If there is such a thing as a dual perfect performance then Queen: Somebody to love (Live In Milton Keynes) is it. This was - I believe - Freddie's favourite song and he loved to tinker around with it. No performance of it is the same and in this version you can hear the crowd chanting Somebody To Love as he revs them up. It also has the most romantic intro.

'Gotten' isn't even a word in English. It's an American and Canadian word. 'Got' is used in the UK as an English word.
@josefschiltz2192
@josefschiltz2192 5 сағат бұрын
@@harvelle2432 'Gotten' originally from Middle English geten, from Old Norse geta, and is related to Old English gietan. In British English, gotten was the preferred form some centuries ago. But, then around the 1600s, the standard form shifted to got athough gotten does appear in some British English dialects. Gotten migrated with the New World settlers. Gotten appears in the works of Shakespeare and the writings of Thomas Hobbs and the King James anglicization of the Bible.

Yeah saw them at Wembley Arena the day after John Lennon died, and they added a tribute to John into the concert. We had all lost our voices by the end and went home croaking at each other on the tube. And yes most reviewers at some point say, "You know that drummer can sing a bit as well!"

I'd second this. 40(ish) years on, and Queen's set at the Live Aid concert still stands, in my opinion, as the greatest live performance I've ever seen. However, "Barcelona" may be Freddie's greatest masterpiece. Two performers at the pinnacle of their respective genres ... with Freddie getting the chance to sing with his idol. Very, very special ...

Freddie Mercury existed - not for long enough - but he did exist and his memory and talent will survive for as long as he remains loved, and he is. On the other paw... "God" is a man-made deity who has never existed, but it continues to blight the world with its man-made imaginings.

Interesting facts about this concert, it was filmed over two nights and the band didn’t get along with the production crew because they kept messing around with the band’s equipment and Freddie got really angry with the director Saul Scwimmer and on the second night, during ‘Another One Bites The Dust’, Freddie changed out of his jeans and went onstage barefoot wearing a pair of shorts with a baseball cap and a scarf around his neck, which Brian May dubbed Freddie’s “Rapper’s Gear”, just to mess up the continuity of the film. 😂

I saw Queen on this tour at Madison Square Garden in September of 1980. It's possibly the best concert I've ever been to. I highly recommend watching "Save Me" from this same concert. It was the last track off "The Game" album. As the story goes, way back in the early days while performing, somehow Freddie's mic stand came apart, and he just continued the show. He just used the top part from then on.

Although their more famous songs are great, some of their best stuff is songs from their early albums they never even released. Amazing to know it was so long ago! I was 21 then! I wasn't with the crowd unfortunately. Fantastic song from Freddie & the gang!! Sensational. I loved the drummer too, Roger Taylor. Also singing with Freddie occasionaly, backing singing. Love him too!!

The first album I ever bought for myself was Queen's 1977 "News of the World". I've said it before and I'll say it until the day I die, Freddie Mercury, the greatest front man of the greatest band of all times.

You need to see the whole concert! Not react to it, but watch it! Actually it's from the music movie "We Will Rock You" ... Queen was that huge back then, that the band toured the world and recorded a concert for fans in other countries! [< first one who did this, btw.] ... I actually saw this movie-film-concert at a cinema/movie-theatre! You can't (!) imagine what was going on in a room full of Queen fans, seeing this on the big screen with surround-sound! All people were standing, dancing, clapping and singing along ... what an epic experience ... at a movie-theatre! ♥ That was lit and fire!!! :)

OK, another comment. You need to listen to "Nevermore" - it's not the school Wednesday goes to!! Plus, also towards the end of Freddies life, "These are the days of our lives"; be prepared to cry.

4 people. Thats it, one guitar, one set of drums, one bass and one piano. No backing tracks to fill in the sound, no bank of back up singers. I saw them live, twice, and I still have to remind myself that all of that music comes from just 4 people.

This whole concert was re-released in a digital formal globally in Jan. 2024. Even watching it online makes you catch your breath, song after song at sustained energy levels.

'Under Pressure' live at Wembley '86 is an absolute must if you love Freddie's audience interactions, although be careful as you'll need to watch the longer version as the interaction happens before the song starts. Also, fun fact, Brian May's Guitar, the Red Special, he built himself with the help of his Dad, the body is made of an old Sideboard and he plays (and still does to this day) it with a sixpence instead of a pick. Also a lot of his effects are custom built which is why his guitar sounds like no other.

I thank the GTA games for having music radios that got me into so much older music. GTA:VC is why a whole generation of kids started loving 80s music, everyone at school was talking about it. Also all the old rock bands on GTA:VC is why I started pirating it all on Kazaa and going down a rabbit hole of old music. Without those games I think it would have taken me a lot longer to listen to anything pre modern times, it was just all what was on Kerrang TV like Slipknot and Cradle of Filth.

Sadly they don't make great bands like Queen anymore... But their legacy will always live on... Long after we're all no longer here to enjoy their incredible music... New Queen fans will be born and raised on their classic tracks... And will eventually pass their love of Queen onto their own children... Who will in turn do the same to the following generations... Queen and their music will never die... Thank you for your incredible music legacy Queen. 👏👍

I love people's reactions to Queen on You Tube. I've never seen anyone not smile, laugh, cry, look on in awe. There'll never be another Queen and particularly not Freddie Mercury.

I was fortunate to see Queen during this tour at the Baltimore Civic Center in August of 1980. I was 18 at the time, and I still vividly remember this show. Freddie owned the crowd from the moment he stepped onstage.

I consider myself very very lucky cos in 1986 while living in South Africa myself and my new wife came to England to introduce her to my English family and the day we landed in London we were walking around whilst waiting for hotel check in time . We arrived at a park and saw scaffolding erected plus a stage full of instruments asking around we were told Queen were giving a FREE concert. What a great day that was all thoughts of jetlag vanished

It’s not Freddie & Queen it’s just Queen they are four equal members it takes them all to produce this fantastic music Roger the drummer is a fantastic singer in his own right playing the drums is hard enough but singing as well amazing ❤ his & Freddie’s voice compliment each other so well he was always there to back up Freddie when his voice wasn’t so good & it did happen sometimes x

There is a reason why Freddie used that style of microphone, it stemmed from a gig in the early days of the band when the microphone stand refused to cooperate and made him look like a fool. If you are enjoying your Queen journey then I would definitely recommend that you watch the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, it's all in there.

It is funny to find the drummer having the high parts. He was once asked about their ambitions and whether they had wanted to be the biggest band in the world: 'Of course. What, did you think we wanted to be the fourth biggest?...'
