Context for golden hour 😭 a few years ago a fan tweeted a couple pictures of Mark, where he was badly cooking some eggs, and tagged Gordon Ramsey. She said something like ‘rate my bf’s cooking skills’ and Gordon Ramsey responded with ‘ go back on tinder’ 😂

so in golden hour Mark's basically talking about 5 things: 1. he doesn't know how to fry eggs but it doesn't matter cuz he's rich (yeah he's flexing) so he just gets his fried eggs at a restaurant (watch some video about Mark and his history with eggs for some deeper understanding lol) 2. the egg thingy kinda is an allegory (he doesn't know how to make eggs but he doesn't stress cuz he's never been hungry BECAUSE HE ALWAYS EATS XD) = he knows he's skilled and on top of his game so nothing really stresses him 3. in a world where everyone is the same you should be your own different self 4. some ppl make fun of how he's yapping "nonsense" a lot of times even tho Mark probably thinks a lot about how to say certain meaningful things, so he makes fun of them in return by saying "wait - but what does that mean? ~hehe" after talking some serious deep talk 5. he's horny

16:02 ITS 127 DEBUT ALBUM BACK IN 2016. People were JUDGING NCT SO BAD. But they clapped back with this. NCT 127 - Firetruck Album Backstory on Taeyong; The boy had immense pressure put on him. Like the managers used to tell him that if NCT failed it would be because of him :/ he had bullying accusations aswell which turned out to be COMPLETELY false, infact HE was the one getting bullied.. he even had to apologize for it even though it wasn't true.. - Mark had to enter this rapping contest called "Golden rapper" in Korean. He didn't know any of the kids that were popular around since he was a foreigner, so he felt left out and they did make him look like he was left out. So at the start (episode 1) the producers (evaluators) were saying mark was amazing and he had great flow. Until they heard he was from SM and NCT. Immediately started dissing him. The boy was juggling dream, 127 and writing his own lyrics for the rap contest. So when they didn't appreciate him and kept on bringing him down the nct boys got violent and like started standing up for Mark (which is why there's like one scene in the whole show with NCT, the rest got cut) 😭😭 I love em fr. Becasue ME TOO????

Mad City is an old song, it was first performed on the "SM Rookies Show" a pre-debut show in 2015, before NCT. I like that they kept the song and put it in 127 debut album, because it's a very good song. You should watch the live performance too !!

Nearly everything Mark writes has layers of meaning. He writes poems sometimes and posts them to Instagram and his other social media places. People have explained to you most of the back story of Golden Hour (and Golden Hour is the term used to describe the light at the time of day when the sun is going down and it one of the best times to take photographs. He also posts a lot of pictures of the sky (just like they showed in the MV). So yeah, that one is full of inside jokes and things he and fans have talked about. Child was his first solo release and is full of pondering about growing up to be responsible and having so many expectations and attention on him while still a kid (he debuted at 16 and was the de facto leader of Dream since before debut). It was his friend and producer Dress who suggested he go with more singing for his first solo (and the focus on the guitar at first is because Mark loves to play the guitar) He wrote Mad City with Taeyong before debut and it really is worth seeing them actually perform it. My personal fav is the live stages from their Unity tour. The power and emotion is so strong and they were babies when they first started performing this together. You should really see a live performance of "Mad City." They are THE rap duo in my book and have other songs together that you should check out. The lyric about doubting TY is because from the beginning, Taeyong has gotten a lot of hate and still does. I don't know if it's jealousy or misinformation or what, but it makes no sense because he is such a talented artist and super sweet and kind person. Taeyong and Mark write A LOT of their own lyrics for NCT and SuperM songs and compose some too. As for their solo works, they are pretty much all self-written and composed. Taeyong has a TON of self-written/composed songs, including a solo album, a SoundCloud, his own KZbin channel, SM Stations, and a bunch of unreleased songs. I REALLY hope that you'll check out his solo stuff too. Also, his second album will come out in just a few weeks. He has a lot of diversity in his music. I'll recommend Taeyong's "Shalala," "Long Flight," "Ghost," and "404 File Not Found" (lyrics please) for starters. Loving your reactions! Keep them coming! Thanks!

The meaning behind "Golden Hour" is sort of an inside joke with Mark and the fandom lol it's been a reoccurring fact over the years that Mark isn't a very good cook and has specifically had content related to him cooking eggs that fail completely. In the first incident, a fan posted his messed eggs on twitter and tagged Gordon Ramsey, saying that Mark was her boyfriend and asked Gordon what he thought. Gordon Ramsey actually responded and said that the fan needed to find a new boyfriend. Mark saw it and ever since, his inability to cook eggs has been a thing. On the show NCT World 2.0 he was assigned the task of cooking eggs for all 23 members of NCT and it was a mess. So this song was his way of being clever, funny and showing off his rap skill and versatile music style all at once. Hence all the egg imagery and lyrics. Gordon Ramsey also DID hear this song and posted a TikTok responding to it, saying he's still waiting for Mark to call him lol People who don't get Mark's history with eggs find it pretty confusing, but regardless it's a fun song so even if it doesn't make sense to you, you can enjoy it in some way.
