The game is very, VERY much like Genshin Impact. In fact its almost a clone of it down to a lot of the interface and world traveling and such. The main difference is that the combat itself is very much centered on countering your enemies and swapping out on the fly to continue your combos. And, there is an element of Pokemon as you can "capture" the world's creatures and use them in combat. There's also some quality of life improvements such as being able to run up walls or use like a "zip line" to travel from certain points to points. Makes getting around the world easier and fun. If you like Genshin, Luke, you'll like this game. Its still early in its life so the world map isn't nearly as big as Genshin's but hopefully as more updates come out it'll be expanded.

I'm so happy you are starting to react to Wuthering Waves! INFO ABOUT THE GAME: It's a similar style of game to Genshin Impact as an open-world gacha RPG. However, it's a lot darker. It's set in a post-apocalyptic style setting. You're the MC and instead of trying to find a sibling, you're trying to find your memories. If I reveal much more it'll be spoilers kinda. The combat is incredible, and I can not state that enough. At the start it's a bit slow and kinda medicre since it's Kuro Games (the devs) first time making a Triple A game. After chapter 5 of the 1st arc it gets better. Version 1.1 is amazing. Also, the character quest in 1.1 is arguably one of the absolute best out of any gacha game ever! The one thing these devs know how to do, is created cinematics if nothing else. I would recommend trying the game out a little. If you like Genshin Impact, I almost guarantee you'll like this game.. ON a different Note: If you ever go back for some video game music, please check out Narwhal from Punishing: Gray Raven (PGR). The developers are the same as Wuthering Waves. For us PGR players, that song is the game's National Anthem. It single handedly saved the game when it released.

The people who know something about the MC's past and deeds definitely want to get closer, but to me it seems more like an idol, or someone they are thankful for and respect immensely. The example being Changli. Yinlin seems like the equivalent of Yae Miko when it comes to personality and teasing aspects.

@@sonjab.6852 Beta WuWa was generally dark but due to complaints on the Chinese side of the game the game's story was switched to a more harem-esque style story. For example Beta WuWa had Chixia hold you at gun point upon waking up at the start of the intro and Sanhua attack you the first time you meet her. Spoilers: Also I feel like this version of the story wasn't as good as the current one due to the fact that both of them would have still probably taken the same "MC is a hero of the past" route, it makes more sense that at least Sanhua would recognize you as this potential "hero" since she's close with Jinshi, Chixia on the other hand still should've held us at gun point the first time we met due to us being a complete random stranger at that point in the story.

There is a bit of bad blood between the vocal minorities of both Wuthering Waves and Genshin Impact communities at the moment, which isn't being helped by certain content creators, but don't let that affect your experience of either game - enjoy what you like to enjoy.

Wuthering Waves is by Kuro Games, theyre famous for thier music from PGR (Punishing Grey Raven) Gameplay is very fast and heavily based on dodges and parrying with most hard content one shooting you if you get hit, its very DMC coded and they have a lot of references to games they took inspiration from in the game

PGR music was made by Vanguard Sound, these guys also made the OST for Arknights and Girls Frontline. Kuro's just known for PGR, which is still quite a feat considering how great gameplay is in that game.

The insane thing about WuWa's resonator showcases is that they start out really strong and yet they managed to MASSIVELY improve the newer ones. Also there's two trailers you should definitely check out, the Featured Cinematic "Saving Light" and the Official Release Trailer "Waking of a World". They both feature amazing songs^^

as many others have mentioned already wuthering waves aka wuwa is similarly to genshin impact being a open world rpg and is essentially genshin's first competitor so comparisons comes naturally wuthering waves is developed by a studio called kurogames whose previous experiences in the gaming market was a 2D game called twintails on the battle field and i think its similar to plants vs zombies in a sense and a hub based rpg mobile game called PGR (Punishing Gray Ravens) which the devs directly stated that devil may cry 5 was the direct inspiration wuwa sets itself apart from genshin by being set in a post-apocalyptic world called solaris-3 as in the 3rd planet from the sun (basically implying to be a futuristic earth) and the gameplay revolves around parrying and dodging atks instead of elemental reaction like genshin making wuwa a much more heavily reaction oriented game (and scoring higher on the difficulty scale too) though wuwa does have elements but they call it attributes instead since lore wise they arent manipulating elements like genshin's vision holders but creating and manipulating scientific phenomena like how spectro the light element/attribute is "the ability to bind photons" or havoc the dark element/attribute is “the ability to annihilate matter” for example the playable characters in wuwa are special individuals like genshin's vision holders but they're called resonators; individuals who has awakened a tacet mark somewhere on their body which looks like a waveform graph but it isnt some static tattoo as it can moves, grows/shrinks and glow too, its not all fully explained yet but its specifically mentioned they're called resonators because they can resonate and manipulate the frequencies of objects or things which im presuming is through their tacet marks which is why it must be left exposed at all times and these tacet marks can be anywhere on the body such as sanhua who has it in her eye overall wuwa has an overarching sound and music theme going on as many terms used is adjacent to or is corruptions of real sound/music terms and that the chinese name of withering waves Míng Cháo translates literally to ‘sound tide’

Fun fact about Sanhua, Danjin, & Aalto is that they're all 4 stars, but some of the funnest characters in the game. Sanhua & Danjin are some of the best characters to use when fighting against bosses due to their kit being simple to master and great at parrying bosses, while Aalto's kit is basically if Yelan was a main DPS.

I'll have to say this game may be more down your alley than genshin, because it is very combat heavy game and the combat is extremely fun! The gameplay is similar to genshin... But with a bit more complex combat mechanism. They are both an open-world game. While genshin uses elemental reaction as a main trait in their game, WuWa uses a mechanism that turns your character to a monster and do some skills depending on the monster you equip. You should try it. The 5 stars battle animation, effects and ultimate cutscene are absolutely amazing.

Regarding the game, I have been playing this game since its release, and its great fun if you're into combat-centric gacha games. I have been wasting hours on the same fights, just because the battle system has gotten me addicted lol. I'd say this game is actually perfect for you - the combat system is even more fun and satysfying than Genshin's, you can RUN UP THE WALLS instead of climbing them, the stamina doesn't limit you as much during the exploration, and the most important thing - you can SKIP the story if you're not interested in it and progress much faster. Even if your character is lvl 20, you can still fight a lvl 120 mob and win because the gameplay is more skill based than dmg check. The Echoes system is very cool as well - you beat a monster, you "catch" it (kinda like in Pokemon), and then you can use it in battle, suuuuuper fun!

wuwa is the best rival to genshin right now, it looks better and has a harder battle system. It does many thinks like genshin if we talk about the open world and ingame currencies, it looks like Honkai, especially the UI. In my opinion it does many things right and other things wrong. Wuthering Waves run on the Unreal engine so the graphics are on another level compared to Hoyoverse games who run on a heavely modified Unity engine. another thing is that Kuro games's other game, Punishing Gray Raven is well known for it awesome combat(played it myself and its great!) and they brought that over to WuWa. As for the setting, its a post apocalyptic setting with the focus on Sound, with Resonators being people who can manipulate sound and objects at will. The newer Resonator showcases will blow your mind, trust me on that!

Now that Luke entered the Kuro Games Rabbit Hole with WuWa, we must tell him to also enter the Punishing Gray Raven Rabbit hole, A boss fight like the twins or Narwhal OST could be a good starting point.

wuthering waves (wuwa) is the first genshin impact competitor in the same genre (tower of fantasy was MMO, and the other hoyoverse games has their own style) ... so compare wuwa to genshin is natural. wuwa is from kuro games, before known by punishing gray raven, a combat heavy instanced dungeon gacha game... so the hopes of old players of genshin that left because genshin has no endgame got some expectations on wuwa (until now they are okay with the challanges) ... In the launch a lot of the VA was a little bit off, but they are getting better. the background of the game is an post apocalyptic modern world, the combat is based on perfect dodge and parry insteado of elemental reactions, although elements and resistences are part of the combats... the weapons are sword, long sword, something like a genshin catalyst, gauntlets and guns a lot of players that played wuwa have difficult time trying to come back to genshin because of the movement facility that wuwa has compared to genshin.... ALSO VERY IMPORTANT: the first 3 characters that you reacted are 4 stars, only the last 2 was 5 star character

so this game is open world gacha game like genshin, but take genshin's combat and make it better. every character and dodge and counter, also you get to take the creatures you defeat and obsorb an "echo" of them and use them in combat. also the first 3 characters you reacted to are only 4 star, not even 5 haha but the last 2 were 5 star characters, definitely want to see more reactions and even gameplay from ya :D

The game is open world similar to Genshin, but the setting is post apocalyptic. Gameplay wise a lot of people compare it to souls games because at endgame it can get quite difficult, but imo it's more like Bayonetta or Devil May Cry.
