Right. They are minstrels reenacting Shakespeare's, Romeo and Juliet. "Swear not by the moon (the inconstant moon)" is part of Juliet's response to Romeo's confession of love to her that he swears by the moon. Bookish Theories already put up an explanation video. Also, JB (Leader) explained why they used the word DYE for DIE. The members wanted the album to express Got7's "color." Bookish Theory gets into that as well. If you want to dig into Got7, I would say start with Girls, Girls, Girls. It's their debut song and they've been giving us bop after bop since. It shouldn't surprise you that the members are close friends to BTS, though they are a very social group. Where BTS has been heavily influenced by American Hip Hop, Got7 has drawn their influence from R&B. Mark (holding the dress) is American, the oldest member and his acrobatic dance skills are amazing. Yugyeom is quite a talented and powerful dancer as well and the Maknae, Jinyoung is one of the more popular young actors in Kpop and has quite a few dramas under his belt. JB and YoungJae write and/or compose a lot of their songs and each of their high notes are just beautiful! BamBam is THE KING of style and fashion and he's a very talented dancer (fun fact, he and Lisa go back to childhood friends) and then we have Jackson, whom you already know. My bias changes constantly, but I think right now Jinyoung (He'll forever be Jr to me, lol) is my bias. These seven men are talented AF!!! For me, of all the Kpop groups I like, they are the most similar to BTS and I just love them. I get just as excited for a Got7 comeback as I do for a BTS comeback and I love their comraderie and sense of fun. Also, they're evil savages to each other, and I LOVE that too, lol.

OMG you really paid attention to details haha. Yes, their concept of this comeback was Romeo and Juliet. "Swear not by the moon" because the moon is always changing, but my love for you will not change. Their teaser trailer of the album is actually reciting from Act 2 of Romeo and Juliet. A theory is that they are the one acting out the play, playing Romeo and Juliet, hence the tent in the beginning and carriage at the end taking them to their next performance/story.

They often include a bird in their MVs, especially in MV with storylines, they started doing that ever since an MV in 2016, Fly (the first MV with a deeper story connected to later albums). GOT7's fandom name is called igot7, it has a similar pronunciation as ahgase, which means "baby birds" in Korean. That's why their lightstick is a bird and birds are often used in their MVs.

Ugh! I'm so happy you like GOT7!! :) They're such a powerful, yet underrated group. Their talents are just... crazy. They have everything from dance to rap to even acting -- and they're unproblematic, and their fans are so lovely. If you want to react to more of them, I recommend You Calling My Name, Lullaby, and Eclipse. But their older songs (like Just Right and Hard Carry) are awesome and hold their own, too! (Also, as an ARMY, I have to say that GOT7 and BTS are actually friends. Like, RM and Jackson are buds, and JK, Bambam, and Yugyeom are friends. The two groups have even shared a stage before during an awards show, all 14 of them!)

Its romeo and julliet They all play characters from the play Jinyoung- julliet, he sings from his room and balcony JB- the friar who helped romeo escape and also provided julliet with the posion Yugeom - romeo, shown in the garden below the balcony Jackson- the king of vernoa who has to be the third party to all this chaos Youngjae - paris probably, the guy who was going to marry julliet and wanted to be buried with her Mark and BamBam probably are each on of the houses , but i'm still digging depper, been a while since i read the play Also theory is that even within the MV they are acting out a play, juding by the intro into a tent and ending with them traveling in a wagon

Yeah, I said the same thing, this is definitely referencing Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. They literally use the lyric “oh, Swear not by the moon” which comes from Act 2 in Romeo and Juliet: “ o, swear not by the moon, the inconstant moon, that monthly changes in her circles orb”. It’s very interesting. I like the way they made this video too. It works well.

If u love deep concepts Got7 is the group they have worked in trilogy before too this one can be assume to be one too *Eclipse* (between security and insecurity that they face) *Call my name* (they exist because us fans call their name) *Not by the moon* ( their love to their fan is consistent and never changing) Before these three comebacks they did the same thing years ago with hard carry,fly and never ever not even the three MV are connected but the trailers too so u have to watch that in order because yes the songs individually are dope but if u listen in order the story is amazing...if u can there is an explanation video for those three too

Like you said, in the scene Jackson was in the thrown, the two opposing sides was the two opposing families and yugeom the one who was in the garden was representing Romeo that’s why he was in the garden and Mark who was holding the dress was representing Juliet , and of course many other things as well

And you’re correct! This is one theory. O’ swear not by the moon... this is from Romeo and Juliet when Juliet says this from the balcony. The full line is - “O’ swear not by the moon, the inconstant moon.” Also, there are a few other hints like JB has a vile of poison, the balcony where JinYoung is standing, Jackson is the Prince, etc.

The bird represent the fans When got7 announced their fandom name it was "igot7" which in Korean was pronounced "ahgaseben" it was shortened to "Ahgase" which means baby birds and this is how the fandom logo is a bird and the groups started including birds in MVs referring to their fans. Got7 don't include female models in their music videos ever since 2016 instead they include the fans aka the birds .

It's based off Romeo and Juliet play by Shakespeare.The theory is they are a theater group. Traveling in the caravan.In the play Romeo says to Juliet he swears by the moon he loves her and she says don't swear by the moon the moon is always changing.Because she wants him to love her consistently.There was a King in R&J. The one scene with Jackson with the the two sides represents the two feuding families the Capulets and the Montagues.

If you see the end pose of the choreo, all their hand positions show the phases of the moon, and it's neat to me because it also ties in with their previous comeback 'eclipse' where they use the moon reference a lot to talk about their theme. If you like something artistic, then i think you should try GOT7 Eclipse and You Are (especially the latter).... Eclipse's music video is just so mesmerizing and we have the moon there too... And for You Are (my personal favorite), the music and the video are both so aesthetically beautiful....the video is full of colours and appreciation to both friendship and environments...the music especially the chorus always make me want to lie down on an open field and just admire the beauty of the nature, the sky....it's truly beautiful...and the necklaces they hold in the mv is a very good symbolism of their unbreakable friendship... Conclusion- I just love them...other songs from got7 that i love includes Teenager, Thursday, Page (Basically a GOT7's national anthem), and for the recent comeback Poison (love how they perform with simple props aka moving door + handkerchief)...these are all b-tracks tho...there's a lot other but i'll just recommend these😆💚

They are drama actors perform everywhere, at last they go other place to perform, may be a new theme Juliet : O, swear not by the moon, the inconstant moon, who monthly changes in her circled orb, lest that thy love prove likewise variable. and I think JB was the Friar， Friar talked Juliet that has a drug that will make Juliet appear dead for 42 hours, and Juliet took it. Therefore, Juliet was sent to the burial vault of the Capulets. Jackson was Prince Escalus - The Prince of Verona. As the seat of political power in Verona, he is concerned about maintaining the public peace at all costs

My messed-up theory of this MV (please watch the DYE cinema trailer and the Not By The Moon MV teaser) They're on a Romeo and Juliet play, with the curtain on the beginning and them on a wagon at the end, going to their next destination to perform. Theory: Romeo saved Juliet, and no one died. Romeo: All of them (GOT7) in different R&J scenes Juliet: Ahgase/The fans/the Bird on the MV DYE Cinema Trailer: All of them are writing something on pieces of papers, they're writing their parts on the so-called play. At the end of the teaser, they gathered around with the book Not By The Moon, which probably contains their own interpretations of R&J, with them as Romeos saving Juliet. MV Teaser: Jaebeom, leader walked inside the stage tent and slowly walked around, passing each member as if introducing them. The clock strikes at 1:16 (Jan 16 is GOT7's debut date), the lights are on. GOT7 wears their masks as if they were about to perform a classical play, which is the Romeo and Juliet. MV: Ballroom - They were all in white, doing some interpretative dance, telling the story of Romeo and Juliet, GOT7 version. They were all wearing white Cast of Characters: GOT7 - Romeos Ahgase/The Fans/The Bird - Juliet Scenes: The Bedroom and Balcony Jinyoung Bird *the bird flew out the window *Romeo and Juliet met but Juliet decided to stay away as they can't be together. In the end, Jinyoung left the bedroom and went out to the balcony, later on he was with the other members staring up at the balcony. Romeo decided to leave his castle. Garden Yugyeom Bird *Yugyeon holding the bird. Romeo holding Juliet, protecting her. After Jackson left the throne room, Yugyeom set the bird free. Romeo left his crown, his family, his throne, so he can be with Juliet. Poison Jaebeom *he changed the poison from black to green vial in order to prevent Juliet from dying. Maybe it contains a some type of liquid that makes you look like dead for certain time, when in fact you were just sleeping. In the end, he dropped the black poison. One men in black robe poured the green (assuming) vial on a half-opened casket. Romeo gave the green vial to Juliet to wake her up from her deep sleep before they left. Casket Youngjae *he was lying on top of it, not inside, not mourning. He stood up and left the casket. Romeo was tasked to poison Juliet. After giving her the 'poison', he left her deathbed to rebel against his royal family. Throne Jackson *he was struggling with his decisions, represented by the black-shirted men and half-naked men around the throne, trying to grab the throne while he was sitting on it. In the end, he decided to leave the throne. Romeo defied his royal family and decided to be with Juliet Deathbed Mark *he was carrying a white, half-dyed cloth but there's no body to prove Juliet died. It was not dyed in black but in silvery grey, which can be interpreted as she was half-dead from drinking the vials with supposed poison that Romeo (Jaebeom) changed. Cage Bambam *being held inside a cage by the blue lights. He was being held by something (probably the Montagues) and did not dare to step out, not until he decided to save Juliet and walked out. There was no scenes of him inside the lights afterwards. Other scenes: Men in black hoods and masks around a half-opened casket GOT7 outside the scene, YG holding the bird Yugyeom released the bird The bird flew out, acrossed the casket, through the moon breaking it GOT7(Romeo) dancing inside the broken moon, released from all the struggles, just like the bird (Juliet) End: Phases of the Moon

From what I understand, Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is the basis for this song. I think I saw somewhere that they say, "Swear not by the moon," because the moon is continually changing phases and positions in the sky, as opposed to swearing by something that is stable and unchanging. Just some thoughts.

I’m a new ARMY and I basically decided NOT to go deeper into KPop because I was happy with just going down the BTS rabbit hole. But I saw a video that Jackson did last year and was so impressed with him. When this video came out I decided to go for it and watch it and I fell in love with this song. I even downloaded the album and Jackson’s last album. Help!!

You got the concept right but it’s not a re-telling of Romeo and Juliette it’s more about telling a love story that is as hopeless as Shakespeare’s literature. They symbolized a person’s affect on their loved ones as a dye spreading within them. And refusing to lead a promise by something that is constantly changing ‘cause that means the relationship is turbulent and filled with uncertainties and insecurities. It’s all beautiful. They’re my personal favorite group. They’re funny, they’re talented, they’re friends with BTS. And you should check the rest of their music. I’d recommend (Hard Carry, You Call My Name, Thursday, Poison and Never Ever) in that order. Hope you like them and if not, it’s cool. Hope you have fun. Love your content btw.
