Key fought hard with SM to make Bad Love the vision that Key had in mind. The whole bad love mini album is one of the best solo albums from SHINee. Key also got his first music show win as a soloist with Bad Love! Yes Minho only has 2 so far: I'm Home and Heartbreak. As for Jonghyun he has many, if you specifically want MV's then I'd recommend Crazy (Guilty Pleasure), She Is, and End of a Day, but imo his best songs are bsides. If you include one or do like a part 2 then Moon is a must (it's a fan favorite bside and for a reason) some of my other favorites are: Cocktail, Suit Up, Hallelujah, Take The Dive... I love basically all of his songs though so it would be hard to recommend just few, it depends on the mood of the song and genre because he has like everything: ballads, funk, EDM, neo-soul, jazz, you name it, making it the most diverse SHINee solo discography. Jonghyun wrote and produced almost all of his songs, his music is very authentic and unique in the scene of Kpop.

Girl, I'm so glad you got to see those videos, I love your reactions, you're so sweet, Key is amazing, a complete artist, but it's a MUST to check out his entire albums, every song is truly amazing. The song Bad Love does have an 80's vibe concept, you were right about it, he talked about it, it was his dream, his vision for years and years until SM finally allowed him to go for it. And the whole Bad Love Album has a retro vibe to it, but it's amazing. His previous album Face is a non skip masterpiece as well, I hope you can react to them, or listen in your own time, but please do check those albums out, it's totally worth it. Also check Minho's songs, JongHyung's songs and MVs and Onew's previous video Blue, and other live performances by him that will blow your mind, like Friend live, Rainy Blue live, Onew and Punch's Way, etc.

SHINee's soloists are all so unique. it's really amazing to see how their individual music styles are expressed through their solo work, and when they come back together as five, you can hear how that all blends together to form that SHINee sound we all love. key is my favourite soloist because his music is completely aligned with my personal taste - Bad Love mini album was literally made for me, had chills again watching your reaction it brought me back to when i first saw and heard this song.

"Bad Love" is also my favorite one so far, and I read in other comments that the entire album sound is just like that, so I'll be checking it out as soon as I can. I said this in other videos but the fact that they can make solo music and sound so different from eachother, makes them as a group sound much better. 💙💗

"Bad Love" is straight out of classic '80s - rock ballad/ electro-rock/ dance-pop. However, it mixes in '60s, '70s era sci-fi elements. If you like the sci-fi retro theme in Key's "Bad Love" MV, if you haven't already, you should check out his "Bad Love Mood Sampler" video -- it's a teaser video that came out a few days before Bad Love's release. Now, that video is straight out of a '50s or '60s sci-fi TV show or movie. Which will make all the campy-cool space images in the "Bad Love" MV make a lot more sense. Key said his style is more of the retro '80s/'90s MTV, so that's the treatment they used to come up with his comeback concept. The packaging on his albums were even designed to look like vintage packaging like what you would see on '80s/'90s era toys and products. SM's songwriter Kenzie was the lyricist/producer of this song with contributions made by Key. Key came to her with the idea to create a retro '80s/'90s style song that fit his vision for what he wanted this album to represent, and this is what Kenzie and Key came up with. Everything you see and hear was designed by Key. This is 100% authentically Key's style -- from the storyline of the MV to the sound and style of the song, to the outfits everyone wore, to the set design, etc. -- it's all based on his ideas and design. He even helped design the outfits that the backup dancers are wearing. It's Key's vocals you hear in the whole song -- including the deeper whisper parts. The person in the mirror is the woman who is haunting him with her bad love. He is thinking of her and remembering what she put him through during their relationship, so she appears in the mirror like a memory that won't go away. As Key has explained, the storyline in this MV is about how his character is going crazy, trapped in his mind, and while watching TV he projects himself into the scenes on TV. Every time the channel changes, his character is shown in a different scene in the MV. (And it's not modern day TV programs, as you can see from the aesthetic, it's supposed to remind you of '80s/'90s international/U.S. TV programs.) That is why at the end you see him haggard and worn out looking. The TV goes fuzzy and he is pulled out of his crazy warped fantasy world and brought back to reality. Where he is recovering from the "Bad Love." I think "Bad Love" has become my favorite song of 2021, and it's not just because I am a Shawol. I mean I can't even think of a song that came out even in the last few years, that compares to how much I love everything about "Bad Love." (Minho's "Heartbreak" and Onew's "One Star (Way)" are close seconds.) Key also has a pre-release track from this album called "Hate That ..." featuring Taeyeon from Girls' Generation, and it also has an MV. As I think you know, Key is our fashionista of the group, who is SHINee's stylist for a lot of their MVs and stage outfits. He is known for really paying attention to detail when it comes to fashion. To Key, fashion is about being unique and looking for ways to stand out, without being outrageous. So everything you see him wearing will be very trendy and fashion forward. Key can pretty much wear anything -- time and time again, he has shown that the fashion styles and clothing that would often look ridiculous or just average on most people, when he wears it, always looks high fashion and cool. That same thing could be said about all the members of SHINee, with their own unique styles. Many people in the industry look to Key when it comes to fashion trends. That's also why SM has made him its director of fashion. Key is friends with several big name designers. With SHINee's experimental concept, the group is also known for creating fashion trends, so designers really covet a chance to work with any of the members of SHINee -- but especially Key -- because SHINee will give them street cred and undoubtedly make them more popular. Key is also known as SHINee's dance copy machine. He has the ability to see and remember choreography the fastest in the group. He only needs to watch the dance once and he has it memorized. And on top of all of that, he is SHINee's fluent English speaker, and he is almost as good as a native speaker. That is why his pronunciation of the English lines in his songs are so crisp and clear. That is also why he specifically included the song "Helium" on his Bad Love album, which is all in English for his international fans. As a member of SHINee, Key's amazing vocal range and dance skills shouldn't be surprising, that's just what the members of SHINee are known for. And, not only is Key an amazing singer, but he is also one of SHINee's rappers. How often do you see a rapper with that type of vocal range? That's why SHINee are so highly respected in the industry because almost no one can do it the way SHINee does it. He is also a K-drama and movie actor, so he knows how to act. And, as a musical stage actor, he knows how to use his full vocal range, and he has no problem projecting his voice to the back of the theater. Plus, he is one of the most popular guests/cast members on variety shows, so he knows how to capture people's attention. As SM Entertainment's experimental boy group, everything SHINee does is meant to be the first and they are expected to set the trend. Everything the members of SHINee release should be a sound and style you have never heard in Kpop before, because they are the ones who are supposed to introduce the next style and sound to the industry. With every new song SHINee produces it's expected to be different than the last -- including the members solo work -- so you will never hear the same style or sound from Key in any of his songs, even on the same album, and yet, somehow it will always be very Key-like. The industry looks to the members of SHINee to show them what the next song style and dance trend will be. When any of the members of SHINee does something, the industry takes note and follows suit. SHINee has started the trend with almost everything -- with every one of their songs to their dances to clothing trends, to live performances, to the way Kpop is promoted -- there is almost nothing that can't be attributed to something SHINee has been involved in. And Key's solo work is no exception.

As you see, Key's "One of those Nights" features Crush, a solo Kpop artist who is known for his R&B vocals. Crush is also part of the hip-hop crew Fanxy Child with Zico from Block B and Dean, another solo artist. So a lot of the vocals you hear in this song are not just Key's vocals but also Crush. Some of the amazing vocals you are hearing are Crush singing and he is even the one with the high note in this song. Key's and Crush's voices blend so well together it's almost hard to tell them apart unless you are really listening for the differences. Yes, Crush was the other guy you saw singing on the train in the MV. (Crush also happens to currently be dating Joy from Red Velvet.) What makes Key's debut solo album and songs unique is that he allowed the featured artists in his songs to take the bridge of the song, where usually most of the time this would be the main singers parts. Also, because a good part of the "One of Those Nights" MV takes place on a subway train, it is thought that this story may be connected to SM's SM Culture Universe, storyline. For example, I think that the train theme is somehow connected to SuperM's/EXO's storyline, however, I am not sure how yet. All I know is that, we see SuperM in a subway train in their "100" MV, we see aespa also in a subway train in their debut MV "Black Mamba" and we see SHINee in an old train station in their recent comeback with their "Don't Call Me" MV. We even see Kai on train tracks in his "Film: Kai" solo debut teaser video during his "Amnesia" section of the video and people on a subway train platform as it transitions to his song "Mmmh." And if we go back even further, you see EXO on train tracks in their "Love Me Right" MV and EXO-CBX (which Baekhyun is also a member of) on train tracks in their "Horololo" MV, etc. The featured rapper/female singer in Key's "I Wanna Be" is Soyeon, the leader and main rapper from (G)I-dle. "I Wanna Be" is a tribute song to Shawols. If you look up the lyrics you will see that the song is really sweet. This song was a gift to Shawols as he left for the military on the same day that this MV was released. This song was meant to keep us company until he was discharged. "I Wanna Be" was the title track from his repackaged album, released in 2019, which is a followup to his solo debut album Face. Key had his solo debut in 2018 right before he went off to serve in the military, so his debut includes his album called Face -- with MVs for his songs "Forever Yours" and "One of Those Nights" -- and his repackaged album I Wanna Be with it's title track "I Wanna Be" MV and his SM Station single "Cold" MV. In between his solo debut album and his repackaged album, he also came out with a Japanese album called Hologram. As Key has mentioned in interviews, although he felt it was time to release his first solo album, the songs on this album and repackage wasn't really a full representation of him as an artist. He said he wasn't ready to show that side of himself yet. Which is why with his Bad Love album, we got to see more of an authentic Key with his design and style in the songs. He said his solo debut was so rushed because of his military enlistment date, that he didn't have the time to really make the kind of album that he would have liked. Although Key is an amazing dancer, he did not choreograph any of his solo dances himself. As you may know, Key is actually considered SHINee's dance copy machine, which means that he only has to watch pretty much any dance once and he is able to copy the choreography close to perfect. Key is the fastest of the SHINee members to learn a new set of choreography and they say he has it memorized on the first try. Key has a really good memory. He even memorizes all the members parts in SHINee's songs, both the song and dance -- including SHINee's Japanese songs. So he is the one the members go to if they need help remembering a part of the song or dance. The members have said the reason why they deliberately name their first solo album in this way is to show everyone that no matter what they do they are always a group and SHINee is very important to them. It's a way for the members to show their solidarity as SHINee even when doing solo projects.

You are right! It was really hard to tell when they are singing, their voice do bled so good with each other. (Crush dating Joy is such a random fact that I didn't knew I needed 🙈💗) The fact that not only the SHINee's MVs are connected but also other MVs from SM Groups is so amazing and new to me, It's like Marvel 🙊😲 (Which I love). Them naming their albums with rhyming words is the cutest thing ever, it shows how much they love eachother and how big their bond is. In addition to Bad Love, Key recorded a MV for the song Hate That with Taeyon (Girls Generation) and the song is wonderful! Key threw in everything he loves in Bad love, the retro, the star wars or star trek concept, etc. I would say Bad love is the real Key. The whole album is so good and so him. He involved in everything from the concept to album design. I love Bad love so so much ❤️ I love SHINee as a group and also as soloist. In my opinion, SHINee solo work are so so so solid and impactful. Their work are distinctive and have strong personality especially when they are fully involved. Key is outstanding on stage too.
