley and 'Dark Chest of Wonders' at Wacken. Definitely these before Poet and the Pendulum and 'The Greatest Show on Earth'. Maybe you can jump in to their latest album and react to the music video 'Noise' - a very sobering experience - will make you think. Love your emotions - keep them coming!

Great reaction, although you might get tired or saying "Not what I expected" at the end of every new song. Some listeners do try to push The Poet and the Pendulum quickly, but I have heard so many reactors thank the army for telling them to wait until they were much more immersed in Nightwish to react to that opus. There are only three Nightwish songs that I personally would recommend to do research on the songs before listening - The Poet and the Pendulum, Shoemaker, and The Greatest Show on Earth. The Poet probably needs the most research, because understanding the origins of the song makes the song much more approachable. The other two just needs a basic understanding about the subject of the song to avoid the confusion of some reactors who go into them blind. If at all possible, get the versions of The Poet and GSOE that have lyrics. Have fun on your journey - we are here with you. As far as your next song, you can't go wrong with either one. FYI, there is an acoustic version of Nemo on KZbin from Planet Rock (with Floor and Troy, who you haven't met yet) that you also may like to check out after listening to Floor's version if it's one of your favorites.

Yep, I second that. It's a fact that you have to research the situation and the reason behind the writing of the song. If all you find of that is sunken in you're ready to react to the Wembley 2016 version with text, kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3bdi4WDqc2bjrc . And after "The Poet and The Pendulum' you're ready for 'The Greatest Show On Earth' live @ Tampere, kzbin.info/www/bejne/ambFo616f7CNadE . Then you have listen to the 3 longest musicpieces of Nightwish. The band smiling the whole time while playing is somehow telling the audience that they are reminded that Floor is the perfect vocalist/front woman for them/ the band...

The chorus in the background, only 10% of it is in the background the other 90% is the 82,000 people who were in attendance for this perfect show.

Symphonic Metal.. It allows them to take their music in several different directions.. They have the long, epic, multipart, full production style songs. They have several of the more classic heavy Metal style songs, and like this one, just about everything in between.. They even have songs with a Celtic rock/folk kind of vibe.. But no matter the style, they all the song will have those rich signature symphonic elements that make the music so full and complete sounding.. Take your choice, the Nightwish army loves it all...

I love your commentary, don't worry about the pausing you're doing great! You're clearly enjoying the music and have plenty to say about it. I much prefer this than someone simply watching the video, saying "that was amazing" then swiftly moving onto the ol' like & subscribe script. You do you, it works!

Very genuine reaction! Loved it! I appreciate how you are not afraid to let your emotions show while reacting to a Nightwish song like this. For myself, Floors angelic vocals big deep right to my soul and will not let go. I am a 53 year old man and get quite emotional during a lot of Nightwish's songs. And everytime I hear these songs it's the same thing over and over. These songs warm and feed my soul and make me feel great from the inside out. Welcome to the Nightwish Army. I look forward to following along on your journey of Nightwish rediscovery!

Your reaction was awesome! Yes, Nighwish can go to emotions:). So many words? Endless most Beautiful and Human :II: Nature albums are even more words in the songs. Hard job to Floor:). Recommendations to next: Romanticed live Wacken(heavy), Alpenglow live Wembley(happy/uplifting song) or Dead Boys Poem live Buenos Aires 2018(softer/emotional song). Keep going!
