First time reaction to dimash - Autumn strong (with true story)

👉 Dimash sings this song in Mandarin, it has completely different lyrics than the original. This version is very well known and popular in China and is about autumn, feelings, farewells, sadness, longing. 👉 Participants in the 'The Singer' competition had a week to learn and arrange the song that has been chosen for them. Dimash didn't speak a word of Mandarin at the time and only learned the lyrics phonetically. 👉 This song brought Dimash the 'Best Foreign Singer' award at the Golden Melody Award 2017(equivalent to the Grammy) in Hong Kong. 👉 You should watch the performance is in Kiev 11.03.2020, the last concert before Corona paralyzed everything ... ...grandios and very touching. 👉 The original Japanese version by Koji Tamaki based on a sad true story... very touching… The song is about Yoshiko Yamaguchi, a Chinese-born Japanese actress during World War II. She hid her Japanese heritage under the name Li XIanglan and became famous in China. However, when the war was over and she revealed her identity, she was accused of being a spy. She was deported to Japan and longed for China. Ms. Yamaguchi did not return to China until many years as deputy environment minister in the Japanese parliament. Sarah, I don’t know if you already reacted to her but another artist that is phenomenal is Eva Cassidy. Her voice is beautiful and she sings with such feeling. There is a link below for a video of her singing Autumn Leaves. She passed away that same year from skin cancer. Her parents had many recordings of her and have released them pothumously.
