For me, I can't decide between 2023 and 2024 as my favorite Worlds. So I'll just say both are my favorite. I think it's just because, as you know, it took Faker 6-7 years after his crushing 0-3 defeat in finals in 2017 to climb back to his throne, and 2023 proved that he wasn't done yet and 2024 silenced everyone that was calling his 2023 win a fluke. Plus the storylines and the way the teaser cinematics built an emotional narrative just got me. Such a powerful and emotional impact. And very, very inspiring. Before 2023, people doubted he could ever win again and his haters were constantly saying he was washed up and past his prime. People did not consider him the best player anymore. It seemed like everywhere you went someone was calling him old and that he should have retired already. Esports traditionally has had this perception that by the time you're 25-26, you have already started to lose some of your reaction time and reflex and whatnot, and so tons of esports players would retire by around that age or even earlier. But Faker is now 28 and has no intentions of retiring yet, and is STILL playing at a high level versus significantly younger players. He even has cubital tunnel syndrome which he spent the majority of this year finding new ways to manage including posture changes/equipment changes etc. Yet the way he played this year at Worlds, you'd never guess he had that sort of injury. He's just so impressive. The Unkillable Demon King! By the way, you asked if there's a ranked match we would like to suggest you watch. I don't know if there's anything that is "beginner" friendly really, but two of the best matches for T1 in the last couple of years were T1 vs JDG at Worlds 2023, and then T1 vs GENG at Worlds 2024. Both were Semifinal matches and both were incredibly hype, despite never making it to Game 5 (the score was 3-1 both times). I also have some recommendations for future reacts. Right after T1 won vs JDG in 2023 (something nobody thought they would be able to do), there was a mini documentary about 15 minutes long released that showed the perspective from inside the arena during that match and some other stuff, called "Let's Go Faker" on the LCS channel here on KZbin. It's a really awesome behind the scenes look and a dive into why it was such a big deal for Faker to win that match. Another fun 3-minute video you could react to is called, "Dear Faker, Please stop beating us" on the LEC channel. EDIT to add: "Creator Spotlight: Faker" which is a 12 minute mini doc. Also "[SKT T1: THE CHASE] Ep.1 Faker / The Birthday" on OGN -- this one is really intimate, as in, gets into Faker's personal life and struggles after the 2017 defeat which you might be interested in.

About T1 at Worlds, they haven't finished below TOP4, always made at least semifinal and 7 times in finals
@AMightyStorm11 күн бұрын
Yep, 9 times at worlds, all 9 times in Semis and 7 of those were grand finals appearances. And of course, 5 wins, no other team comes close and no other player other than his former jungler Bengi comes close to Faker, it's just wild

I actually re-read some stuff, so here's what I could find about Gen.G and SSG/SSW: (edit: based off of english forums, korean ones probably have more information but my korean is not good enough to understand it) first up: SSW (Samsung White) and SSB (Samsung Blue) used to be sister teams, co-existing in the LCK (back then the league was still known as OGN). Due to rule changes, sister teams could no longer co-exist in the same league so they had to merge into one team. (this happened at the end of 2014) So SSG (Samsung Galaxy) went on to be the only Samsung team and then the following happened: After winning in 2017, Samsung announced that they will no longer sponsor any professional teams (meaning the team couldn't be named Samsung anymore). A chinese company called KSV bought the team and named it KSV eSports. The process behind this "buyout" is one of the things many can't agree on. Technically, it was not a rebrand since the team was aquired. So the team players & coaches were bought out, the LCK slot was aquired, but the organization is a new one. But since the team and slot remained the same many see SSG and KSV as the same team. A year later, at the end of 2018, the team then renamed to Gen.G. So technically, Gen.G and KSV are the same but SSG and Gen.G are not, while practically not much changed when SSG was aquired by Gen.G (at that time KSV). The whole thing seems very tricky (and complicated) to me to really evalute until what extend you can consider them the same team? Riot doesn't acknowledge the worlds wins by SSW and SSG as Gen.Gs, while the organization behind Gen.G seemingly does (although the organization behind Gen.G is a bit... questionable at times? Like every single year their CEO publicly cries about how they have no money, but then proceeds to sign some of the most expensive players in the league spending like 6 millions on 5 players each year.... plus coaches and staff, and that just for one team out of 5 devisions with some devisions having multiple teams, which kinda says a lot about how the organization tries to present themselves in the media....)

I noticed they complain about not having money too. Yet this year they managed to keep their star players AND signed Ruler back. Something sus there lol. Maybe they don't want to be labeled a superteam, when teams like T1 just down the street raised their whole roster from their Academy.

but in LoL park there is the GenG banner with 2014 Spring win, which mean Riot does see them as SSG some way no?
